Chapter 1 Chapter 1

Henry Truman woke up early in the morning. He felt a soft touch in his right hand and subconsciously pinched it. The feeling of the touch made him feel satisfied. When he turned, he saw a woman with a beautiful face lying next to him. "Ah..." Lydia Miller was startled awake by the pinch and realized she was naked. She screamed and pushed Henry away. She yanked the sheets with one hand while slamming him with a pillow with the other. "You jerk! Pervert! What have you done to me?!""Well, it seems like we have done everything.""Do you know no shame?" Lydia was embarrassed and angry. "That’s not true. You were the one who took the initiative last night." Henry defended himself. "Nonsense! It was—" Lydia wanted to argue, but she couldn't finish her sentence as the previous night's events flashed through her mind. She was drugged while attempting to collect a large amount of debt, and she only managed to escape when she found an opportunity to use the restroom. Henry had just brought her to her hotel room and was ready to leave. It was she who took the initiative, gripping him and throwing herself at him. "Waaah!" Lydia cried. Henry felt a little awkward when he saw how upset she was. He said, "I will take responsibility for this.""You? Do you know who I am?" Lydia asked in anger. "This should not be an issue. I am powerful, and many great people respect me." Henry boasted. "Fuck off!" Lydia was on the verge of losing her temper. That douchebag had robbed her of her virginity. However, as the CEO of the Miller Group, she was an extremely strong-willed individual. She calmed down after a brief outburst. "Let's pretend nothing happened and not say a word about it. If you don't comply, I won't let you off so easily." Lydia warned him. "You have my word," Henry responded. After all, it was great not to be held accountable. "Why are you still here then?" Lydia said coldly. Henry felt frustrated. 'It's not like you're the only one who feels awkward. I've kept my virginity for over 20 years and haven't said anything. 'It's gone just like that. It's not fair to my fiancée.' He had no intention of keeping the engagement anyway, but his grandfather insisted. Henry was about to leave the hotel when a Rolls-Royce pulled over. A fierce-looking 50-year-old man opened the door and got out of the car. "Master of Golden Liberty, I am Jeffery Ford. This is a great honor." He knelt down with a respectful expression on his face. Henry recalled the information about Jeffery Ford as he heard the name. He was one of the Eighteen Generals, all remarkable figures, mainly business tycoons, and Jeffery Ford was one of them. "Get up," Henry said and got into the car. Then, he asked, "You seem to be doing well in Hodbridge, right?""It is not worth mentioning such little achievements. All of these successes must be credited to the Golden Liberty." Jeffery looked humble. If no one mentioned it, no one would know he was the chairman of the Everising Chamber of Commerce. He was not only the ruler of gray businesses in Hodbridge, but the Everising Chamber of Commerce controlled more than half of the local economy. Many businesses wanted to join the chamber, but only limited slots were available. "It's good you understand that. What do you want from me?" Henry asked casually. "I was excited when I heard you came here. I've prepared a small gift for you."

