The Unwanted Mate
As a rogue omega, Evelyn has spent years hiding in the shadows, running from unknown dangers and clinging to her father's dying promise - that she would one day find her mate who would protect her. When she's captured by the Shadow Pack, she discovers her mate is none other than their powerful, arrogant Alpha Keiran Winter. To Keiran, an omega mate is a weakness he can't afford, but the moon goddess's bond cannot be easily broken. As Evelyn navigates the dangerous politics of pack life, she must decide if she can melt the ice around her mate's heart or if she'll forever remain the unwanted mate.Chapter 1 Chapter 1
"Run....Hide...Stay a-away....from p-people." The man croaked out, blood gushing out of his mouth. Evelyn sobbed, taking her father's head into her lap. "N-No........ I don't w-want to leave you...... You're the o-only one I h-have." She broke down, hugging the man close. "N-No, Eve...... You h-have to go.....y-you're not safe h-here...Just g-go.... I w-won't survive..." He coughed, trying not to choke on the red liquid. "D-Don't say that! You c-can........ I know you can survive......There must be s-some way......... Please stay w-with me..... I don't w-want to be a-alone........ I'm scared, papa." The ten-year-old little girl was terrified, thinking about a future without her father. "You w-won't be alone, Eve.... When t-the time is r-right.... you-you will meet your m-mate..... They will l-love you and protect you f-from all the d-danger......till then y-you h-have to hide, okay?" He gripped her little hand. "Promise me,""But-""N-No, p-promise me....s-so I can d-die in p-peace." He strained with the last bit of energy. Evelyn cried helplessly, loud sobs falling from her lips. "I-I p-promise..." She stuttered out, making the man release a weak sigh of relief. " N-Now.....go.... Run a-as fast as y-you can........ They m-might come here a-anytime..." He urged the girl as his hands weakly pushed her to stand up. "B-but what about you....""I'll be f-fine...I'll be fine as l-long as I k-know you're s-safe." He assured and tried to muster up a small smile but failed miserably. Evelyn didn't know why this was happening to her. She did nothing wrong. Her father too was innocent. Why are they attacking people who are trying to protect her? What do they want? There were thousands of questions running through her mind but she didn't have the time to waste thinking about them. "E-velyn, go. I-I can hear the-m coming." Her father urged, panic taking over his features. She looked at the dying man, more tears fell from her eyes as she leaned down to place a kiss on his forehead. "I-I love you, p-papa." Her lips trembled as she wiped the tears away. The man tried to smile through the pain. "I l-love you too, Eve......B-Be safe and remember w-what I said, okay?" The girl nodded, trying to clear her vision by blinking away the tears. She turned towards the woods, reluctantly taking small steps there. She looked back at her father once she reached the line of trees and gave a small smile to him before running deep into the woods. Even though she was afraid of the darkness, the woods gave her a sense of safety. A loud scream from where she came from made Evelyn stop on her track. She knew whose sound that was and it made her head spin. Her body trembled as she fell to her knees. Her father......... Her father was no more.... Evelyn gasped as she shot awake from her sleep. Even though the night was cold, she was sweating profusely. The nightmare wasn't something new to Evelyn. But despite haunting her for almost half of her life, it never failed to make her hot and bothered. She looked out of the treehouse to see that the sun has risen. It was early in the morning and sunlight peeking through trees made the woods look mesmerizing. The view calmed her disturbed mind. Evelyn liked this place. The treehouse, despite being empty, wasn't that bad. It was in an abandoned state when she first found it but a little cleaning and then it was perfect. There is a small waterfall near the treehouse which made a lot of animals come there. Evelyn loved animals and they loved her too. She has been staying in the forest for ten years but never got attacked by any of them. Squirrels and monkeys are the ones that amused her the most. They always bring her fruits and flowers, unknown to her why. At first, she was surprised but now it has become a usual thing. Where ever she goes, she always gets these little gifts from them. She has also encountered the main predators of the forest but they never tried to bother her. Once a big cat walked past her like she's invisible. She didn't know the reason why they behaved like this towards her. She always thought it was because she's a werewolf, even though she doesn't have an inner wolf. The animals made her feel safe and that's why she liked them. They kept her safe from the people who were chasing her. Safe from her own kind.... Evelyn climbed down from the treehouse, walking towards the waterfall. She sat down on one of the big rocks, enjoying the sound of water and the forest. She should leave here soon. She's been staying here for almost two months and it's not safe here anymore. It's a pity because she likes this place very much. She has to move and also buy some clothes and necessities since winter is coming. Going to the small villages to buy things is always exciting for Evelyn since she could see what people like her are doing. But it also made her a little sad that she can't have a normal life like them. She wanted to be like them. Laughing and enjoying their life with their loved ones. Loved ones......... Evelyn doesn't have anyone to love. She forgot how love felt like. Her only hope was finding her mate, but now she was starting to lose that too.....
Chapter 2 Chapter 2
Evelyn took the basket before setting off to search for some fruits and herbs. She has to collect them and sell them in the nearby village market so she can buy clothes and necessities. The forest gave her food and water but it can't give her blankets and shoes. She needs money for that. Earning money wasn't that hard for Evelyn since she knew where all the rare herbs grew. She could even cultivate them if she wants which was a plus point of living in the forest. The herbs are going to be costly around this time of the year because winter will be coming soon. She could use the extra money to buy a new blanket, the old one was torn already. She was contemplating staying in the treehouse till winter is over but then decided against it. She should move as soon as she gets the money and things. Finding a place to stay before winter comes can be a hard task and she didn't have any time to waste. It's been two days since Evelyn left the treehouse to find a new place but so far she didn't have any luck. The cold was starting to bother her. It wouldn't be good if she caught a cold because she doesn't even have a place to rest. The bag with her clothes and things are starting to feel heavier as she takes each step. Evelyn wanted to give up. She didn't know why she was still holding on. Always running. Always hiding. Always living in fear. What was the point of living like this? Sometimes she really wanted to end it all but something inside told her to hold on, whispering to her to be strong and patient. Just like it was telling her now to keep walking towards the north. Evelyn stuffed her hands into her worn-out jacket to warm them up. She regrets not buying a pair of gloves when she went to the market. The cold was beginning to make her hand itch. She needed to find a place before nightfall. Spending the night in the cold would definitely make her ill. Falling ill in a forest without even a place to rest is a nightmare for anyone. Evelyn looked around her. The distance between trees increasing as she took each step. She knew she shouldn't be going to clear areas. It's not safe there. But a clear place meant more sunlight and Evelyn needed the sunlight as much as she can get at the moment. The sound of running water made her stop on her tracks. It wasn't that loud so it couldn't be a waterfall or a river. A stream perhaps? She slowly walked towards the sound hoping to find a treehouse or even a tent. She desperately needed a place that could shelter her for tonight. The girl stopped, surprised as she stared ahead at the abandoned cabin. She stood there for a minute analyzing the cabin. Who built a cabin in the middle of nowhere? Why did they abandon it? The cabin looks fine. The roof was okay even though the wood was cracked here and there. It even had a door. Does anyone still come here? She had a lot of questions but she didn't have the time to ponder on them as the sun would be setting in a few hours. She hurriedly ran to the cabin, making as much as sound possible so if any animals were inside, they would know her arrival. She didn't want to scare any animal by just barging in there unexpectedly. Evelyn slowly opened the cabin door, it wasn't locked since the doorknob looked almost broken. The cabin was pretty much empty except for a rusting iron table. The floor was dusty and covered with dry leaves. She will have to clean it so she could sleep on there. Evelyn put her backpack down before walking out of the cabin. After a few minutes of trying, she made a broom out of tree leaves so she could clean the cabin floor. The sun was going down. She has to clean and set up a fire as fast as possible before the cold becomes unbearable. The dry leaves will be hard to burn once it's cold. After an hour, the girl successfully set up the fire. Evelyn sat there looking around. The place is beautiful and comfortable but unfortunately, she can't stay here for long. Open places like this meant people would come here often. She has to leave and search for another place tomorrow. Evelyn took the iron table and placed it behind the door so it won't open because of the wind. The cabin was warm because of the little fire she made. She made a place for her to sleep on the floor and snuggled into her new blanket. Evelyn tried to sleep but she couldn't get her mind free from all the thoughts running through it. One of the biggest doubts Evelyn has right now is about her mate. Will she ever meet her mate? How can she meet them if she keeps hiding in the forest? What if they had already given up on her? All those thoughts made her heart heavy. She didn't want to burden her mate. They deserve to be happy and if she finds them she decided she will try her best to make them happy. Maybe she can find her happiness too... Evelyn jolted awake the next morning, hearing shouts and murmurs outside the cabin. She frantically looked around her to see that the cabin door was still closed, but there were voices of people talking outside. She took the blanket and stuffed it into her bag, ready to run if she needed to. The girl slowly walked to the door to peek through the little hole beside it. There were three men, two of them talking to each other while the other person looked around the cabin. 'I shouldn't have stayed here. I should've known it wasn't safe....I'm so stupid.' The girl internally cursed herself for her decision. "Guys, I'm going to see who's inside," One of them said taking a step towards the cabin. They were all high ranked wolves. One could easily tell that by the way they looked and carried themselves. There's no way Evelyn could escape from their hands. "Calvin, wait. Take out your gun." One of them shouted making Evelyn tremble. 