After My Sister's Murder, I Went Mad
I suffer from extreme mental illness. My sister became a facial model to earn money for my expensive medical treatment. She was 5'3" tall but was noticed because of her beauty by a wealthy young man with a leg obsession. He imprisoned her. "This is the most beautiful face I've ever seen. If only your legs were a bit longer, I'd die with a smile." She was forced to have leg-lengthening surgery. After the operation, her legs began to rot. He found her disgusting and locked her in the basement, torturing her until she died. I got kicked out of the mental health institute because I could not pay the medical fees. I found him surrounded by beautiful women with long legs. "Those are the prettiest legs I've ever seen. If only your face were a little cuter, I'd die with a smile!" I pointed to the painting of my sister and scoffed, "What if I become her?"Chapter 1 Chapter 1
Dominic was surrounded by a group of beautiful women with long legs and silky-smooth skin. He looked completely at ease, as though enveloped in blissfulness. I focused all my attention on him. The scent of lavender filled the air. It was similar to the smell in my own room. I eagerly took a deep breath. Only then did I begin to feel a bit calmer. The door behind me flung open. Two muscular men in black barged in. “Sir, we’re sorry.” Panic flashed across their faces. Each man grabbed my hand on either side and restrained me. They tried to drag me out. I did not attempt to break free from them. I focused my gaze on Dominic. At that moment, I knew I must have looked pitiful. Whenever I felt bored, I practiced in front of the mirror. I learned to control every muscle in my face and focused on each small nerve. I never understood why humans had such a wide range of expressions. They experienced sadness, pain, anger, joy, and many other things. Just like they never understood my indifference. But it did not matter. I could always imitate expressions perfectly. I could even fool Ava. Dominic was deceived by my facade. He gestured for the muscular men to stop. They obediently released me. Dominic stood up and slowly approached me. He looked up at me. I looked down at him and chuckled. He was shorter than 5’3”. He was even shorter than Ava, yet he found her undesirable. He even made someone conduct leg-lengthening surgery on her. That was the most amusing thing I had ever seen. Dominic seemed furious and embarrassed when he saw my reaction. He tiptoed to me and gripped my neck tightly. I did not resist. I looked at him in sorrow as my face turned red. I learned that from books. Sometimes, appearing weak could be the most effective weapon. Sure enough, Dominic smirked before loosening his grip on my neck. “Very good. I like her.” With that, I was taken into his mansion. It was exactly how Ava had been taken there. Every time Ava visited me, I would observe every inch of her flawless face. Her eyebrows, eyes, nose, lips, and features perfectly fit the golden ratio of beauty. But I would never see her again. I had fantasized many times about Ava’s disappearance. I would then be able to walk out of the luxurious prison that confined me. But when she was actually gone, a strange emotion that I had never felt before stirred within my heart. I gently rested my hands on Dominic’s neck. I could feel the pulse of his carotid artery. With my sharp nails, I could easily cut through his skin with a simple flick of my finger. He would gasp a few times and then die, just like the wild cat I took in when I was five. But that would be boring. Ava would not like it. So, I withdrew my hand when he kissed my lips. The next day, I was awakened by the sound of a dog barking. I pushed off Dominic, who was sleeping heavily on me. I put on my nightgown and went downstairs. A massive black Presa Canario with a square head and short snout approached me. It barked furiously and seemed ready to pounce and bite me at any moment. I remained completely still as I stared into its eyes. The dog gradually quieted down. It walked to my feet and rubbed against me. I reached out and patted its head. It seemed to enjoy that. Suddenly, I heard some noise from upstairs. Dominic was coming down. I extended my calf toward the dog’s mouth. I scraped it against its sharp teeth. Blood gushed out. “Ow!!!” I exclaimed. I fell to the floor with a pale face. The dog seemed confused by my sudden movement. It fixed its gaze on me. It wanted to approach but was hesitant. I felt amused by it. When Dominic saw my fair calf soaked in blood, he was enraged! ‘I’m sorry, doggie. You’ll join Ava very soon!’ I thought.