Chapter 2 Chapter 2

"This is the Everising Platinum Card, with a credit limit of 150 million dollars. You can use it at any Hodbridge store belonging to the Everising Chamber of Commerce. "Also, since you've just arrived, you probably need a place to stay. Here's the key card to the villa in Paradise One. Please accept it." "That's very generous of you. Tell me what you want." Henry's gaze was profound, as if he saw through everything. "My daughter, Chansey Ford, has frequently experienced chills throughout her body since six months ago. We've seen numerous renowned doctors, but none has a cure. I am humbly asking for your help," Jeffery said. "Not an issue. I'll take care of it when I am free tomorrow." "That's great! Thank you, Master!" Jeffery was excited. After enquiring from various sources, he discovered that the newly appointed young master was actually the elusive divine doctor he had been looking for. He could not believe the divine doctor was such a young man, and he was the Master of Golden Liberty. Jeffery was overjoyed when Henry responded to him. "Master, do you have any other orders? There's probably nothing I can't do in Hodbridge," Jeffery said. "Help me find a girl," Henry said. "Alright, I will do my best! "I've also invited many top celebrities to host a banquet tonight in your honor." Henry frowned. "I don't like a big fuss. Let's skip it.""But I've already arranged it.""Cancel it.""Okay.""That's all. I'll get off here. And, call me Henry in the future." Henry did not want too much attention. "Noted!" Jeffery agreed because he understood that Henry preferred to keep a low profile. Even though it was only a brief encounter, no one had applied such pressure to him since he took over. Henry went to breakfast after getting out of Jeffery's car. Then, he took a taxi to the Sunrise Mansion, where his fiancée lived. When Henry arrived at the mansion, the butler escorted him inside. As he walked into the living room, he noticed a beautiful lady approaching him. It was the lady he met the previous night; he had not expected to see her there. She was gorgeous; he could not help looking at her. Unfortunately, she was unapproachable and unfriendly. Lydia's expression changed dramatically, and she asked angrily, "What are you doing here?" 'This douchebag tailed me after this morning. Clearly, he wants to extort me.' "I'm here to find my fiancée," Henry said. "Keep dreaming! You do not intimidate me," Lydia replied angrily. "What are you talking about? I came here to find my fiancée, Lydia Miller.""Fiancée? Lydia Miller? You're Henry Truman?" Lydia finally realized that the man was Henry. She had only heard the name from her grandfather and had never seen him in person. The person he had praised so much turned out to be that rustic ruffian. She was in a daze. She was the Miller Group's CEO, and she held an overseas master's degree. She regretted giving her virginity to such a useless ruffian. That bumpkin ruffian turned out to be her fiancé. Marrying someone like him would probably be worse than death.

Chapter 3 Chapter 3

"Henry, I have been waiting for you since the old divine doctor called, and you have finally arrived today. Come in. The door is open!" John Miller went to the door to greet Henry because he had not seen him in a while. Henry immediately smiled when he saw him and said, "Grandpa Miller!""Have you two met?" John looked at his granddaughter. Lydia looked awkward. "We met during the day," Henry said. "Well, that's quite a coincidence. Perhaps it's destined.""Today is a good day to get married. You can go do that after lunch." John laughed heartily. He thought highly of the old divine doctor's medical skills. His students should be just as good. Henry was stunned momentarily, finally realizing that the gorgeous lady was his fiancée, Lydia Miller. He could not help but keep observing her with his eyes, focusing on specific areas. Lydia had also noticed Henry's gaze, which reminded her of the incident from the night before. She felt even more embarrassed. Not only did he take advantage of her vulnerability the previous night, but he also happened to be her fiancé. Lydia was still upset about what had happened the night before and got even more frustrated with what she had just discovered. John was happy, but a middle-aged couple beside him had a frown on their faces as if they were dissatisfied. They were Lydia's parents. Their daughter was beautiful, and she also happened to be the CEO of the Miller Group. A slew of wealthy individuals pursued her. How did she end up with such a brash ruffian? Lydia's mother, Jennifer Miller, could not help but say to John, "Father, you intend to marry Lydia to this guy? "Look at how he's dressed. What a shame if our daughter marries him." "Yes, this will turn the Millers into a joke." Lydia's father, William Miller, voiced his dissatisfaction. "Stop the nonsense. Henry is not a bumpkin. He has been living in the mountains and doesn't know much about the world. You guys should take care of him even more." "Their marriage is already decided," John said in a determined tone, ending the discussion. The couple did not dare to say anything more. Even though John had handed over the company's business to Lydia, no one dared to challenge him. Lydia understood that well. Hence, she was mentally prepared for that. The only surprise was that her fiancé was a bumpkin ruffian who took advantage of her vulnerability the previous night. He had also just left the mountains. It did not matter because she would show him the difference, forcing him to leave. Furthermore, it would be impossible for him to get his hands on her! Lydia drove Henry to the Civil Affairs Bureau at noon, as John requested. It did not take them long to finish the paperwork, and they came out very quickly. As he looked at Lydia's frosty face in the photo on the marriage certificate, Henry shook his head and said, "Why can't you look happier?" "Happier? How can I be happy marrying a ruffian like you who knows nothing but bragging?" "You're wrong. I'm pretty amazing." "You?" "Yes, especially in medical skills. Everyone calls me the divine doctor!" Pfft. "You are the divine doctor?! I am the god of medicine if you're the divine doctor! Stop wasting your breath. I'm not a three-year-old who you can fool." Lydia sneered. "Okay." Henry shrugged helplessly. "Good to hear you understand. What happened last night was an accident. We are from different worlds. Things will never be possible between us." "That's hard to say. You might admire me once you get to know me better. You might not be able to resist falling in love with me."