'A g-gun?' She clutched her bag, slowly moving to the corner of the cabin. "No need for the gun. It's an omega, I can smell them." The guy, who's named Calvin, replied walking towards the door. Evelyn could hear the heavy footsteps of the guy coming near and it made her heart thump in fear. 'This is it. They're gonna kill me.' Her eyes blurred as she hugged herself. The iron table fell to the floor as the guy pushed open the door with force. The loud sound made Evelyn flinch. The guy looked around before his eyes fell on the girl curled up in the corner. He called the others who were outside, ready to attack if needed. The three men looked at the girl trembling in fear. She was a little pale and had long blonde hair. The girl didn't look like a threat but they couldn't just let her go even if she's an omega. "I'm going to link the Alpha to tell him that we found a rogue omega," One of them said and the others nodded. "Hey.....what's your name? Where are you from? " One guy asked her, trying to stop her from panicking. He had brown skin and curly hair, and it made his green eyes stand out. He was gorgeous just like the other two. They looked so powerful and elegant which made Evelyn feel so small. She remained silent, too afraid to say something. The guy sighed, looking at the other. "What are we gonna do with her? " He asked the guy who's named Calvin. Calvin shrugged, uninterested. "I don't know, let's do what the Alpha says." He said, leaning on the wooden wall. "Alpha is here, " They heard the guy who went outside shout. The two guys straightened up their posture. "Where's the omega? " The new voice made Evelyn shiver. The voice sounded so deep and powerful. 'It must be the Alpha.' She thought as the said guy stepped into the cabin. Evelyn didn't have the time to think because suddenly she was engulfed in a strong scent of cinnamon and honey. She looked at the man who stood there towering over her. He was gorgeous.....He had midnight black hair and sparkling blue eyes. Evelyn wanted to touch him, hold him, and be close to him so bad. There was something inside her telling her to go to him. She didn't know what was happening. The only thing she knew was that her heart is jumping in excitement and she felt happy. She felt happy and content for the first time in forever. 'What is happening? Why am I feeling like this? Is this what I think it is? Is he-Is he my mate?' There were a lot of questions in her mind. Evelyn looked at the man's eyes that were now a shade darker as he stared at her. He had an unknown expression on his face. She tried to smile at him but stopped when she saw him frown. "Her? " He pointed towards her. His voice laced with so much disappointment and disgust that it made the poor girl whimper. She searched her mate's face, hoping to see even just a little bit of happiness but there was nothing except pure frustration. Evelyn felt her vision blur. The only hope she was holding on to was falling in front of her like a helpless sandcastle. This was her worst nightmare........
Chapter 3 Chapter 3
The man stared at her with a distasteful look on his face. Evelyn wanted to crawl into a hole. It was obvious that her mate wasn't happy with her. She doesn't blame him. How can anyone be happy with a girl like her? She was weak and uneducated, and doesn't even know how to defend herself. Her mate is the alpha of a Pack. Evelyn knew how important is an Alpha and Luna to a Pack. She doesn't think she's qualified for that responsibility. "Take her to the pack doctor," The Alpha said, his face void of any kind of emotion. Evelyn didn't dare to make eye contact, for some reason she knew that the Alpha didn't like it. Her mate then walked out of the cabin, not even bothering to give the girl a second glance. Evelyn stared at her other half leaving, his scent disappearing with him. She looked down, unable to hold back the tears in her eyes. She didn't want to cry in front of the strangers. "Hey," The curly-haired man said, scratching the back of his neck. The guy didn't know how to handle a crying omega. "Umm.. You need to come with us. Don't worry, we won't hurt you." He said gently. Evelyn didn't know what to say. She had to stay with her mate. Staying apart from one's mate can cause serious physical and mental issues to both of them and hurting her mate was the last thing she wanted. The omega wiped her tears, trying to give the man a small smile as she stood up. Her legs were still shaking from the not so pleasant encounter with her mate. She sighed, taking her bag from the floor. "Come on," The man said to the omega as he stepped out of the cabin. Evelyn slowly followed him, clutching the bag close to her chest. Evelyn felt awkward and uncomfortable walking with the strangers because no one was saying anything. After fifteen minutes of walking, they reached the area where there were a lot of houses. Most of them were made of wood and designed similarly. They were built at a certain distance, close but not so close. The number of wooden houses increased as they walked ahead. The place was clean and beautiful. There were a lot of trees around and a road that passed through connecting all the houses. There were iron benches on each side of the road along with waste bins and flower pots. The place looked so close to nature despite being closer to the city. The guys stopped when they reached a house that was three times bigger than the others. "You guys go ahead and take her to Amelia. I'm going to look for Alpha," Calvin said to the others before walking inside. They took her to the right side of the house where there was a small cabin, bigger than where she slept yesterday. In front of the cabin, there were different types of plants and most of them were roses. The curly-haired guy went in first, leaving the omega with the other one. Evelyn didn't know anyone around her. Her mate didn't even bother to introduce himself or ask about her. It pained her to even think about her mate at this point. After a minute, the guy came out with a young lady beside him. She had ginger hair and green eyes. She looked beautiful and elegant. 'She must be the one Calvin was talking about.' "Hello dear, I'm Amelia." The lady said with a small smile. Her smile made Evelyn feel a certain warmth that she hadn't felt in years. The omega looked at her eyes, which was shining with kindness and....pity? "I'm the pack doctor," The lady grabbed her hands, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "I have to do some tests to see if you're healthy, you look so pale and your body temperature is also really high. Tell me if you're uncomfortable, okay?" Evelyn gave her a small nod before she took her into the cabin. The cabin was really spacious. Amelia sat her in one of the six beds. There was a comfortable silence between them as Amelia checked her. Being with her made Evelyn feel so calm. Maybe it's because she's another woman or maybe it's because of how gentle and caring she was to her. "You have a fever. Don't worry, it's just because of the cold, it'll go away in a day." Amelia said, opening a cabinet that was filled with medicines. She took two bottles from there before turning her attention back to the omega. "What is your name, dear?" She asked the girl who was fiddling with the hem of her sweater. "E-Evelyn," The girl said, her voice hoarse from not talking for a long time."W-what is this Pack called?" Evelyn needed answers, she knew she has to stay here as long as her mate needs her, but the girl didn't even know what her mate's name is.. "This is the Shadow Pack, dear. Have you ever heard about us?" Evelyn shook her head, she didn't know anything about any packs other than her previous one, which she had to leave at the age of ten. "What's the Alphas' name?" She asked looking down at her feet. She wanted to know so bad what his name is. "His name is Keiran. He took charge as the Alpha two years ag-""Amelia," There was a knock on the door, making Amelia stop halfway. She rushed to the door, opening it to see one of the guys from before. "Alpha wants you to show the omega a room, give her something to eat, and also tell her he wants to see her in two hours." He said before leaving in a hurry. Evelyn heard what he said. Her mate wants to meet her and that thought alone made her anxious. 'Is he going to reject me?' Her eyes welled up as she thought about every possible thing her mate's going to tell her. "Let's go to the Packhouse, shall we?" Evelyn jumped out of her thoughts as Amelia gently squeezed her shoulder. She had a feeling that the doctor knew about her being the mate of their Alpha. Evelyn gave her a nod as she stood up, taking her bag into her hands. Amelia took her to the Packhouse, a few people, who were passing by, stopped and stared at the new omega confused. Their Pack never really welcomed rouges to be a member. If you have to get into the Pack, you would have to pass a lot of tests. It was to make sure that the new member is not a spy from other Packs. So the presence of a new omega was a surprise to everyone. "This is your room.....for now. Go in and freshen up, I'll give you some clothes, okay?" Amelia said as she opened the door. The room was an average room with a bed, a small bedside table and a closet.Even though it wasn't that big, it looked so spacious to the omega since it was her first time staying in a room like this. She nodded to the doctor and went into the room. Amelia followed her inside." There's the bathroom," She said, pointing to the attached bathroom. "Come down after you wash up, okay? I'll give you something to eat, you must be hungry." She patted Evelyn on her head, which made her slightly flinch because she wasn't used to these kinds of treatments. "The kitchen is downstairs, on the left side so don't get lost searching for it." Amelia chuckled before going out of the room. There was a sweater and a pair of jeans on the bed when Evelyn got out of the shower. They looked new and expensive, unlike the ones she had. Evelyn went down as Amelia told her to do. Searching for the kitchen wasn't a hard task because a mouth-watering scent engulfed her as soon as she got downstairs. She followed the scent to the kitchen to see Amelia and two other ladies cooking something. "Oh, you're here." Amelia said as she saw Evelyn." Your hair looks so smooth and silky. Did you use the shampoo?" She asked coming closer to the omega. "I-I'm sorry, wasn't I supposed to? " The omega looked down, fiddling with the hem of her sweater. "Oh no, dear, you're free to use everything. Come sit down, I'll give you something to eat." She said, dragging Evelyn to the table. It was the most Evelyn ate in ten years. Amelia was making her eat everything on her plate, telling her she has to take care of her health. The food was delicious as it smelled. After Evelyn finished eating Amelia gave her two pills. "Here, take this. It will help with your fever." She said smiling. "Also I made this herbal tea for you, it's good for your throat." Amelia said, giving the omega a cup of tea. Evelyn smiled as she took the pills and the cup from her hand. The warm tea made Evelyn sigh in relief. This was all a new feeling to her. "Alpha said he's waiting for you on the third floor," Evelyn looked around to see a girl standing behind her. "You're the new omega, right? " The girl asked her to which Evelyn nodded. "You should go there soon, he's not very patient." The girl gave her a small smile before walking off. Evelyn looked at Amelia who smiled at her. "Go talk to him, it will be alright." She patted her hair gently. Evelyn took in a deep breath. She will have to face fate no matter how many times she runs away, so why not now?
