Stalker 101 (Book 1)

The true crime podcast droned on, detailing the gruesome acts of a serial killer. "Everyday words can be jumbled together to create nightmare inducing trauma. Welcome to the lost tapes of the sociopathic serial killer, Alexander Filan." My blanket was pulled tight around me, a flimsy shield against the chill that had nothing to do with the night air. "Oh god, if I looked like that, I'd murder people too," I whispered, reaching for the remote.
Then, a creak echoed through the old house. Not the usual settling sounds, but a loud, deliberate groan. My hand froze. This one was real. It had to be. "You need to learn some respect for the dead, sweetheart." The voice was a whisper, but it wasn't the podcast. It was right there, in the room, chilling me to the bone.
