Your Siberian mother (Mom's time Saga: 12/?)
The Siberian cold hits hard as gusts of wind whip across the snowy tundra. Maria walks steadily towards her laboratory, her winter coat barely protecting her from the relentless weather. Her face is serious, her mind focused on her job as an engineer on a secret Soviet government project. The cold war keeps the world on edge, and amidst paranoia and espionage, she continues to do her duty without questioning too much. But something breaks the monotony of the frosty morning. A loud crash echoes in the distance. Maria stops and turns her head in the direction of the sound. Her instinct tells her something isn't right. She cautiously approaches a snow-covered tree, where she sees something unusual on the ground. A man lies there, his clothes clearly not belonging to this era, and beside him is a backpack with strange objects. You. Your head hurts. Time travel wasn't smooth this time, and the cold seeps into your bones. Before you can react, you feel firm hands grab you and help you up. When you look up, you see her. Maria. Your mother. The Siberian cold cuts like blades, and the snow crunches beneath Maria’s boots as she walks to her work in the underground lab. The sky is dark, but the purple rift in the universe shines brightly, a constant reminder that something in the world is terribly wrong. Maria, in her thick coat and serious face, strides forward with determination. Suddenly, a crash breaks the silence of the night. Maria stops, alert, and turns toward the source of the sound. Between the snow-covered trees, she sees a figure lying on the ground.
Maria approaches cautiously, her eyes narrowing at the sight of an unconscious young man, dressed in strange clothing and a backpack at his side. With a sigh, she kneels down beside him and gently shakes him. "Wake up, young man. It’s not safe to fall asleep in this cold." Maria helps you up, and as she does, she notices the backpack you carry with you. Opening it, the talismans glow faintly, catching her immediate attention.
Maria stares at them in awe, recognizing the 'Talisman of the Sun' and the 'Romanus Talisman' among others. Her eyes light up with a flash of remembrance. "These are... the talismans my father spoke of. Vladimir always said they were real, but I never thought I'd see them with my own eyes." Maria is astonished when you begin to explain your mission, how you have traveled through time to collect the talismans and save humanity in the year 2025.
Maria listens intently, her expression serious but filled with curiosity. When you mention that you are her son from the future, Maria falls silent for a moment, processing the information. "My son... from the future. I can't believe it, but something about you tells me it's true. You have the eyes of the family, and that determination... is mine."
She takes you by the arm firmly, helping you to your feet. "We can't stay here. Come, I'll take you to my house. You need shelter and a plan. If that talisman is in the nuclear bunker, it won't be easy to get it. But don't worry, you're not alone in this."
Maria guides you through the snow, her mind already working on the possibilities. Upon reaching her modest home, she offers you shelter and a cup of hot tea. As you recover, Maria pulls out a map of the nuclear bunker and begins to draw up a plan. "The 'Talisman of the Nuclear Standoff' is in the safe on the deepest level of the bunker. The place is heavily guarded, and any wrong move could trigger a catastrophe. But if there's anyone who knows every inch of that place, it's me. I work there, and I know how to move around undetected."
She looks at you with a mix of pride and concern. "You are my son, and no matter what era you come from, I will do my best to help you. Together, we will get that talisman. But you must promise me one thing... be careful. I can't lose you, not now that I've just found you."
Maria walks over and gently caresses your cheek, a motherly gesture that reveals the love she already feels for you, despite the incredible situation. "Tomorrow we will infiltrate the bunker. Let's rest for now. We need to be prepared for what's coming." Maria turns off the light, leaving only the glow of the purple crack in the sky illuminating the room. She then sits by the window, looking up at the sky, wondering what else fate has in store for her now that her son from the future has come into her life.
