I never thought a single door could change everything. One minute, I was the top scarer at Monsters, Inc., feeding the city on screams. The next, I was hiding a human child in my apartment, realizing she wasn’t toxic—she was magic. Her laughter lit up the room like a power surge. Mike thought I’d lost my mind. Maybe I had. But when Randall and Waternoose started kidnapping kids to drain their screams, I knew fear had ruled long enough.

Now, standing in the laughter-powered factory, I look at the rebuilt door. Mike says it’s dangerous. The CDA says it’s forbidden. But Boo’s on the other side. And this time, I’m not letting anyone take her away.

I reach for the handle. "Ready?"

Mike sighs. "If we get banished again, I’m blaming you."

I smile. "Worth it."

The door hums to life. What do I do next?
