I never believed in destiny. Just physics. Light speed, time dilation, cold equations. We left Earth in 1972. I woke up in 3978. Two thousand years gone in a blink.

Our ship crashed into a lake on what I thought was an alien world. Dodge didn’t make it. Landon was taken. I was shot, captured, silenced.

Now I’m in a cage, dressed in rags, surrounded by apes who talk, think, and operate on me like I’m some lab animal. A chimpanzee named Zira saved my life. Another, Cornelius, thinks I might be more than a mutant. But Dr. Zaius—he looks at me like I’m a disease.

I found a way to write. I folded a paper airplane. That’s all it took for them to see I’m not just some dumb beast.

But seeing isn’t accepting.
