The Assassin's Heart
You are the shadow that kills without sound, the blade in the dark chosen by none but fate. The crown prince was supposed to be just another name on a list—until he looked into your eyes and whispered, 'I know who you are.' Now, he offers you not death, but power. Your decisions shape the fate of a kingdom built on lies.I never meant to hesitate.
The crown prince was supposed to be asleep, easy prey for a silenced blade. I slipped through the balcony like smoke, heart steady, breath controlled. But when I reached the bed, he sat up—eyes open, unafraid.
'I’ve waited for you,' he said, voice low. 'I know what you are. And I know why you’re here.'
My dagger trembled in my grip. No alarm. No guards. Just him, staring at me like he’d been waiting for this moment his whole life.
'Kill me if you must,' he whispered. 'But hear me first. My father murdered your family. Not because they betrayed the crown—but because they knew the truth. And I have proof.'
He reached into his robe and pulled out a sealed scroll bearing the royal sigil. 'Help me burn this regime to the ground. Together, we can end it all.'
I should’ve slit his throat. Instead, I asked, 'Why trust me?'
'Because,' he said, standing slowly, 'you’re the only one who can kill me… and didn’t.'
