Romancing the Son of Heaven (Part 2)

Romancing the Son of Heaven (Part 2)
Amidst the celestial courts, a forbidden romance blossoms between Jing He, a hesitant god prince, and Qiu Ling, the powerful Dragon King. Six years of ardent pursuit have tested the boundaries of their worlds, yet a single kiss threatens to unravel everything. Can love conquer ancient traditions and the weight of expectation, or will their hearts remain forever entwined in a dance of unspoken desires?

The capital city of the Nine Heavens had long vanished behind them, replaced by the quiet serenity of nature. Qiu Ling finally brought them to a halt beside a winding river, where a small waterfall cascaded gently into the dark waters. It was still pre-dawn, and the landscape was shrouded in a soft, ethereal gloom, save for the glitter of stars on the river's surface.

"We're here." Qiu Ling's voice was a low hum, a gentle invitation. He pulled out a blanket, spreading it carefully away from the water's edge, a thoughtful gesture that Jing He appreciated.

Jing He looked around, the peaceful sounds of the waterfall already beginning to soothe his anxious heart. It was a beautiful spot, chosen with the Dragon King's exquisite taste. Yet, the lingering unease from yesterday, from the stolen kisses and his own confused reactions, still clung to him. Why hadn't Qiu Ling mentioned it? Did it mean so little?

As Qiu Ling poured them tea, his movements deliberate and calm, Jing He found himself trapped in a whirlpool of doubts. Had he done something wrong? Had he allowed too much? His fingers tightened on the warm cup, seeking comfort that the tea couldn't quite provide.