Chapter 4 Chapter 4
Evelyn hesitantly stood in front of the door not knowing what to do. She was afraid of what her mate is about to say. The girl had lost all of her hope about being accepted. 'What if he doesn't like me? What if he's already married? W-what if he r-rejects me?' Alarming thoughts passed through Evelyn's mind as she stood there fidgeting with the hem of her sweater. It took her a minute to calm down and bring herself to finally find the courage to go into the room. Taking in a deep breath, Evelyn slowly raised her hand to knock. "Come in," A deep voice came from inside the room, making her hand pause in mid-air. The omega gasped and stepped back, surprised at how her mate knew she was there. The alpha smelled the presence of the girl the minute she got there. It was an alluring scent of jasmine that was so hard to ignore. He was waiting for the omega to knock but spoke up when he lost his patience. Evelyn slowly opened the door before peeking in. The scent of her mate hit the omega like a wave, drowning her in it. She took in a deep breath, closing her eyes as she enjoyed the comfort it gave her. The alpha cleared his throat making Evelyn snap back into reality. She looked at the man sitting on his office chair, intently looking back at her with his piercing blue eyes. He wore a black T-shirt and blue jeans, his muscles straining under the thin fabric as he crossed his arms. Alphas are naturally strong and muscular. Their domineering aura is one of the things that make them stand out from other ranks but Evelyn knew there was something different about the man in front of her. He didn't look just domineering but also extremely dangerous to mess with. Evelyn clutched her sweater nervously. She didn't dare to make eye contact with the alpha because she knew that wouldn't be good for her. He stood up making the omega take a step back as alarming words flashed through her mind. The alpha paused, his eyes darkening at her reaction. "Stay there," He said, his voice sounding so deep and powerful that it made Evelyn almost cower in submission. He strode towards her, "What's your name omega?" He stood a foot away from the girl, hovering over her. Evelyn kept her eyes on the ground, too nervous to look up. She felt her throat close, not interacting with people for a long time and her anxiety caused the girl to forget how to respond properly. She opened her mouth but no words came out. "Answer me," The alpha said, his voice hard and demanding that it made Evelyn yelp. "E-Evelyn," She stuttered out, eyes still trained on the floor. "What were you doing in the forest?""I-I live t-there,""I have never seen you there before," He cocked an eyebrow at her. "I..... Umm.... It's b-because I-I move around a l-lot," The girl peeked at the alpha through her long lashes but quickly regretted it and looked down as she found him staring back at her. "Look at me," He commanded as he gripped her chin, making her look up at him. Evelyn felt herself shiver at the touch even though it was a cold and hurtful gesture. "Do you know how to fight?" Evelyn wanted to shake her head but the strong grip on her chin prevented it. "N-no," She whispered out, trying to make less eye contact as possible. The alpha grunted in annoyance, "Do you even have a wolf? I can't sense it," He asked irritably. Evelyn gulped not knowing how to respond. She doesn't have an inner wolf, it makes her a lot more weaker than other omegas because she can't shift and fight in her wolf form. She took in a shaky breath as the grip on her chin became tight. "I-I d-don't,""So you can't shift?" Evelyn felt her vision blur as she replied, " N-no," The alpha frowned, dissatisfaction and anger crawling over his perfect features making the omega whimper. "Just how pathetic can you get any more than this, omega?" He leaned down and whispered in the girl's ear. Evelyn let her tears roll down as soon as she heard the words. She had expected this to happen but it still hurts. The girl bit her lips as she closed her eyes. The man stepped back, rubbing his temple in irritation. "Where is your family?" He asked, frowning as he looked at the girl. Evelyn took a step back, hugging herself to make her look smaller. "I-I....I'm an o-orphan,""Did they leave you or die? ""D-died," The omega cried, recalling the memories of her father. She never talked about her father after that tragic incident because didn't have the courage to look back at the awful memories even though her nightmares always reminded her of that. "Stop crying, you're annoying me," The alpha spat, making Evelyn yelp and step back. The smell of his anger filled the room, suffocating the omega. Evelyn whimpered as she bowed her head in submission. "Why are you crying, huh?" He said and harshly pulled on the omega's blonde locks, making her look up at him again. "I'm the one who got a pathetic creature like you as my mate. I'm the one who should be sad, so stop acting so dramatic." Evelyn felt like everything just ended. The last flame of hope she hid in the corner of her heart effortlessly died from the cold words her mate threw at her. Quickly wiping her tears, Evelyn took a deep breath in an attempt to stop crying. She knew she'll never be accepted. She'll never be anything important to him other than a burden that he has to bear for the rest of his life. It hurt her to think that but she had accepted it as the truth. "You can't be my Luna," The alpha stepped back, calm and unbothered as he said the words. Evelyn wanted to cry and beg the alpha to not reject her but she knew that'll only make the alpha hate her more. " A weak Luna means a weak Alpha and I'm not someone who wants to be seen as weak because my mate is an omega," Evelyn bit her lip as the alpha spoke. "My father did so much to build our Pack into one of the powerful Packs in the world and you becoming the Luna will destroy everything." The alpha spat frustrated while Evelyn flinched at every single word he said. "S-sorry," Evelyn muttered instinctively. She doesn't even know why she was saying sorry. She didn't ask to be his mate, it wasn't something she could control but she hoped her apology would calm her mate at least a little bit. The alpha scoffed, turning towards the omega with an annoyed look. "Sorry? What are you sorry about? Being so weak?" He strode towards the omega and roughly pulled her to flush against his strong chest. Evelyn yelped and whimpered in his strong hold. She quickly looked down not wanting to make the alpha mad any more than he already is. Getting irritated at the omega who refused to meet his eyes, the alpha gripped her chin and forcefully made her look up at him. The omega stared at her mate, fear swimming in her bright green eyes. For a minute, she forgot what situation she was currently in as the captivating ocean blue eyes of the alpha stared back at her. She had to admit that the man was gorgeous, he had sharp and perfect features that would make people take a second glance at him. Evelyn could feel his breathing and heartbeat because of being so close to him. He felt so warm.....and she wanted to stay in his hold forever. A light brush of fingers on her neck brought Evelyn back to reality. Her eyes widened as she looked at the alpha. " You have nothing useful to me other than your body," He whispered in her ear, leaning down to brush his nose against the crook of her neck. The alpha sighed, taking in the exotic scent of jasmine. His hands turned tighter around the omega as he brought her closer to him. Evelyn didn't know what was happening. She was confused at her mate's behavior. The alpha seemed so mad just a minute ago. 'Is my pheromones affecting him?' She thought as the alpha continued to grip her tight. The cinnamon and honey scent of her mate was starting to affect her too as the time passed. She had to get him to come back to his senses before both of them do something absurd that they'll regret later. "A-Alpha?" Evelyn whispered, afraid to raise her voice. The shaky voice of the omega made the man snap back into reality. He immediately pushed the girl off of him, making her stumble back with a yelp. The alpha's eyes turned cold as he rubbed his temples. He cursed under his breath before turning to the girl who was trembling, hugging herself. "Get out," He spat, his voice cold as ice. "And don't come in front of me unless I call for you," Evelyn didn't look up, her eyes stayed on the floor as she muttered a quiet 'yes' before sprinting to the door, eager to escape from the suffocating smell of the alpha's anger in the room. The omega broke down as soon as she got out of the room. She recalled every word her mate said to her. 'At least he didn't reject me,' She thought as a sigh slipped past her lips. 'I want to be strong.......I want to win my alpha's heart....'
