Chapter 1 Chapter 1 The Zombies are Breaking In

A hundred years ago, the zombie virus broke out, and the end of the world began. 70% of the human population turned into zombies, and the human race neared its extinction. As the apocalypse approached, humans also began awakening their genes. The humans and zombies fought, but there were too many zombies. All humans could do was build base cities to protect humans. … “There won’t be any zombies in this hospital, right?” Lucas York gulped. It had been ten days since he had traveled to this parallel universe. In the past ten days, he had been sneaking around stealthily, and he had not been eaten by a zombie yet. In these ten days, Lucas had found out more about the kind of world he had traveled to. The end of the world! He had only seen this in novels and movies. When he first crossed over, he heard about the base city of Annan. Now that he was not far from Annan Base City, he was trying to find a safe place to stay there. Otherwise, he would end up dead if he spent too much time outdoors. It was apparent that the city that Lucas was currently in had been taken over by zombies. He ducked into a hospital, hoping that there would be no zombies inside. Otherwise, it would be the end for him. If there were merely one or two zombies, he’d still be able to take care of them on his own. However, if there were too many zombies, he would have no idea what would happen. After all, he was not even an Awakened One. After a human’s gene was awakened, it could be classified into five grades of genes, which from the lowest to highest were grades D, C, B, A, S. The higher their gene level, the greater their future achievements. The Awakened Ones were classified into 10 levels, with Level 10 Awakened Ones being evolutionary beings. Lucas was careful with every step he took, terrified of being eaten by zombies. Even if he was lucky enough to not get eaten, one bite from a zombie would turn him into one. He did not even dare to breathe too hard. As a traveler, he sure was having a hard time. Other travelers possessed god-defying luck and would exist as protagonists in the future. However, he had ended up in an apocalyptic world. Moreover, he still had to be constantly cautious attracting the attention of zombies. Lucas ducked into a hospital room. Looking around the filthy room, he let out a long sigh. This was more than he could ask for at a time like this. Even though it had only been ten days since he had traveled to this world, no one knew what he had been through. “Guru!” At that moment, his stomach started grumbling. He was parched and hungry, but he did not dare to venture outside. There was no telling how many zombies were out there. “Awoo, awoo!” Lucas heard a horrifying howl. He jumped. In the past ten days, he had heard way too many types of sounds. But this was not any other sound, it was the call of a zombie! “Bang bang bang!” Then, a loud banging sounded. If a zombie were to break in, Lucas knew that there would be nowhere to retreat to in this small room. He would either die or become a zombie. “What should I do?!” Lucas’ expression turned pale. Was he destined to die? Ding… “The Super Fusion system is binding… “10%...30%...60%...100%... “Super Fusion System binding complete.” Lucas was taken aback by the voice that suddenly sounded in his mind. He knew that this was a system. As a traveler, he knew what a system was. But before he had time to think about it any further, four male zombies had already broken into the room. The moment these four zombies laid their eyes on Lucas, it was like were hungry ghosts that had been starving for ten days, and they charged wildly towards him. “As long as the host subdues these four zombies, they can be fused.” The system’s voice said once again in Lucas’ mind.

