Professor, Please Don't

The soft hum of the morning filled the Jung family kitchen. The table was set with fresh toast, eggs, and a steaming pot of coffee, but the warmth in the air didn’t quite reach Yn’s heart. She sat between her parents, poking at her food with her fork, unaware that her world was about to shift.
“Yn… there’s something we need to talk to you about,” her father began, his voice unusually grave.
“What is it?” Yn asked, looking up.
“We’re moving to South Korea,” Mr. Jung announced. “There’s a business expansion I need to personally oversee. We’ll be leaving the day after tomorrow.”
The silence that followed was deafening. Yn’s fork clattered onto her plate.
“What…? No. No, I’m not going!” she cried, pushing her chair back harshly. “Everything I love is here. My friends, my college… Jackson.”
“You’ll continue your studies there, sweetheart,” Mrs. Jung interjected softly. “It’s a beautiful country, and it’s not forever.”
“I said I’m not going!” Yn stormed out, grabbing her bag, and left without another glance. The door slammed shut behind her.