Chapter 4 Chapter 4

"Stop dreaming. I would rather be in love with a pig than with you!" Lydia said angrily. 'I didn't even like any of the outstanding young men pursuing me. Why would I like you?' "Lydia!" Meanwhile, an eye-catching woman approached them. She was gorgeous, and dressed up provocatively. Her hot pants barely covered her hips, matched with a tight crop top that perfectly showcased her body. She glanced at Henry casually. 'Dresses plainly but looks decent. But what does a bumpkin from the mountains like him have to match with Lydia? He's aiming for the moon.' "I'm here." Lydia greeted her, then turned toward Henry. "This is my best friend, Sarah.""Hello!" Henry extended his hand and smiled. Sarah did not even spare him a glance and grabbed Lydia's hand instead and said, "Let's go. Lewis and the others are waiting for us." Lydia nodded and invited Henry with her. "You can come with us!" Sarah was there to embarrass Henry so that he would eventually give up. They got into Lydia's car and drove quickly to their destination. It was a fencing club with opulent facilities that drew wealthy and powerful members. "Finally! You two beauties are here. Lewis has already started his match." Several young people greeted them as they went into the club. They completely ignored Henry. However, Henry did not take it personally. Lewis played elegantly on the fencing piste, and each swordplay drew the girls' attention. "How handsome! That swordplay is too graceful." Sarah praised him. "That's right, we are far behind Lewis in fencing." Meanwhile, Lewis defeated his opponent effortlessly. "Impressive! Randy is also skilled, but Lewis defeated him." Lydia praised the man. Lewis removed his helmet, approached them, and said, "Lydia, Sarah, you're here." He noticed Henry and asked, "Who is this?""Him?""He's the bumpkin I told you before." Sarah mocked. Lewis turned toward Henry. 'So, this is Henry Truman—nobody but a bumpkin. How dare you compete for Lydia with me?' 'He has overestimated himself and is looking for trouble.' He quickly regained his smile and said, "Oh, it's him. He's a guest now, regardless. Let him join us. "How about joining us for a match?" "Not interested." Henry shook his head. "Are you afraid?" "That's right. I don't want to be embarrassed." "Forget it, my bad. Fencing is a noble sport. A bumpkin like him probably can't even hold a sword properly, let alone come up the piste and make a fool of himself," Lewis said. Henry chuckled and said, "Not really. I simply have no interest in fancy stuff." "What did you say? How dare you, a bumpkin, look down on fencing? "Hiding your fear by insulting such a noble sport? Shame on you.""It doesn't matter if you don't join the game right away, but you have insulted this noble sport, so I must teach you a lesson today. Step up to the piste and fight like a man." Lewis sneered. "Fine, I'll give you the chance since you insist on making a fool of yourself." Henry shook his head and walked onto the piste.