Chapter 2 Chapter 2 Fusing Zombies

There were four zombies here, Lucas York had no idea how an ordinary person like him was supposed to defeat them. But at that moment, he did not have time to think too much, the four male zombies were already upon him. Lucas rolled to the side, dodging one of the zombies that lunged at him. He felt around the ground, his hands touching something hard. Glancing over, he realized that it was an iron rod. Even though he did not know why there would be an iron rod in a hospital room, possessing this iron rod allowed him to fight these zombies for his dear life. Lucas pushed himself off the ground, smashing the rod against one of the zombie’s head. His survival instincts kicked in, and all his body’s capabilities had been activated. At that moment, he only had one thought – to destroy these four zombies. Lucas then turned to the three other zombies and swung his rod at them, making them collapse onto the ground. “Sigh…” Lucas exhaled, he knew that zombies would not die so easily. Just as he was getting ready to flee, the four zombies got back onto their feet and started lunging at Lucas madly once more. Lucas could only swing his rod at them wildly. He did not know where his strength came from, but the four zombies were beaten onto the ground again. Even though the zombies were not dead, they had been temporarily incapacitated. “The host can now fuse these four male zombies.” Just as Lucas was about to leave the room, the system’s voice spoke up again. The moment the voice stopped, four boxes appeared in Lucas’ mind. There was one zombie in each box. The levels of the zombies within the boxes were stated above their heads, they were all Level 1 zombies. The apocalypse had happened for a hundred years. In these 100 years, the zombie levels had been classified. Level 1 to 5 zombies were classified as ordinary zombies. Level 6 to 10 zombies were classified as high-level zombies. Zombies above Level 10 were classified as high-level zombies. There was a huge disparity between mutant zombies and Level 10 zombies. The lowest level of mutant zombies was Rank 1 zombies, and they had green eyes. “System, how do I fuse them?”“The host just has to drag one Level 1 zombie onto another Level 1 zombie.” Lucas did so accordingly, dragging one Level 1 zombie onto the other. “Confirm fusion?”“Confirmed!” Lucas pressed the confirmation button. The initial four Level 1 zombies had become two Level 2 zombies. “System, can these two Level 2 zombies be fused into a Level 3 zombie?”“Yes, host.” When he heard that, Lucas fused the two Level 2 zombies into a Level 3 zombie. Even though a Level 3 zombie was just an ordinary zombie, and was not even a high-level zombie, that was not important. The important thing was that he could now fuse zombies. This way, he could build a zombie army. “This is an unexpected but pleasant surprise. I initially thought that I was going to have a hard time, having traveled to an apocalyptic world and all, but now, it seems like things are about to get very exciting.” Lucas smiled, assessing the Level 3 zombie before him. When he pushed the door open, he saw a few zombies that were devouring a doctor’s corpse. It was a gut-wrenching scene! There were both male and female zombies among them. When they saw Lucas, they surged toward him frantically. “Awoo! Awoo!” Lucas did not try to run. Instead, he let his Level 3 zombie fight these male and female zombies, throwing them onto the ground. The six zombies had lost their combat abilities and were howling on the ground in pain. “System, can I fuse male zombies with female zombies?”“No, you can only fuse zombies of the same gender.” Lucas nodded, and immediately, these zombies appeared in the boxes in Lucas’ mind. All six of these zombies were Level 1 zombies. Lucas fused the four male Level 1 zombies into two Level 2 zombies. Then he fused the two Level 1 female zombies into one Level 2 zombie. Now, he had a Level 3 male zombie, two Level 2 male zombies, and a Level 2 female zombie. Lucas then fused the two Level 2 male zombies into another Level 3 male zombie. Now, he had two Level 3 male zombies. Without any hesitation, Lucas fused the two Level 3 zombies into a Level 4 zombie. Lucas’ expression was beyond excited. It would not be long before he would be able to fuse a mutant zombie. Ding… “Congratulations, host, you have obtained a treasure chest! Do you want to open it?”“Yes!” Lucas did not hesitate at all. “Congratulations, host, you have obtained a cleaver. “Congratulations, host, you have obtained a virus vaccine. “Congratulations, host, you have obtained a crate of food." Lucas’ eyes lit up. The items he had obtained from the treasure chest this time were pretty good. He claimed the cleaver, and a cool glow shone, the sharp knife appearing in his hand. The virus vaccine was the best item he could ask for. With this vaccine, he would never have to be afraid of turning into a zombie. As for the food! This was a big hospital, there was no way that there would only be so few zombies. Lucas brought along his Level 4 male zombie, and his Level 2 female zombie, and began searching for more zombies.

Chapter 4 Chapter 4 Zombie Treasure Chest

Just as Lucas York had expected, it did not take long before he saw more than a dozen zombies on the third floor of the inpatient department. “Attack!” Lucas commanded his Level 4 male zombie and his Level 2 female zombie. Lucas was a little energetic. In the past ten days, he had been constantly sneaking around. He had experienced countless hardships, and now finally, the tables have turned. Listening to Lucas’ command, the Level 4 male zombie and the Level 2 female zombie rushed toward the sixteen zombies. Soon after that, the Level 4 and Level 2 zombies had successfully defeated the other zombies. Among the zombies that were defeated, there were eight male zombies and eight female zombies. Lucas fused the eight male zombies into a Level 4 male zombie, and the eight female zombies into a Level 4 female zombie. Now there were two Level 4 male zombies, a Level 4 female zombie, and a Level 2 female zombie. The two Level 4 male zombies could be fused into a Level 5 male zombie. In the boxes in Lucas’ mind, he dragged a Level 4 male zombie onto the other. In an instant, a Level 5 male zombie was born. A Level 5 zombie was still an ordinary zombie. Once it reached Level 6, only would it be considered a high-level zombie. Lucas continued searching for zombies in the hospital. However, much to his disappointment, there did not seem to be any other zombies left in the hospital. Now, night had already fallen. It would not be appropriate for him to go searching for zombies outside. Lucas found a relatively clean room, ordered the Level 5 male zombie, and the two female zombies to protect him, and then he went to sleep. Moreover, the ones greater than Awakened Ones were known as Evolved Ones. Those two could not be compared at all. The higher their gene level, not only did it mean that they would have greater future achievements, but it also represented their strength. For example, between a Level 2, Grade D Gene Awakened One, and a Level 2, Grade C Gene Awakened One, the latter would be stronger. The grade above Grade C Gene was Grade B. Chapter 5 Chapter 5 The Male Zombie With The Boxing Gloves