Chapter 2 Chapter 2
In less than twenty-four hours after I met Dominic, he killed his beloved Presa Canario, Brutus, whom he had raised for five loving years. Dominic was a notorious figure in Crestfall’s elite circle. He was eccentric and ruthless. Everyone who knew him was aware of his two major obsessions: dogs and women. He had raised many breeds of dogs. The only thing they had in common was their aggression and viciousness. He trained them using live animals. Other than chickens and rabbits, he often used human flesh to train them. After all, he had plenty of money. Many people were willing to take the risk and feed themselves to Dominic’s dogs in exchange for huge sums of cash. The survivors received a sum of money that one could never earn in a lifetime. The families of the deceased also received sufficient compensation. Though Dominic was short, he was utterly obsessed with legs. He was only attracted to tall, beautiful women with long legs. His obsession with women’s legs was almost fanatical in nature. Rumor had it that he personally drew every tall, beautiful woman he met. At home, he had a collection of pictures featuring hundreds and thousands of unique, beautiful portraits of legs. Ava was an exception. She was 5’3’’ and did not have long legs. Her only outstanding feature was her unforgettable face. This earned her some recognition in the facial modeling industry. Ava earned a small salary as a facial model to pay for my expensive medical bills. She was unwilling to spend even a cent on herself. When I was kicked out of the mental health institute, I found out that Ava had not sent money to the hospital in a long time. It was as if she had vanished from my world. I tried to log into her personal blog several times and finally succeeded when I used my birthday as her password. As I searched her private space, I found her hidden diary. In the diary, I learned that Brutus had viciously licked Ava’s decaying legs during her final days. I could not fully understand what pain truly felt like. But if it could be expressed in words, it must be exactly as Ava described. At that moment, it seemed like something was about to well up in my eyes and was ready to spill over. Meanwhile, Brutus lay stiff on the floor with its eyes wide open. Dominic had shot the dog. A bullet pierced its skull so fast that it did not even have time to howl before falling dead to the floor. I dragged my bloody leg over to Brutus and gently closed his eyes with my fingers. Dominic called for a doctor and a nurse. He told them to make sure my leg was fully healed and as fine as before. He warned them that if they made even the slightest mistake, they would end up like Brutus. I could see the fear in their eyes, despite their immaculate skill. Dominic was a man of his word. He had done the same to Ava. He was obsessed with her face. He imprisoned her in his mansion. He tortured and humiliated her day and night. Ava endured the humiliation. She had tried to end her life many times. But she could not let go of me. I was her only family. Ava knew I was different from other children since I was young. If it were not for her, I might have been cast aside by everyone long ago. I strangled my neighbor’s oriole when I was three. I dismembered a cat I found when I was five. Ava held my bloodied body and cried heart-wrenchingly. The doctor told her there was something wrong with my genes. I could not feel emotions in the same way a normal person would. He also claimed that I was only driven by violence and aggression to my core. I hated what the doctor had said. The oriole was making a racket. The stray cat stole my food. How could all of that be my fault? I stared intently at the doctor’s face. Before I could think of a way to deal with him, Ava had taken me away. Ava built me a castle. It was wonderful and had everything I wanted. No one was allowed in the castle except for people in white coats. I immersed myself in my world and learned everything I could. Ava gave up everything in exchange for my peace. I mimicked the appearance of charming women that I knew from books as I looked at Dominic. He took Ava away from me. I smiled and said with tears in my eyes, “Dom, don’t be angry. I’m fine.” Ever since I moved into his mansion, he cast aside the other beautiful, long-legged women he knew. The news of Dominic killing his own dog spread mysteriously throughout the Crestfall social circle. I was famous overnight. Many sought to dig into my background, but they came up empty-handed. Dominic tried to investigate me too, but Ava had hidden my identity very well. After several unsuccessful attempts, Dominic gave up. Soon, my leg injury healed quickly and left no trace of the bite. Dominic generously rewarded the doctor. He did not know that my special genes were the real reason for my rapid recovery. The servants in the mansion treated me with respect. Their eyes filled with fear whenever they looked at me. They had witnessed Dominic kill his beloved Brutus. He did that so that I would not be bitten by it again. Moreover, Dominic had changed so much that his servants could barely recognize him. He smiled more and spoke gently. He was no longer the arrogant and intimidating figure he once was.
