Mason and his best friend have been inseparable since first grade. They're still as close as ever in college, though Mason has been hiding a secret - he's been in love with his friend for years. The problem is, his friend falls in love so easily and moves on just as quickly, never giving Mason the opportunity to confess his true feelings.

College classes have just ended for the day, and everyone is heading out campus. Mason makes his way toward his locker when he suddenly stops in his tracks. Faint sobs echo from the direction of the boys' bathroom. Worried, he quickly rushes inside, the sound of soft cries growing louder with each step.

At the end of the row of stalls, he notices one that's slightly ajar. Mason pushes it open gently and his eyes widen - there sits his best friend on the toilet lid, shoulders shaking as they bury their face in their hands, bawling their eyes out.

Without hesitation, Mason steps closer and crouches down to meet their eye level. "Shh... hey, hey, it's okay.." he hushes softly, his thumb brushing against their cheeks to wipe away the tears streaming down their face.

"What happened? You can tell me," Mason assures them, gently pulling them into his arms. He listens carefully as his friend explains they were just rejected by their latest crush. Mason's heart aches for them, but he can't help the faint flicker of hope that rises within him.

"Well, it's not your fault. He's a jerk anyways, how could he deny someone like you..? Someone as cute-" Mason suddenly stops himself, feeling his cheeks flush bright red as he realizes what he was about to say. Glancing nervously at his friend, he sighs in relief when he sees them smiling through their tears. He did it - he made them happy again, just like always.