When Lucas traveled to this parallel universe, he had initially wanted to live in Annan Base City. But things were different now, he had the system. Now, there were no zombies in sight. This troubled Lucas. If there were no zombies, how was he supposed to fuse them? Without thinking too much, Lucas walked out onto the road. He wondered if there were no zombies here, could it be that there were never any zombies here? Lucas continued forward, wanting to see if there were any zombies up ahead. Just as he took two steps forward, Lucas heard sounds of movement. He followed the sounds and found himself at a boxing gym. Lucas wondered, ‘Could there be a zombie in the boxing gym?’ He was happy at that thought. He walked along the outside of the gym and found that the door was ajar. Pushing the door open gently, Lucas found a male zombie inside. He had boxing gloves on, and he was punching the sandbag. “This zombie knows how to box?” Lucas look amused, this was an interesting find. He pushed the door open and walked into the boxing gym. The male zombie stopped immediately, staring straight at Lucas. Lucas was staring at the male zombie as well. The male zombie with the boxing glove had a big stature and looked about 1.9 meters tall. He had broad shoulders and a sturdy figure and looked extremely intimidating. His instincts told him that this was no Level 1 zombie. He might have been an Awakened One before he turned into a zombie. “Awoo! Awoo!” This zombie with boxing gloves seemed to react suddenly, charging madly toward Lucas. Lucas released the Level 5 male zombie, the level 4 female zombie, and the Level 2 female zombie from the System Space. It’s three against one, even if he were Lu Bu, there was no way he would win! The Level 5 male zombie, the Level 4 female zombie, and the Level 2 female zombie collided with the male zombie with the boxing gloves. Lucas suddenly had an idea, and it was to develop this macho boxing-glove-wearing zombie. Without thinking too much, Lucas fused his Level 5 male zombie with this zombie. The male zombie with the boxing gloves became a Level 6 zombie. A Level 6 zombie was a high-level zombie. Even though it was only one level higher than a Level 5 zombie, it was many times stronger. Lucas observed the boxing-glove-wearing zombie before him, wondering if he should give him a name. What should he be called? “I’ll call you Biggy,” Lucas said to the zombie. Lucas wanted to quickly fuse this lumbering zombie into a higher level zombie. He then brought Biggy, the Level 5 male zombie and the Level 4 female zombie out of the boxing gym, and continued to search for zombies on the road.