Chapter 5 Chapter 5
"Evelyn, are you alright?" Amelia's worried voice made the omega snap out of her thoughts. She was staring mindlessly at the window when Amelia came to her room. "You seemed to be in deep thoughts," The tan-skinned doctor said, amusement slipping through her voice. "I... It was nothing... " Evelyn looked down, she still felt a little awkward talking to people even though Amelia did her best to make Evelyn feel at home. Evelyn couldn't see this place as her home no matter how much she tried to. She won't ever feel warmth in this place as long as her mate doesn't accept her... "How's your fever?" Amelia asked as her hand was immediately on Evelyn's forehead, checking the temperature. "It's okay, I think. I feel a lot better now," Amelia nodded, "You should still drink the herbal tea, it's good for your health." She smiled at the omega. Evelyn was about to reply when she saw a fluffy blonde head peeking at her from the door. She leaned and looked past Amelia to see the blonde hair disappear immediately. There was a refreshing scent of roses in the air confirming the fact that whoever peeked at her from the door was another omega. Amelia saw Evelyn keep looking at the door amused, she frowned before the scent of fresh roses hit her. The doctor rolled her eyes because she knew who it was, "Rain, come inside and stop hiding. We know you're there, " She said turning to the door. Amelia waited for a few seconds, staring at the half-opened door. "Rain," She called out again when no one came inside. After a few seconds, a blonde fluffy head peeked inside again. A little gasp was heard before a short blonde pouting boy stepped out from behind the wall and came inside. Evelyn stared at the cute boy in front of her. He looked like an angel who came from heaven. The blonde hair, sparkling blue eyes, and pale smooth skin made him look so ethereal. It was obvious from his features that the boy is an omega. It was Evelyn's first time seeing a male omega because they're so rare. "It's rude to spy on someone like this, Rain." Amelia sweetly scolded the boy who only pouted more. "I.... I-I'm sorry, I was j-just curious," He stuttered out, as his doe eyes stared at the pack doctor. "You could have just come in, you idiot," The doctor chuckled and ruffled the boy's fluffy hair making him giggle. "This is Evelyn, the Alpha's mate." Evelyn watched as Amelia introduced her to the boy. "H-Hi, I'm R-Rain," The boy shyly introduced himself to her, making Evelyn smile at him. "Are you going to be the next luna!? It's the first time an omega is going to be the luna, I'm so happy!" The boy chirped happily, his eyes disappearing as he smiled. Evelyn's smile flattered when she heard the words, she gulped not knowing how to answer. "I.... I'm not... ""She just got here yesterday, let's talk about the luna thing later," Amelia said, flicking the boy's forehead. Evelyn sighed, thanking the doctor with a small smile. "Sorry... " The boy said pouting. "It's okay, how old are you?" Evelyn asked the omega who immediately smiled at the question. "I'm seventeen, eighteen soon in a few months!" He chirped with a big smile adorning his face. "He's excited because he'll be able to find his mate soon," Amelia chuckled as Rain looked down shyly. "Your mate is going to be so lucky to have you, " Evelyn smiled, ruffling his soft hair. "Thank you..." Rain blushed and smiled, playing with his fingers. A high pitched voice of someone calling Rain made the three all turn towards the door. The boy gasped, "Oh no, I have to go. I was supposed to help Melissa make a new soup! Bye luna, I'll come back in a few minutes!" He shouted as he hurriedly ran to the door. Amelia chuckled looking at the running boy, "He's beautiful, isn't he?" The doctor asked with a small smile. "Yes, he is... but was he born here?" Evelyn asked confused. "Yeah, it must be confusing because he looks Asian. That's because his mother was Korean. The former Alpha's friend was her mate, they found each other when the Alpha and his friend visited her Pack. She moved here with him and joined our Pack..... " Amelia trailed off thinking about the past. "Unfortunately, they were both killed in a rouge attack when Rain was only four years old......... It was such a tragic incident..... " Evelyn was shocked to hear about the tragedy. The omega looked so happy and carefree.... No one could say he went through something traumatic like that. "Rain was raised by the former Luna, she loves him like her own son. He's so precious..... " Amelia sighed, looking down. "But things aren't easy for him too..... The Pack members are not too fond of him because he's a male omega......and most of the omegas on the other hand don't like him because they're jealous of how beautiful he is. He spends most of his time alone because he's always ignored....... I just hope he finds his mate soon and they will treat him right..." Evelyn looked down, she hoped the boy wouldn't find a mate like hers. Instead, she wanted the boy to be with someone who would love and cherish him. Amelia shook her head before turning to Evelyn, "Urgh! Sorry for telling you all these sad things, I know you're already disturbed." Amelia knew about the things happening between the Alpha and Evelyn. It wasn't so hard to see because they weren't behaving like how the newfound mates usually did. Evelyn smiled at her, "It's okay.....uhh....do you m-mind if I ask s-something?" The omega fiddled with her fingers nervously. "Go ahead, I don't mind," The doctor said chuckling at the girl's nervousness. "Umm....d-did you find your m-mate?" Amelia smiled at the question, " Yes, I did. He's one of the Pack warriors," Her eyes lit up as she talked about her mate. "H-How was it when you found out you two were mates?" She asked the doctor, curiously. "It was like magic..... I felt complete the moment I took in his heavenly scent and I knew I would love him forever when I first saw him smile at me," She muttered dreamily, making Evelyn's lips twitch into a small smile. "Urgh! I must sound so cheesy!" Amelia facepalmed. "Speaking of mates I wanted to tell you something," She said turning towards the omega. Evelyn fought a frown as looked at the sudden change of expression on the doctor's face. " Since you found your mate, your heat might arrive soon......" The doctor cautiously told the omega. Evelyn paled as she heard the words." W-what?""I know you're nervous but I had to tell you this so you could be prepared," Amelia stared at her sympathetically. "W-when?..... C-can you tell me w-when will it h-happen?" Evelyn stuttered out. " I can't tell you exactly when......It depends on the bond you have with your mate.... If you two are always away from each other, your body and your wolves would force you two together by going into heat or rut." The doctor explained. Evelyn gulped as she listened to what the doctor said. The omega thought of all the bad things that could happen.......... and it feels like this is going to cause a lot of problems....
Chapter 6 Chapter 6
"How's it, Luna?" One of the omega maids asked as Evelyn tasted the soup. "It's really good," Evelyn smiled. "Also, you can call me Evelyn. I'm not the Luna..." She looked down. It felt awkward to Evelyn that almost everyone was calling her something she isn't. "That's okay, you're going to be the Luna soon." The maid chirped happily before going to take care of her awaiting chores. Almost every omega in the Pack is excited about Evelyn becoming the next Luna because it's the first time an omega is taking over that position. It's natural for them to think that they finally have someone who understands them. Evelyn sighed. She couldn't tell the omegas about how complicated her relationship is with the Alpha and it made her heart heavy because she was giving them hope about something that is most likely not going to happen. "Luna! Good morning!" A high pitched voice made Evelyn turn around to see the smiling blonde omega. "Good morning, Rain." She couldn't help but smile back at the boy. He really has an infectious smile. "Can you come with me? I have something to show you." Rain said tugging on Evelyn's sleeve. "What is it? " She questioned, curious why the omega was so excited about in the morning. "It's a surprise, come on." Rain giggled as he dragged Evelyn with him. Soon they were out of the packhouse and walking towards the back. The number of trees increased as they walked. After a few minutes, they reached the place that made her gasp. The boy giggled at her awestruck expression. "Beautiful, isn't it? " He asked her. "I don't know what to say...." The place was the most beautiful place Evelyn saw in her life. She stared at the gorgeous view in front of her. There was a small pond which had Cristal clear water and beautiful small fishes were carelessly roaming in it. Around the pond were different types of plants that had eye-catching flowers on them, mostly yellow, light violet, and red-colored ones. Some flowers were floating around in the pond. There was no piece of land visible in the area as the ground was covered with pink and white flower petals. There were big bloomed flower trees which made the place seem like heaven. Evelyn frowned confused, "How? It's almost winter... How are there so many flowers?" The boy smiled, "These are plants and trees that blossom in winter," He said, his voice brimming with excitement. "Look! This one is a cherry tree, it's my favorite." He said pointing to the tree with pink flowers. "And this is a magnolia, it's beautiful, isn't it? " Evelyn couldn't help but smile looking at the boy who was happily talking about his garden. "This one right here is a snowdrift crabapple and the one next to it is a Loquat." He pointed to the two trees. "I like crabapple's flowers, white flowers calms my mind." He said going to stand under the tree. "Loquat has white flowers too but it blossomed early this time and now it's all fruits." He pointed to the tree which had plum-like bright yellow fruits hanging on it. "Loquat's flowers have a really sweet scent. I come here often when it blooms because of that." Evelyn looked at the tree again. There were small birds on it, some chirping and some eating the sweet-smelling fruit. "Whoever made this garden is a thoughtful person. I always thought winter was boring because there won't be any flowers but this is amazing. Now I have something to look forward to in winter." Evelyn turned to the boy who smiled at her but there was a small hint of sadness in his eyes. "It's my mother..." He looked at the flowers with a fond smile. "My mother loved flowers, she planted most of the trees and plants in our front garden. The wisteria was her favorite.... She always got sad when winter came because there weren't any flowers. My father wasn't happy with her being sad so he went and bought different kinds of plants and trees that blossom in winter." Rain chuckled. "The Loquat was specially imported from Japan. The cherry tree first bloomed when she was pregnant with me...... She was so happy..... " He sighed. "I don't remember much about them.... Most of the things I know about them are from the stories the former Luna and Amelia told me." Evelyn didn't know what to say to the boy. She never had to comfort anyone before because she was alone in the forest for half of her life. "They would be so proud of you for taking care of their garden," Evelyn said in the hope to cheer up the boy. Rain smiled, "Not a lot of people know about this little garden...... which helps me to come here when I'm feeling down. I'm showing you this so you could also come here when you want to relax.""That's so thoughtful of you," Evelyn ruffled the blonde boy's hair. "I'll definitely come here often because this is the coolest place I've ever seen." She smiled. "The front garden is also amazing, it's just there aren't any flowers because it's winter now. It's so beautiful when it's spring." It seemed like the omega likes the flowers just as much as his mother did. "What would you do with the fishes when it's winter? Won't the water temperature become very low?" Evelyn asked looking down at the fishes swimming in the small pond. "I move them to the indoor tank." He said as he shivered because of the wind that suddenly blew. Evelyn hugged herself to protect herself from the cold. Both of the omegas forgot to wear a coat and now they were regretting it. "Luna look!" Rain shouted looking around. The wind made the petals fall from the tree making it seem like it was snowing. Rain giggled bouncing around to catch as much as petals he can in his palm. Laughing, Evelyn joined him and caught the flower petals as much as she can. The boy tiptoed and sneakily dumped the petals he caught on Evelyn's head who gasped in surprise. Evelyn wanted revenge. She chased Rain with her handful of petals to dump them on the boy's head. Both of the omegas were so lost in playing the petals that they didn't see the people watching them. "Omega!" A booming voice made the omegas stop on their tracks. Evelyn stiffened. It was her mate's voice. The one that made her cower in submission. Gulping, she slowly turned to face the fuming alpha staring at her.
