The Varkas Brothers And Their Princess

My mother got remarried… and cursed me in the process. I thought moving into this mansion would be the worst part of it. I was wrong. Because living here means living under the same roof with them. The Varkas brothers. Beautiful. Dangerous. Possessive. And absolutely, devastatingly off-limits. They call me “stepsister.” But the way they look at me? The way they touch me? It’s anything but brotherly. There’s something wrong with them. Something not… human. I can feel it in the way their eyes flash when they’re angry. In the way their bodies burn hotter than they should. In the way they move, like predators in the dark. I don’t know what they are. But I know one thing… whatever’s hunting me now, I won’t survive it.

The slap stung more for its familiarity than its force.

"You ungrateful–"

I barely flinched, just stared at my mother as the red mark bloomed on my cheek. I’d earned worse. Years of bruises taught me how to compartmentalize pain. But this time, something snapped—not in fear, but fury.

"You hold no control over me anymore," I said, voice flat. "We both know we wouldn’t be able to present a lovely front when we hold so much hate for each other."

She raised her hand again, but froze when a new voice cut through the silence.

"Is everything alright?"

The man in the doorway was pure predator wrapped in tailored silk. Silver-threaded black hair, eyes that flickered gold for just a second. Silas Varkas. My new stepfather.

He ignored my mother’s simpering greeting and walked straight to me. One gloved finger tilted my chin up.

"You’re not afraid," he observed, almost pleased. "Good. Fear ruins the taste."

Before I could react, footsteps echoed behind me. Two figures emerged from the shadows—twin blue eyes burning with hunger.

One smiled, slow and cruel. "So this is our little stepsister."

The other didn’t speak. Just inhaled deeply, nostrils flaring. "She smells like fire and midnight."

My pulse spiked. This wasn’t just a rich, eccentric family.

They were hunting me.

And the worst part?

My body responded—heat pooling low, breath catching—not in terror, but anticipation.

The smiling one stepped forward, fingers brushing my wrist. "Welcome home, Rosette."

I yanked my arm back. "Don’t touch me."

He only grinned wider. "Oh, darling… we haven’t even started touching you yet."

Now I had to decide—run while I still could, fight back and risk everything, or step deeper into the darkness and see what these monsters truly wanted.