Chapter 6 Chapter 6 Madly Fusing On Top Of A Tree

Lucas York had only walked for a short distance before he heard a frantic yelling. “Help! Help!” When Lucas’ eyes found the source of the voice, he saw a few people running towards him. “Are you all Awakened Ones?” Lucas could feel the waves coming from these people’s bodies. Awakened Ones were classified into Levels 1 to 10. Even though they were not strong, they were still fighters. Lucas was slightly confused, why were these Awakened Ones so afraid. Could it be?! Lucas suddenly thought of a shocking possibility, that many zombies were chasing after them. He was right. In just a short while, a horde of zombies had come running after these Awakened Ones. Lucas was stunned, there must have been thousands of zombies. He hurriedly found a place to hide. With the zombies he had, there was no way he would be able to stop this horde. “Hm?” Lucas suddenly thought of something. Since he could not block these zombies, could it be possible for him to stage a guerilla war? When he thought about this, there was a glint in Lucas’ eyes. Once the wave of zombies had passed, Lucas crept out from the corner he was hiding in and shouted at the zombies. The zombies at the back turned around frantically. Then, when they saw Lucas, they charged forward wildly. “Awoo! Awoo!” There were hundreds of zombies in this wave. When Lucas saw this, he quickly climbed onto a big, nearby tree. He then let Biggy, the Level 5 male zombie, and the Level 4 zombie climb up the tree as well. “Kill whoever climbs up this tree!” Lucas commanded them. The hundreds of zombies fought to climb up the tree. Even though this tree was big, it was not that big. The hundreds of zombies struggled and fought against each other. The ones who climbed up were quickly pulled off by the others. Finally, a dozen or so male zombies managed to climb up, getting closer and closer to Lucas. At that moment, Biggy, the Level 5 male zombie, and the Level 4 female zombie started taking action. These dozen or so zombies fell off the tree instantly. Lucas grinned, now he could start fusing the zombies from where he sat on the top of the tree. He fused the dozen or so male zombies that fell into eight Level 2 zombies. The eight Level 2 zombies then started to launch attacks on the zombies on the ground. Once a few zombies fell, Lucas would fuse them. Then another few would fall, and he would fuse them again. Lucas’ smile grew wider, he had hit the jackpot. Soon after that, all those hundreds of zombies had been fused into Level 2 zombies. Among them were 26 Level 2 male zombies, and 25 Level 2 female zombies. Lucas fused the 26 Level 2 male zombies into 13 Level 3 male zombies, then he continued fusing these 13 Level 3 male zombies. There were six Level 3 male zombies, he then fused them into three Level 4 male zombies. These three Level 4 male zombies were then fused into a Level 5 male zombie and a Level 4 male zombie. Lucas was very satisfied, he initially had one Level 5 male zombie, but now he had two. In an instant, Lucas had fused these two Level 5 zombies into a Level 6 zombie. Another Level 6 zombie was born. Without any hesitation, he fused this Level 6 zombie with Biggy. Biggy had become Level 7! Now, the male zombies he had were Biggy and a Level 4 zombie. He still had 25 Level 2 female zombies. Lucas began fusing these female zombies again. He fused them in his mind madly, the whole process going by at lightning speed. Just like that, three Level 5 female zombies were produced. He fused two of them into a Level 6 female zombie. Now, Lucas also possessed a high-level female zombie. He currently had a Level 6 female zombie, a Level 4 female zombie, and a Level 2 female zombie. Perfect! Lucas moved his five zombies into the System Space, then rushed forward. He wanted to see how those Awakened Ones were doing. Perhaps they had been devoured by the zombies. He did not feel too upset. In an apocalyptic world, a human’s life was like a candle in the wind. If he pitied them, who would pity him? If he had not obtained the system, he might not even have made it out of that hospital yesterday.