Chapter 7 Chapter 7
"What are you doing here?" The Alpha asked, his jaws clenching as he eyed the omega. His Beta, Calvin, was right beside him—staring at the omegas uninterested. "I-I... W-we were just—" Evelyn stuttered not knowing what to say. Rain quickly moved and found a safe spot behind the girl. "Who gave you permission to go out?" The Alpha asked, taking long strides towards the omegas. "N-No one, I-I didn't k-know I had to ask—I'm s-sorry." Evelyn nervously chewed on her lips. The flower petals falling from her hair as she lowered her head in submission. "Don't repeat this next time when you step out of the Packhouse." The Alpha scolded as he glared at the omega. Evelyn just meekly nodded in reply, afraid to speak up. Keiran shifted his gaze to the boy behind her. "You're hanging out with him?" He huffed staring at the omega hiding behind Evelyn. Rain looked down, not daring to meet the Alpha's eyes. "What a perfect combo," Keiran let out a sardonic chuckle. "The weak and the weakest." He mocked the omegas. Evelyn watched as her mate's face settled on a distasteful expression. Rain whimpered hearing the Alpha insult them. Even though he's been hearing this for years, he still couldn't get used to the pain it caused him. Evelyn wanted to run off from there. Every insult her mate threw at her was piercing her heart like arrows. Soon it will break into tiny pieces that can't be put together. "You're going to meet the elders in the evening. Be ready, I'll send someone to bring you when it's time." He said before walking away from the omega. Evelyn dumbfoundedly stared at her mate as he walked away with his Beta. She was confused about who the elders are but didn't dare to question the Alpha. "Luna.....Don't the Alpha like you?" Rain's soft voice snapped her back into reality. Evelyn sighed and mustered up a small smile that didn't reach her eyes. It wasn't that hard to see the pain she's trying to hide. "It seems like he's not that fond of me,""But why? He's your mate.... Don't mates love each other? " The boy asked confused. From what he heard, mates are every wolf's biggest blessing. "I-it's like that sometimes.....It's because he's the Alpha.... a-and a weak mate is a b-burden for him," Evelyn looked down in an attempt to hide her watery eyes from the boy. "T-Then what about me? Will my mate h-hate me too? " He stuttered out making Evelyn's eyes widen. "No! It's not like that, oh goddess, that's not what I meant—" She said hastily. Evelyn didn't want the boy to lose his hope in being happy with his mate. She cupped his face and made him look up at her. "—not everyone's like that. Your mate won't hate you. You're too cute for that." She smiled. Rain flushed red as he heard the words. Not a lot of people complimented him like this. "Hey! You two!" A high-pitched voice made the omegas turn around to see Amelia walking towards them followed by a familiar curly-haired guy. "Alpha was looking for you...... Did he come here? ""Yeah..... He left a few minutes ago.""What did he say to you?" Amelia asked the omega, her voice laced with both curiosity and worry. "Something about meeting the elders in the evening," Evelyn fought a frown as she said it. "Who are the elders?""Elders are people who make important decisions in the Pack. They are a group of people which includes former Alphas and Lunas, and former Betas and their mate. Currently, our elders are Keiran's and Calvin's parents and grandparents. Keiran has to seek permission from them when making important decisions like choosing the next Luna, adding a new member, and attacks." Amelia explained as Evelyn listened to her attentively. "If he wants you to meet the elders, it must be to discuss you becoming the next Luna." The doctor smiled. The new information only helped to make Evelyn even more nervous. Her mate said she can't be the Luna. That must be what he's going to suggest to the elders. And if they agree...... then Evelyn would have no choice other than to watch her mate be with someone else. "What are you thinking?" Amelia questioned making Evelyn look up at her. "Nothing.... " The omega smiled and waved it off, not wanting to continue the discussion about her being the next Luna. Evelyn turned around to look at Rain who was a blushing mess as he talked to the curly-haired guy. "That's Josh, my cousin." Amelia introduced the guy, making him look at them. "Hello Luna, I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself to you the day we met," Josh said smiling at her. Evelyn didn't try to correct the guy about him calling her Luna. She knew it will be of no use as everyone continued to call her that even after she said not to. "That's okay, I'm Evelyn." The girl said remembering that she never introduced herself too. "Why is Rain so red? " Amelia suddenly said, drawing everyone's attention towards the omega who flushed even more. "Because he's a living tomato," Josh said and ruffled the omega's hair, making him pout. "I'm not a tomato!" He huffed as he covered his red cheeks. "It's because he was making fun of me!" He pointed to Josh who laughed causing Rain to pout even more. Amelia shook her head with a small smile playing on her lips. " Boys, you can bicker later. Now, let's go inside and eat something, I'm starving." She said as she walked towards the Packhouse. Evelyn followed Amelia with two bickering boys trailing behind her. * Evelyn sat on her bed, dreading the moment her mate is going to reject her. She was neatly dressed, waiting to meet the elders. It was evening—3: 43 to be exact. Evelyn sat there and thought about everything that could happen in a few hours. She knew the Alpha can't reject her as his mate but he can he reject her from being the Luna. A knock on the door made Evelyn jump in surprise. She hurriedly went and opened it to see a smiling omega. "Good evening, Luna. Alpha wants to see you." The omega said. Evelyn greeted her back and tried to muster up a small smile but failed miserably. She took a deep breath and tried to push down all the bad thoughts running through her mind before following the omega upstairs. 'Please give me the strength to endure whatever that's going to happen today.' The girl silently prayed to the Goddess as she walked to her mate.