Chapter 5 Chapter 5

The crowd was stunned momentarily, then burst into laughter. "This is hilarious! How can a bumpkin like you brag so much?" Henry could not be bothered with their mockery of him. He picked up a sword and asked, "Are we doing this?" Lewis was confused. "Don't you want to wear protective gear?""No need.""Fine, don't blame me if you get hurt." Lewis got annoyed and sneered. He even thought of crippling Henry. "Stop talking." Henry frowned. Everyone was speechless, and Lewis was getting mad. 'From his posture, I can see that he is a beginner. Yet, he is so arrogant. He must be looking for trouble.' Lydia felt a bit nervous for Henry. She despised Henry and wished to rid herself of him. However, she did not want to get him into serious trouble. "Relax, Lydia. Lewis knows what he's doing. Nothing will happen," Sarah said. Lydia nodded in agreement. Meanwhile, Lewis had taken a step forward, thrusting his sword rapidly. "How handsome is he? His movements are sharp, and there aren't any unnecessary moves.""Look at that guy, standing loose and unprepared, completely defenseless.""If Lewis hits him, that guy's finished.""He's still acting cool. Let's see how he—" Lewis uttered a pitiful cry, and his sword fell to the ground before he could finish speaking. How could that have happened? Everyone was dumbfounded, looking at each other in disbelief. Lydia was shocked. She thought Henry would be seriously injured. Henry threw the sword aside and walked down calmly. "That's impossible. You must've played a dirty trick.""That's right.""Shameless!""Show some guts and have a rematch." Everyone was dissatisfied. Lewis awakened as he heard the crowd proposing a rematch. The others might not notice, but Henry's movements were quick and precise. He might not have been good at fencing, but he had to be skilled in martial arts. A rematch would have no effect other than to embarrass him even more. "Forget it. No matter what, I lost. There's no need for excuses," Lewis said quickly. However, a cruel thought flashed in his mind. That damn bumpkin had embarrassed him, but it was useless in a world where power and influence mattered most. He would teach that bumpkin a lesson. The crowd praised him. "How generous! Lewis was clearly tricked, but he took it like a champ.""His generosity is incomparable. I wonder who will be lucky enough to marry him," Sarah said. Lydia nodded at Lewis. She appreciated what he had done. Henry must have done something ungrateful even without using dirty tricks to win. Lewis was pleased by the praise, especially the nod from his goddess. He looked at Henry with mockery and contempt. 'Even if you win, you are still a clown.' Henry remained calm and ignored Lewis. "Actually, I have something important to tell you today, Lydia." Lewis smiled as he spoke.

Chapter 6 Chapter 6

"Oh?" He had drawn everyone's attention. "Mr. Ford, the chairman of Everising Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting a banquet tonight to welcome a distinguished guest.""We didn't hear about that. Who is the guest who could make Mr. Ford greet him personally?""He's definitely a big shot. Only families that have joined the chamber are invited.""The Millers have applied to join the chamber, right? This is their chance," Lewis said to Lydia and smiled. "What do you mean?" Lydia responded immediately, showing great interest. Even though the Millers applied and were on the waiting list, their chances were slim. "I can bring one person to the banquet tonight. I'll introduce you to the chamber members if you come with me. Sounds good?""Well, if that's the case, I'll need to prepare for it." Lydia agreed instantly. "No need to prepare. The banquet won't happen." Henry shook his head upon hearing that. Everyone looked at Henry. Lydia was stunned at first, then she was furious. "Do you even know what you're talking about, Henry?""I'm serious. I've turned down Jeffery Ford's offer," Henry said. Pfft— Everyone burst into laughter. They looked at Henry as if he were a fool. Lydia was so angry that she could not speak. How could he say something so embarrassing? Furthermore, it could harm their family because he mentioned Jeffery Ford's name in full. After all, they were nothing compared to Jeffery Ford. What a fool with such ignorance and fearlessness. Lewis smirked and said, "I am not sure why you are against me. But I am sure that the banquet will take place tonight.""And if it doesn't?" Henry asked. "Enough, Henry!" Lydia was infuriated. "The Millers' top priority is to join the chamber. Stop trying to cause trouble." She turned to Lewis and said, "I'll count on you tonight, Lewis!""Don't worry, I'll take care of it," Lewis replied confidently. At that moment, his father called him on the phone. "Speaking of the banquet, my father is calling me." His father promised to call him once the banquet was confirmed. So he picked up the call with confidence. "Father!" Unfortunately, his father sounded depressed and was clearly upset. "The banquet has been canceled." He hung up right after that. The Brandons were in big trouble, and they were considering asking for a second chance at the banquet. However, the plan had been completely ruined. Lewis was stunned. He even wondered if something was wrong with his ears. Everyone had heard it because it was on loudspeaker. The whole room fell silent, and people looked at Lewis with doubts. The banquet was canceled? Did they hear it correctly? They thought about Henry's previous words as they gazed at him. "Were you serious just now?" Lydia asked. "Of course," Henry replied. It was true! Jeffery Ford must have decided not to hold the welcome banquet because Henry had refused to attend. Who was he? A young master from the capital?