Chapter 3 Chapter 3
The servants thought I had enchanted Dominic with some kind of potion. In truth, I had. During my time in the mental health institute, I thoroughly studied the pills I took every day. After moving into the mansion, I ground various pills into powder. I secretly mixed them with food and fed them to Dominic. I felt a rush of excitement every time I prepared the medication. I felt like an all-powerful magician. I poured the mixture into Dominic’s seafood porridge. “What are you doing?” Suddenly, I felt a tight grip on my hand. I turned to see Dominic behind me. His face darkened. He blinked in agitation when he saw the packet of powder in my hand. I knew these were signs of rage. I smiled and said teasingly, “What else can I do? I’m just making your favorite seafood chowder!” As I said that, I gave the packet a shake. The powder poured into the bowl of chowder and disappeared without a trace. He still looked doubtful, and his face grew darker. He gripped my hand tighter. “You’re so ungrateful! Fine, I’ll just eat them myself.” I pouted my lips and pretended to be angry. I then took a spoonful of the chowder and ate it. When he saw that, he was stunned. He loosened his grip on me, and his face softened. I ignored him and continued eating. He finally spoke up when I was about to finish the whole bowl. “Lila, I—” I did not let him finish. I interrupted him with a kiss. He must not stop taking the medication. He obediently ate the chowder. His mood improved greatly after that. He held my hand and led me to his secret studio. I observed my surroundings in the dim light. I noticed the rumored paintings of beautiful women on the walls. The paintings had a diverse range of poses and expressions. They made the women appear almost lifelike. Each woman’s legs were uniquely distinct. Dominic took off my clothes. Soon, I stood completely naked before him. He looked at me with excitement in his eyes, as if he were admiring a sculpture. After a long while, he finally picked up a paintbrush. He wanted to paint my portrait to put it on the wall. “I don’t want to be with them.” I rushed over, snatched the brush from his hand, and threw it to the ground. The paint splattered all over me. “What do you want, then?” The desire in his eyes grew almost tangible. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he spoke in a hoarse voice. I laughed loudly. Then I picked up the paint bucket from the ground and splashed it against the wall. The beautiful paintings were stained with vibrant colors. Dominic laughed and chased after me. He knelt at my feet and kissed my long legs. “Those are the prettiest legs I’ve ever seen. If only your face were a little cuter, I’d die with a smile!” I pointed to the painting of Ava and scoffed, “What if I become her?” He called for a doctor and told him to make me look like Ava. Dominic was more nervous than I was on the day he removed the bandages from my face. He was afraid I would not turn out the way he liked. He sighed in relief when he saw my face. He excitedly shouted to the doctor, Logan Reed, “I’ll give you a generous tip!” Logan smiled. He frowned when he noticed I was staring at him blankly. I instantly switched my expression and said with a smile, “Dr. Logan, thank you so much.” Only then did he visibly relax. He exchanged a few polite words and left. As I watched him leave, I reached out my right hand and aimed it at his neck. I gently squeezed it as if I were crushing an ant. Logan was the doctor who had suggested leg-lengthening surgery for Ava. He had been Dominic’s loyal lackey for years. Sometimes, when Dominic went too far, Logan was called in to clean up the mess. Ava was not the first woman to disappear from Dominic’s side. Similar things had happened to many women in the past. When their family members came looking for an answer, Dominic compensated them generously and made them leave. The families had no choice but to take the money and walk away. They did not have enough evidence to report him to the authorities. Logan was surprised when Ava showed up at Dominic’s mansion. She did not have long legs. He had suggested that Ava get leg-lengthening surgery when he sensed Dominic’s displeasure. Dominic was overjoyed when he heard this. He generously rewarded Logan. That was when Ava’s misfortune had begun. Logan and his team cut through the bones in her legs. They inserted steel plates, pins, and screws inside.