Chapter 8 Chapter 8
Evelyn heard the faint murmur of people talking inside as she walked towards the room. To say she was nervous would be an understatement. Evelyn was shaking as she took each step. The people inside that room are the ones who are going to decide her destiny. "You can go in, Luna." The omega maid said as she opened the huge wooden door. Evelyn gulped as the voices were now clear and understandable but they seem to be talking about something that Evelyn couldn't quite understand. She thanked the maid before taking a deep breath and stepping into the room. The voices died down as soon as she entered the room. Evelyn looked to her left to see that everyone in the room was staring at her. The omega held her breath not knowing what to do as there was an awkward silence in the room. There were nine people in the room including her mate. They all sat on a big leather couch that was arranged in a rectangular shape. Evelyn looked at her mate who was sitting in a separate chair. He looked ethereal as usual, wearing black jeans and a white shirt with a few buttons undone as he sat there and stared at the omega uninterested. Evelyn didn't know what to do. Her mate looked like he's not going to introduce her so the omega mustered up her courage to speak up. "H-Hello," Evelyn stuttered out and delivered a small wave to the people watching. "Oh my god, Keiran! Is she your mate? She's so beautiful!" A lady squealed in excitement. Evelyn was taken aback by the reaction so she instinctively took a step back as the lady walked towards her. She looked at her mate who was rubbing his forehead in annoyance. "What's your name, dear? Keiran didn't tell us anything about you. I'm sorry we couldn't meet you when you came here. We were away for some business purposes." The woman kept talking as she came and pulled Evelyn into a tight hug. Evelyn just stood there like a statue. Everything felt so overwhelming to her. The woman had a comforting smell of sandal and it calmed Evelyn's nervous mind. She looked up at the smiling lady and realized that she still hasn't answered her question. "I'm E-Evelyn," She said making the woman smile wider. "That's a nice name. I'm Scarlett, Keiran's mother." She said, side hugging the omega as she talked. Evelyn was surprised. Scarlett looked very young and beautiful. No one could tell that she had a son. Scarlett took Evelyn towards the others. "This is William, Keiran's father, and the former Alpha." She introduced the alpha sitting on the couch. He stood up and smiled at the Omega. "Nice to meet you, Evelyn. I still can't believe how my hot-headed son got paired with a delicate girl like you. The moon goddess must be really enjoying this." He joked to which Keiran rolled his eyes. Scarlett kissed her mate's cheek before moving on to introduce others. "Come here, honey." A woman with grey hair called Evelyn to sit with them. "Sit with us and tell us about you," She said as she signaled her to come closer. Evelyn blushed from all the attention she's getting. She felt overwhelmed. Scarlett made her sit in the middle of everyone as they asked a train of questions about her and her family. Evelyn shyly replied to Everything. She told them about her father and tried not to cry this time but her watery eyes were enough for everyone to know that it was a touchy topic. Keiran's granddad was quiet but occasionally smiled at the jokes said by his mate and son. The Beta family was the most talkative among the group. They were talking about how they all met their mates. Evelyn felt a warm feeling in her heart. It was the first time she felt at home. Keiran gritted his teeth watching everyone interact with the omega. This wasn't the reaction he expected. It irked him knowing that none of them were worried about an omega being the next Luna. "You guys need to stop pampering her and talk about the important matter at hand," He said, irritated that no one was talking about it. "What?" Scarlett quirked an eyebrow at her son. Keiran sighed rubbing his face. "I'm talking about—" He couldn't finish his words because someone suddenly burst in through the door. Everyone turned to the door alarmed to see a panting girl. The girl was beautiful and tall. She had glowing chocolate skin and wore a pair of jeans and a turtle neck sweater which complimented her curves. Her long raven hair reached up to her hips as she adjusted it. The girl was an alpha, her elegance and physique were enough to prove that. "Oh sorry, am I late?" She asked, her voice sounding breathy as she spoke. No one spoke but just stared at her in surprise and confusion. Keiran broke the awkwardness by walking towards the girl and hugging her. Evelyn watched the interaction with a heavy heart. Her mate was smiling and hugging someone else right in front of her. Scarlett cleared her throat. "Naomi dear, don't take it wrong but why are you here?" She asked the girl who was still clinging to Keiran's hand. The girl, Naomi, looked at her like a deer caught in headlights. She opened her mouth to say something but Keiran cut her off. "I invited her," He said hugging the girl closer. Scarlett frowned. "Didn't you break up with her? ""No," Keiran said, his voice not even wavering a little bit. "—and I'm not going to," Evelyn looked down, her chest burning as her mate admitted that the girl is still his girlfriend. "What are you saying Keiran?" William—Keiran's father—stood up, his voice deep and serious as he questioned his son. "I'm saying that I want Naomi to be my Luna," Keiran replied firmly. Evelyn shut her eyes tight and hugged herself. She knew this would happen, she was prepared but it still hurts. Scarlett's jaw dropped hearing her son's words. "Keiran, what nonsense are you saying?" She looked like she was angry and confused at the same time. "Son, you shouldn't do or say these kinds of things in front of your mate. You have to respect her." Keiran's grandfather said calmly but his words were stern. The former Beta's mate, who Evelyn knew as Rose, hugged the omega to comfort her. "Keiran, your mate is chosen by the moon goddess to be the Luna of this Pack. You can't just select someone else for that." Richard, the former Beta, scolded the young alpha. "You all don't understand! She's an omega, she's weak! I can't risk the safety of my Pack just because of her!" Keiran spat out angrily. "Are you kidding?! Do you know what rejecting your mate can do to you both?" Scarlett shouted, losing her calm. "I know, mom. I'm not rejecting her as a mate but my Luna." Keiran explained. "She can stay here as my mate but not my Luna. I just don't want any other Pack to know that she's my mate.""Keiran, this is not a joke. Did you think about what your mate is feeling right now? You're acting selfish, this is not how we raised you." William stepped forward. "I'm not acting selfish, dad. I'm doing this for the Pack. Our Pack never had an omega as Luna before, we always had powerful leaders—""And?" William interrupted his son. "We also never had an Alpha who made another person his Luna when his mate was right beside him," Evelyn silently listened to everyone arguing around her. She felt tired and heartbroken. The smell of anger in the room was making her dizzy. "Dad, this is the only—""Enough is enough. None of us agree with Naomi being the Luna. Instead, Evelyn will become the Luna in the next full moon!" William said in his Alpha voice making Keiran grit his teeth. Evelyn's legs trembled because of the Alpha pheromones in the room. Her nails dug into her palm as she repeatedly blinked away the tears to clear her vision. "We are on William's side, Keiran. What you're doing is wrong. You're not only hurting your mate but also defying the wish of the moon goddess." The older beta spoke up. Keiran closed his eyes and took a deep breath. His fist clenched as the anger and frustration were still visible on his face. "OK fine! You all care about this weak omega than the safety of this Pack." He scoffed. "But the next full moon is unacceptable. It's only three days away! Why so early? ""It's not good to keep you both away for a long time. It will cause many mental and physical problems. So it's best if it's done the next full moon." Scarlett said to her son who was annoyed because things weren't going as he planned. Keiran looked like he would explode the next minute. He took a deep breath, "You're all going to regret this," He spat out before storming out of the room. His girlfriend, Naomi, awkwardly looked at everyone before following him out. Evelyn felt her knees go weak but luckily Scarlett caught her and made her sit on the couch. "I'm so sorry, you had to go through all this dear. I don't know what happened to Keiran but I have faith that he'll change once you are together." Scarlett told the trembling omega who was on the verge of breaking down. Evelyn didn't dare to hope anymore. — — — [A/N] Hey guys! Thank you for reading. I really appreciate all the support you give this story. Have a nice day!
Chapter 9 Chapter 9
"You'll be the Luna today, yay!" Rain shouted bouncing around. "Stop bouncing on the bed, Rain. You'll feel dizzy." Evelyn sighed as she warned the hyper boy. He ate too much sugar today. Rain stopped and took out his fifth lollipop. He carefully unwrapped it and put it in his mouth before continuing to bounce on the bed. Evelyn shook her head as she folded all the new clothes Amelia bought her. It wasn't much, just a few more pairs of jeans and sweatshirts for her to wear."Who gave you all these lollipops?" Evelyn questioned the boy who kept jumping on the bed. He stopped and took the candy stick out of his mouth. "Amelia bought this for me! They're all mango flavored! Do you want one? I also got cupcakes and chocolate bars but they're in my room." Evelyn figured that the omega was sugar high from how excited he was talking. "No, I don't want one and this is the last candy you're eating today. No more sugary things for you." Evelyn scolded the boy, whose smile instantly flattered. "But why? " Rain whined, his full pink lips jutted out in disappointment. "You already ate so much sugar, it'll make you sick. You're sugar high and that's why you're feeling so hyped now but it won't last for long. You're going to feel drained soon." Evelyn flicked the boy's forehead. "But I'm always like this... Even though I'm not that strong, I have a lot of energy. It's not because of I'm sugar high—""No, you're still not getting any more candy," Evelyn said to the boy who huffed in reply. "You're being mean..." Rain pouted. Evelyn rolled her eyes, "It's for your own good, idiot." She ruffled the omega's soft hair. 