Stranded In A Ghost Town ✔️

The smell of fries and cheap diner coffee hung heavy in the air, a familiar comfort. I grimaced, settling into the booth beside Carly and Paige, a guy from across the room still bold enough to wink at me. "Eurgh," I muttered, shoving a fry into my mouth, prompting Carly and Paige to burst into laughter.
"Major creepo," I clarified, and they snickered, knowing my dramatic flair. Paige, ever the pragmatist, was already sifting through the classifieds.
"Anything good?" I asked, dipping a fry into her ketchup, earning a playful glare. She pointed to an ad, and Carly sighed, deflating. "Tribeca for 3000? Too expensive. My savings won't cover two months."
Carly looked defeated, ready to give in before she'd even begun. "Don't even think about not going," Paige threatened, and I nodded in agreement. This internship was everything to Carly. She’d worked too hard.