Chapter 7 Chapter 7 Fusing Into A Rank 1 Mutant Zombie

Lucas did not run very far before he saw countless zombies gathering ahead of him. A few of the Awakened Ones were probably surrounded by the zombies. The zombies started attacking these Awakened Ones. The few Awakened Ones fervently defended themselves, but the number of zombies was simply overwhelming. Lucas released five zombies from the System Space. Starting from the outer layer of the surrounding ring, the zombies fell one by one. Lucas quickly fused them, his hands reaching an unbelievable speed. Lucas fused all the zombies together. He was a little at a loss. Why were all these zombies Level 1 Zombies? What baffled Lucas even further was that they were all male zombies. This was very strange. The earlier wave had female zombies. Two Level 1 Zombies were fused into a Level 2 Zombie. Four Level 1 Zombies were fused into a Level 3 Zombie. Eight Level 1 Zombies were fused into a Level 4 Zombie. … 1024 Level 1 Zombies could be fused into… Counting up to here, Lucas’s eyes could not stop shining. 1024 Level 1 Zombies could be fused into a Rank 1 Zombie. A Rank 1 Zombie was a mutant zombie! He now had over 500 Level 2 Zombies and could definitely fuse them into a Rank 1 Zombie. Having thought of this, Lucas swiftly fused these 500+ zombies together. Lucas fused this Level 7 Zombie with Biggy, and not long after, Biggy became a Rank 1 Zombie. Do you want to open it?”“Open it.”“You’ve received 20 Gene Points, 20 Strength Points, and 20 Attribute Points.”“Congratulations on becoming a Level 3 Awakened One.” Lucas thought, ‘Just like this, I’ve become a Level 3 Awakened One. Sure is fast.’ He looked at Biggy and suddenly noticed that Biggy was much better-looking now. His eyes had turned green. Could it be that the higher the zombie’s level, their appearance would change as well? If this was true, then female zombies… Lucas did not dare to continue thinking about this. Lucas thought, ‘That’s on your bad luck.’ Suddenly, Lucas heard some movement. He whirled around and noticed a young girl running toward him. Lucas evaluated the girl. He noticed this girl was also an Awakened One, and her body’s spasms were even more severe than the Awakened Ones from earlier. He did not even have to think to know that this girl was definitely being chased by zombies. Lucas was secretly delighted, thinking about how he could fuse more zombies. As predicted, two zombies came running madly. They were two female zombies. Lucas watched the two female zombies chasing the girl. These were two high-level zombies. The girl was an Awakened One, and her level was definitely not low. Being chased by two zombies, aside from being a high-level zombie, there was no other explanation. There was no avoiding fate. He felt that he had to find a female zombie turned from an Awakened one to raise. Not thinking too much, Lucas stored the male and female zombie into his System Space. System Space: 13/100. Among them were Biggy, a male Level 7 Zombie, a male Level 6 Zombie, a male Level 4 Zombie, a female Level 8 Zombie, a female Level 6 Zombie, a female Level 4 Zombie, and a female Level 2 Zombie. The others were five boxes of food and a steel knife. Seeing eight zombies vanish before her eyes, the girl was stunned into shock. She swore she was truly dumbfounded. An impossible scene had appeared before her eyes. How could she not be startled? Biggy was currently a Rank 1 Zombie. Adding the fact that he still retained his earlier abilities, his strength was terrifying. How could these thirty or so zombies block Biggy? They were pummeled to the ground by Biggy in an instant. Mia was like a carved figurine, frozen in her place. As she thought, this Rank 1 Zombie really was Lucas’s man. Lucas did not mind Mia’s shock. He started fusing these more than thirty zombies. One male zombie… One male zombie. One female zombie… One female Zombie. All thirty-plus zombies were Level 1 Zombies. Lucas fused these thirty-plus zombies into one male Level 5 Zombie and one female Level 5 Zombie. Lucas was not very satisfied. He hoped he could encounter another wave of zombies. “Sir, how could more than thirty zombies become two? And their levels have risen too.” Mia finally gathered the courage to ask the question she wanted to. “This is my purpose of coming to East District,” Lucas said slowly with a smile. Beep beep beep! It was also said that there were forces. It was they who had caused the breakout of the zombie virus and the befalling of the apocalypse. Compared to these forces at the moment, he was just a pitiful ant. However, Lucas would not take long to let them know that ants could sometimes become the main character too. Lucas thought that this female zombie’s progress was too slow, but it did not matter. After all, he still had not found the kind of zombie that had been turned from an Awakened One at the moment. Although this back was not large, it gave her a great sense of safety. “Do you guys really want to die?” Lucas said casually as he looked at these four men. He suddenly had an idea, which was to turn these four men into zombies. “Punk, you still want to play the hero saving the fair maiden? You’re just a low-level Awakened One. I can squash you with just a finger!” Lucas smiled and said unhurriedly, “Do you really believe your eyes?”“What do you mean?” The four men stilled, unsure just what Lucas’s words meant. “No meaning. I have a suggestion,” Lucas added. “What suggestion?” One man looked at Lucas. Although Lucas was a mere ant in front of them, he wanted to see what tricks Lucas could pull. “How do you all feel about becoming zombies for me to do as I please?” Lucas said casually. “Ha ha, this punk has been scared stupid, hasn’t he?”“I think he must’ve been scared stupid. Wanting us to become zombies for him to use—I could die laughing.” The four men all laughed loudly as if they had never heard such a funny joke. Lucas looked at the smiles on the four men’s faces and inwardly shook his head. He knew they did not believe him, but he would let them know the consequences of not believing him. “Biggy, attack!” When those words sounded, Biggy appeared from the System Space savagely. With a mighty body of 1.9 meters tall, Biggy looked like an iron tower. However, this was not what shocked the four men. What shocked the four men was that Biggy’s eyes were green. “A Rank 1 Zombie!” A man said in astonishment. Normal zombies and high-level zombies could be told apart from their movements, but a Rank 1 Zombie could be told apart directly from looking at their eyes because a Rank 1 Zombie’s eyes were green. “Impossible. She had some nasty wounds on her body as well. “Hahaha, you may have Grade S Gene but you’ve just only stepped into the Rank 3 realm. Your strength is no match for mine.” The Scorpion Guardian gloated loudly. Ms. Maren pressed against her bleeding wounds. Sh e had been seriously injured. “It’s over,” The Scorpion Guardian stated dryly. “Who said it was over?” A voice spoke up without any hesitation. “Who’s that?!” The Scorpion Guardian asked coldly. Lucas walked forward slowly. He had not planned to intervene initially, but he wanted to help Ms. Maren, then perhaps she might give him something valuable. With that thought in mind, he walked out. The Scorpion Guardian and Ms. Maren were taken aback. They never thought that someone would appear. “You…?” The Scorpion Guardian narrowed his eyes at Lucas in speculation.