'Knock' 'Knock' "Coming," Evelyn said as she walked to the door. She opened it to see a smiling Amelia. She had two paper bags in her hand that she held up for the omega to see. "Tadaaa!" The doctor shouted as she strode past Evelyn to her room followed by a tired Josh who was carrying a handful of bigger bags. Evelyn stared at them both wide-eyed. "I went shopping today!" Amelia announced making Evelyn gasp. Rain just watched the girls with his head tilted in confusion while Josh sat on a chair and heaved a sigh of relief. "Again?! But you just went shopping yesterday!""That was for you and this is for me......., and also you. Well, this is for both of us. Umm don't judge me, okay? I really love shopping." The doctor said as she took three paper bags and gave them to Evelyn. "I bought a dress, shoes, and some jewelry for the ceremony today!" Amelia squealed as Evelyn frowned. "You shouldn't have.... There won't be a lot of people anyway." Evelyn muttered quietly. "I know Keiran should have invited the whole Pack, that's how the ritual is supposed to happen." Amelia sighed, "But this is your special day, you deserve to look beautiful so stop sulking and try on the dress I bought you." Evelyn looked at the paper bags in her hand. She sighed and opened one to see a white dress. She took it out and stared at it awestruck. Evelyn never wore anything fancy so the simple dress was enough to make her fascinated. The dress wasn't too fancy. It was made of lightweight flowy material and it looked comfortable to wear. The doctor opted for a simple dress because Evelyn wasn't familiar with all the fancy things. "It's beautiful... " The omega whispered. "You're going to look so beautiful today! Alpha will be blown away!" Rain chirped as he saw the dress. Evelyn flushed red and looked away in an attempt to hide her red cheeks. She searched the next bag and pulled out a pair of shoes. It was flat shoes with white transparent lace that had flower embroidery and beadworks on them. It looked sparkly yet simple. "Woah... " Evelyn smiled. Excitement filling up her face as she put the shoes on the floor. She quickly removed her slippers and slid the shoes on her feet. "It fits perfectly!" Evelyn smiled and walked a few steps to test if it's comfortable. "Oh thank goodness," Amelia sighed in relief. "I was so scared it wouldn't suit you because I didn't know your size and I picked everything purely based on my intuition." Amelia sat on the bed. "Now go try on that dress, I wanna see if it fits too." She pushed the omega towards the bathroom. Evelyn smiled and took the dress before she walked off to change in the bathroom. She began to strip as soon as she got in and quickly shuffled out of her clothes. Putting on the dress wasn't too hard because it was a simple lightweight one. The omega zipped up the dress and looked at herself in the small bathroom mirror. The dress fits her perfectly and she looked beautiful in it. Evelyn wouldn't call herself gorgeous but she knew she wasn't ugly too. She had to admit that the dress made her blonde hair and bright green eyes stand out. It helped to highlight all her features, making her feel a little more confident in herself. She took a deep breath before adjusting her hair and stepping out of the bathroom. "Oh, my goddess! Evelyn, you look gorgeous! I bet my son would lose his mind when he sees you." Scarlett's squealing voice surprised Evelyn as she flinched back on instinct. Evelyn sighed in relief as she saw Scarlett. "M-Mrs. Winter? You surprised me," Evelyn said making Scarlett laugh. "I'm sorry, dear. I should have come here earlier but I went shopping with Amelia to buy you a dress and then I had to meet my mate to tell him something important." Scarlett apologized. "Also, I told you not to call me 'Mrs. Winter', call me Scarlett or mom. " She scolded the omega who blushed. "M-Mom? I can call you mom? " Scarlett smiled at the omega's question. "Yes, you can dear. I would love to hear you call me that. " The former Luna said with a smile on her face. "Mom... " Evelyn said with a smile, her eyes watering as she felt so emotional calling someone the word she never really used. Scarlett smiled and walked over to the omega to pull her into a tight hug. And for the first time in her life, Evelyn felt the motherly warmth that she never knew she was craving. Scarlett softly rubbed the omega's back as she cried onto her shoulder. Everyone in the room watched the scene with a small smile on their face. They all knew that Evelyn grew up without a mother. The girl didn't even know who her mother was so this is like a blessing happening to her. 'Click' "I captured the moment." Rain said, smiling as he showed his phone to everyone. Scarlett and Evelyn smiled at the boy as they separated. "You look amazing," Amelia said, adjusting Evelyn's hair. "I bet Keiran's jaw is gonna be on the floor." She joked. "Hey guys, look at Josh." Rain whisper shouted making everyone look at the guy snuggled up on a chair in the corner. "He's sleeping like a kid," Rain giggled as he took pictures of the beta. "What happened to him? " Evelyn asked confused as to why the boy was sleeping in such an uncomfortable position. "He didn't sleep yesterday because he was training and that idiot didn't tell me about it when I asked him to help us with shopping. He thought it would end in an hour or two but oh well... " Amelia had a sheepish expression on her face. "Achoo!!" The three women turned to the sound to see Rain holding a daisy from the flower vase as Josh rubbed his nose repeatedly. He squinted his eyes looking around the room. "Where am I? " He asked confused. "You're in my room. You fell asleep on the chair." Evelyn said to the confused beta. "Well, who woke me up? " He cocked an eyebrow, rubbing his nose again. Rain smiled innocently and acted like nothing was wrong while the beta looked at him skeptically. Josh stood up and leaned to see that Rain was holding a daisy in his hand. The omega's eyes widened as he leaped from the seat to runaway but the beta was faster. Josh caught rain who squealed and thrashed around in his arms. Scarlett, Evelyn, and Amelia watched the whole thing amused. "Let go of me, idiot! What are you doing? " Rain squealed as Josh put the omega on his shoulder. "Why did you put the flower on my face? Now my nose is irritated because of you. I'm gonna get my revenge.""What? What revenge?!""I'm gonna make you smell that weird plant in Amelia's garden," Josh said making Amelia gasp offended. "That's a datura! " The doctor shouts but got ignored by the two bickering boys. "Oh no, I hate it! Let me go! Ughh! " Rain hit the beta's back as he walked to the door. "Luna save me! This giant is kidnapping me!" Rain shouted to which Evelyn giggled. "Noone's going to save you, idiot. Just stop shouting and prepare your nose for the treat." Josh laughed an evil laugh as he walked out of the room with a screaming omega on his shoulder. "These two... " Scarlett shook her head smiling. "I hope they become mates," Evelyn smiled. "Oh no, one of them will lose their mind if that happens." Amelia chuckled.
Chapter 10 Chapter 10
Amelia and Scarlet helped Evelyn to get ready as the omega didn't seem to know anything about makeup. Evelyn was beautiful even without makeup but a light touch of some blush, lip gloss, and eyeliner did magic to her face. She let her long hair down free as it was more beautiful that way. Evelyn's long golden hair is something that makes people stop and stare at her for a minute. It came down to her hips in shiny wavy curls. "Here, wear these earrings," Amelia said as she gave the omega the jewelry. The earrings were beautiful with a long chain and with a simple stone hanging at the end of it. "It looks like raindrops," Evelyn smiled as she looked at the jewelry amused. " They're sapphire," Amelia said making Evelyn look at her. "Huh? " The omega asked, her head tilted in confusion. The doctor almost face palmed herself for forgetting that Evelyn probably wouldn't know anything about ornaments. "Sapphire is one of the precious stones in the world," Amelia said making Evelyn gasp. "It must be expensive then...Oh no, I can't wear that. What if I lose it? " The omega quickly gave the earings back to the doctor. Scarlett sighed, taking the earnings from Amelia. "Evelyn, this is your special day. You deserve all the precious things in the world today. And you're not some ordinary girl anymore, you're going to be the Luna of this Pack in about an hour." Scarlett smiled. Evelyn felt extremely nervous hearing the words. She was going to be the Luna of one of the powerful Packs in the world. It was a responsibility that she wasn't ready for yet. She didn't even know what a Luna should do. "Don't worry, dear. Everything's going to be alright, we're all here for you." Scarlett assured the omega with a small smile. Amelia gave the omega a small necklace with a sapphire locket to wear. "We would have bought you more jewelry but we didn't have the time since everything happened in a rush." Amelia wasn't so glad that everything Evelyn wore was very simple. The doctor thought that the omega deserved more since it is her wedding day. Yes, the wedding day. When the Alpha of a Pack accepts his mate as his Luna then they are officially married. But the mating ritual will be completed only when they accept each other mentally and physically and mark their partners. "Hey, I want makeup too! " Rain shouted as he burst into the room. Everybody looked at the omega who strode towards them dressed in a fuzzy white sweater that was too big for him. "Why do you need makeup? " Amelia ignored the omega and continued to brush Evelyn's hair as a final touch. "Because I looove makeup!" Rain said as he tugged on the doctor's sleeve who rolled her eyes at him. Scarlett chuckled, "Come here, I'll do your make up." She said making the boy smile wide. Evelyn giggled looking at the excited omega. Scarlett took a flower crown and put it on the boy's head who gasped. "I love flower crown!" He shouted happily. Scarlett smiled and took a lip gloss and applied it on Rain's lips who licked it immediately. "Hey, don't lick it, dumbo! " Scarlett scolded the omega as Rain smiled sheepishly. "It smelled like strawberries, I wanted to know how it tastes." He said making everyone laugh. "Done, " Scarlett said as she put the lip gloss away. "Do I look cute?" The boy asked to which Scarlett couldn't help but chuckle. "You look cuter than cute!" Scarlett pinched the omega's cheeks making him blush. "Rain, why do you have a lemon in your hand?" Evelyn asked as she noticed the omega playing with it. "It's because that idiot beta made me smell that weird plant Amelia grows. I wanted to puke ever since I smelled it and lemon helps to make it go away." Rain pouts after muttering. "The weird plant is called datura and it's poisonous," Amelia said making the boy's eyes widen in fear. "What?! I smelled it! Am I going to die? Why do you have a poisonous plant in your garden anyway?" Amelia rolled her eyes, "Chill, only its seeds and flowers are poisonous and it's going to okay because you're a freaking werewolf, you idiot!" She said making Rain's mouth form an 'O' shape. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Scarlett went and opened it to see Keiran's grandfather—Alexander—standing there. "It's time," He said to Scarlett. "I'll walk her to the aisle." Scarlett smiled and called Evelyn over. "He wants to walk you to the aisle," She said to the omega who smiled as her eyes turned glossy. "No... no more crying today." Scarlett said to the omega making her smile in return. "Come on, " Keiran's grandfather said as he extended his hand. Evelyn hooked her right hand in his as they walked outside where the ceremony will take place. Scarlett, Amelia, and Rain followed them there. Evelyn felt her knees shake as her hands turned cold. She nervously gripped the old man's hand making him look at her. "Relax, dear." He tried to calm the omega. "Everything will be alright. Keiran won't be cold to you all the time, you're his mate. He loves you in his heart no matter how much he tries to deny it." Evelyn looked up at Alexander. "Ever since Keiran was a kid, he wanted to make his father proud. He loves his father dearly and somehow my son made this impression in his mind that made Keiran hate the omegas." He sighed. "We don't know why he thinks like that because William respects every omega. But I know you can make Keiran change... He will change. I have faith in it." Evelyn didn't know what to say to the older alpha so she just nervously smiled at him. Evelyn couldn't even stand the pheromones of her mate, so she didn't know how she's going to change him. Evelyn gasped as they reached where the ceremony will take place. It was in an open place. There was a small stage which was decorated with white curtains and flowers. White and yellow dim lights beside the aisle made Evelyn's face glow a golden shade. There wasn't a lot of people in there. Just the Alpha and Beta family, and some other people Evelyn has seen but doesn't know the name of. Evelyn felt extremely shy as everyone's attention was on her now. Evelyn looked at her mate standing at the end of the aisle. He looked really handsome in his suit. He stood there tall and powerful as the moonlight hit his face, giving his ocean eyes a little more sparkle. Keiran raked his eyes over his mate. He couldn't take his eyes off of her. The omega looked extremely beautiful in the white dress. She was nervously abusing her glossy lips as she looked at everyone around her. Keiran gulped as he stared at his mate. Evelyn looked at the Alpha's eyes as she walked closer to him and she swears she saw his eyes flash red for a second.
Chapter 11 Chapter 11
Keiran extended his hand for Evelyn to take as she reached the stage. The omega was surprised but didn't make it obvious. Sparks shot through Evelyn's body as soon she touched her mate. His hand was warm and Evelyn never wanted to let go of that warmth. The Alpha retreated his hand as soon as Evelyn got on the stage, leaving the omega disappointed. Evelyn stared at her mate who had an uninterested expression on his face. He looked exceptionally handsome and had a built body that makes women drool over him. The omega wondered why the moon goddess paired her with such a powerful man. "Cutt off all the unnecessary bullsh*t and jump straight to the ritual," Keiran muttered to the priest who gulped at his threatening voice. Evelyn looked down. It hurts her to think that her mate really wasn't interested in such an important moment in their life. The priest read some prayers for a few minutes before he told the pair to say their vows. Evelyn didn't know anything about wedding vows so she memorized what Amelia told her. Keiran started, "I, Keiran Winter, Alpha of the Shadow Pack, take Evelyn Gray as my mate and Luna." The priest stared at Keiran, waiting for him to say the next vow in which he swears to love and protect his mate but Keiran just stared back at the priest with a burning look. Evelyn was clueless as to why the priest had a distasteful look on his face. The omega took a deep breath, " I, Evelyn Gray, accept Keiran Winter as my mate and Alpha." She finished as her heartbeat sped up erratically. The omega knew there was another vow that she had to say but she stayed silent because her mate didn't say them. The priest sighed and took out a tiny dagger from his book. He put the dagger close to his heart and uttered some prayers before giving it to Keiran. The Alpha took the dagger and pierced his right thumb before giving it to Evelyn who stared at him confused. "Do what I did," He said to the omega. Evelyn mimicked the Alpha and pierced her thumb making blood pour out of it. She frowned at the stinging sensation in her finger as she gave the dagger back to the priest. The omega felt her heartbeat speed up as time passed. She looked around at everyone who was staring at them. Scarlett was smiling as she hugged her mate. Amelia gave a thumbs up while her mate was standing there with his arms around her waist. Rain was busy taking pictures of the wedding. The priest took her and Keiran's hand and made them hold each other. Keiran pressed his pierced finger on Evelyn's as he brought the omega closer to him. Evelyn gasped as a shiver ran through her body. Something strange was happening to her. She felt a tugging feeling on her right thumb before it spread to her heart. Her whole body was tingling and it made her feel slightly dizzy. Keiran gripped the omega's waist and brought her close to him when he saw Evelyn's legs being shaky. The girl looked at his icy blue eyes as she panted heavily. He felt the connection as she did. They were bonded together for life. It felt like a red string was connecting them both. They both stared at each other's eyes for a minute longer before the omega stepped back. The priest took two rings and extended them to the pair to take. Keiran took the small ring with sapphire stone while Evelyn took the one which was bigger and had an emerald stone on it. Keiran took the omega's and slipped the ring on her finger. He looked uninterested in the whole process. Evelyn sighed and gently gripped her mate's hand as she slipped the emerald ring on him. The priest said some more prayers before he took both of their hands in his. "In this night of the full moon, the moon goddess being the witness, I now pronounce you Keiran Winter and Evelyn Gray Winter as the Alpha and Luna of the Shadow Pack." He said making everyone around them cheer. "You may kiss your Luna." The crowd went wild as they heard the words. "Kiss! ""Kiss! " They chanted over and over again making Keiran grit his teeth. His eyes turned cold as he eyed the omega who nervously chewed on her lips. "Don't think too much of it," The Alpha said as he brought Evelyn close to him. The omega's whole body trembled being so close to her mate. She was startled when the Alpha pressed his lips against her roughly. Tingles shot through her body making her head spin. Evelyn couldn't comprehend anything. She felt like the time froze as her mate's lips touched her. But the feeling was gone as it came. Keiran stepped back in a split second and acted like nothing happened while the omega stared at him like a statue. Evelyn unconsciously touched her lips. The tingling feeling was still there. She covered her cheeks to hide the redness of it as everyone flocked to them to congratulate the pair. Evelyn sighed as the party was finally over. She leaned back on the couch in the living room. Keiran entered the house and threw his jacket on a chair, he loosened up his tie and unbuttoned a few buttons on his shirt before taking a bottle of water and dowing it in one go. The omega blushed looking at her mate. Even though Evelyn would have loved to stare at him for a little more, she didn't want to risk it and get yelled at. The alpha had a hothead, he could explode any minute. And by looking at him, Evelyn knew he wasn't in a good mood. She slowly stood up from the couch making less sound as much as possible. She quietly walked to the stairs to go to her room when William and Scarlett suddenly entered the house. "Evelyn wait! " Scarlett shouted as soon as she saw the omega walking upstairs. Evelyn stopped to look back at her mother in law. "You should go to Keiran's room, you're staying there from now on." She said, making the omega stare at her in disbelief. "What?!" Keiran shouted when he heard his mother. "Why the hell is she staying in my room?! She has her own room, let her stay in there!" He spat out frustrated. "Because you're mates? " Scarlett threw an unimpressed look at her son. "And you both have to stay together. That was the whole point of planning the ceremony in a rush. " She stated as she rolled her eyes. "You have to keep your Luna by your side, son. Otherwise, it will make your wolf restless." William said to his son while he side hugged his mate. Keiran angrily slammed his hand on the table. The sound made Evelyn flinch back a little. He unbuttoned his shirt as he walked to the entrance in a rush. "Where are you going?!" Scarlett asked as she chased her son. "Stop following me! I'll come back, I'm going for a run." He said as he ran outside. Scarlett stopped and sighed looking at her son's back. She looked at Evelyn and smiled weakly. "Come on, I'll show you the room." Evelyn was shaking as she walked to the room. She doesn't know how she would survive sharing the same room with her mate. "Your things are already in here, " Scarlett said as she opened the door. The strong scent of cinnamon and honey drowned the omega as soon as she entered the room. The room was big, three times bigger than the one she stayed in before. It was nicely decorated and organized. There was a king-size bed and beside it was a bedside table and a small bookshelf. On the left side of the room, there was a big couch and chairs with a small glass table in the middle of it. Scarlett showed the omega a bag with all her things. "This is Keiran's closet. He doesn't like anyone touching his stuff that's why I didn't put it in there," She said showing a wooden door behind the bag. "That's the bathroom," She pointed to another door. "And that table is all his office stuff, don't touch them." Scarlett showed her a table at the corner of the room with a window beside it. "Can I go on the balcony?" Evelyn asked pointing to the balcony. Scarlett smiled, "Yes, you can. I'm not saying you can't touch any of these things but just wait for him to warm up to you." Scarlett ruffled her hair. "I'll be going then. You should take some rest, he will come back soon." Scarlett said before going out. Evelyn sighed as she opened the balcony window. The full moon made her heart calm a little. The omega stared at the moon as she thought about what would happen when her mate comes back.
