Chapter 1 Chapter 1

After Torma died, my mother-in-law, Neradia, feared losing influence in the pack. She forced my husband, Jaroch, to take Torma's place as the Gamma. To stop Lezah, Torma's wife, from remarrying, so no one would suspect the truth, she even suggested Jaroch sleep with her. I was furious and protested against it. Neradia slapped me hard across the face. "You fool! As long as Lezah doesn't remarry, your husband will continue to be the Gamma. You'll enjoy endless wealth and glory too," she said. I wouldn't listen and kept arguing. She beat me badly and even threatened me with Sylvia's safety to make me keep it a secret. I thought Jaroch would at least refuse. Not only did he go along with it, but he even drank a witch's potion to block our mate bond. Then, without any shame, he began sleeping with Lezah. The worst part was that they didn't even try to hide it. They held hands, hugged, and kissed in front of me like I was invisible. Heartbroken, I chose to look away. After all, out of sight meant out of mind. One month later, Lezah was with pup. I couldn't bear my mate's betrayal any longer. I couldn't accept sharing a husband with another woman. I decided to leave with my daughter. But Jaroch wouldn't allow it. He held me and whispered sweetly, "Bityah, don't go. I love you. "Taking over as Gamma wasn't my choice. Getting Lezah with pup was an accident. "Give me some time. After the pup comes, I'll step down and let her go." I was thoroughly disappointed. I told him firmly that I was leaving. He refused. Afraid I'd run, he locked me in a room and said I needed time to calm down. He then went on a vacation with everyone in the family except for me. No one expected a pack of rogues to break into our home while they were away. They robbed, set the villa on fire, and killed everyone. I was trapped in that room and surrounded by flames. I called Jaroch in a panic and tried to get help, but before I even spoke, he snapped at me. "Bityah, stop making a scene. Just behave! "Lezah agreed to get along with you. You should learn from her and be more considerate. "From now on, I'll spend Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with you. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays are hers." I heard Lezah's voice over the phone. "Jaroch, my feet are sore. Rub them for me.""Of course. Let's take care of that," he replied gently. Then came the sounds of them getting intimate. I swallowed the pain and shouted, "Jaroch, help me!" To my surprise, he hung up. My desperate cries for help went unheard, and I stopped. I stared at my phone, laughing and crying at the same time. I then slowly collapsed to the floor. I'd been foolish to think that even if he slept with Lezah, he still loved me. I thought I still mattered more to him than she did. But that call changed everything. He didn't love me anymore. All he cared about now was Lezah. The moment she spoke, he dropped everything for her. He'd rush to comfort her and spoil her. All the sweet things he'd said to me were just lies. He only wanted to enjoy having both women. Maybe he never loved me to begin with. As the fire devoured my body, I sent him one last message. [My biggest regret was meeting you. In the next life, I pray we never meet.]

Chapter 2 Chapter 2

My soul drifted in the air, watching as the flames scorched my body beyond recognition. I couldn't even tell what I used to look like anymore. Some werewolves from the pack came and carried my charred body out of the room. I stayed by my own corpse. There was no sorrow, only a deep sense of relief. I didn't know how much time had passed before Jaroch arrived after hearing the news. When he saw his villa burned to the ground, and the brutally murdered servants, he staggered in shock. "What happened here?" He roared in disbelief. "Rogues broke in, looted the place, and killed everyone. We're tracking them down," one of the werewolves reported. Jaroch's expression turned gloomy. His gaze suddenly landed on my body. His brows furrowed as he examined me. My heart pounded a little. Could he recognize me? Would he feel remorseful after seeing my dead body? I kept my gaze locked on him, afraid to miss even the slightest flicker of emotion. However, he quickly looked away in a panic and rushed toward the half-burned room. I frowned in disappointment. He didn't recognize me at all. He never truly cared for me. So how could he recognize me? "Where's the person who was locked in here?" he asked loudly. "The room was empty. The only body we pulled out was hers," a werewolf replied. His eyes widened in shock. Then he glanced back at my corpse and scoffed, shaking his head in disbelief. "That can't be her. She wouldn't die!" Then, as if something clicked, he retrieved his phone. I hovered beside him, watching as he opened my last text message. "She even texted me. She's fine! 'In the next life, I pray we never meet.' That's a lie! She's just trying to stir up trouble again!" He grumbled with clear annoyance and even seemed a little disgusted. I knew he didn't love me anymore, but hearing that still hurt. My heart clenched. "Gamma, we confirmed it. The person locked in the room was Jaroch's wife, Bityah. She died in the fire." One of the werewolves reported my identity. Jaroch glared at the werewolf furiously. "That's nonsense!" He realized he had overreacted. Needing to maintain his façade as Gamma, not Jaroch, he took a deep breath to suppress his emotions. "That's not Bityah. Look into it. She's not dead." He refused to acknowledge my death. He wouldn't even glance at my body again. It was as if I was something filthy he couldn't bear to look at. The ache in my heart gradually dulled until I couldn't feel anything at all. I watched as Jaroch paced into the ruins of the room while ordering the others to keep searching for me, but they found nothing. The werewolves told him again and again that I had died. "That's impossible. I didn't feel anything–" He cut himself off mid-sentence. Deep down, he believed that if I had really died, he would've felt something break inside him. He had forgotten one thing. He drank the witch's potion that blocked our mate bond. "I don't care what it takes. Find Bityah. I need to give my dead brother some closure!" Watching him put on that fake, concerned act made me want to laugh. Men lied so easily. It was like breathing to them.

Chapter 3 Chapter 3

After they cleared the remains of the fire, they still hadn't found any trace of me. I hadn't intended to stay near Jaroch, but I quickly realized that no matter where he went, my soul would involuntarily follow him. Jaroch sat on the stone steps of the charred ruins, his expression unreadable as he ran a hand through his hair in frustration. Lezah walked up, took his hand, and gently leaned her head on his shoulder. "Don't worry, Bityah has always been lucky. She won't die so easily," she said softly. Jaroch looked down. Feeling unconvinced, he asked in an unusually dull tone, "That room can only be accessed with my biometrics. What if that body really is her?" Lezah comforted him, "It's not. Bityah is clever. She must've found a way out. She's going to be fine." Jaroch's expression remained gloomy. He stood up and began walking toward the corpse. "Whether it is or isn't, I'll know once I check." Lezah tugged his arm, her voice rising a little. "It's not her! Don't look. It's been burned to ashes. It's disgusting." Jaroch didn't stop. But suddenly, Lezah bent over, clutched her stomach, and pretended to retch. She looked extremely uncomfortable. "My stomach hurts. The smell here is awful, and it's making the baby feel sick too." Jaroch paused and turned to her. He looked visibly worried. "Are you okay?""Take me to the hospital, now," she pleaded while clutching his arm tightly. Jaroch nodded and supported her as they walked off together, completely forgetting about verifying the corpse's identity. The image of them walking away looked perfectly harmonious. To outsiders, they were a couple now. No one knew that Jaroch was impersonating his dead twin brother. I stared at the scene coldly. It felt ironic. Lezah had stopped him from confirming the body. Clearly, she didn't want Jaroch to know I was dead, or to waste any time on me. Once, after her husband died, Lezah was devastated. She tried to take her own life multiple times, and Jaroch was the one who kept pulling her back from the edge. Then she'd cling to him, sobbing in his arms, refusing to let him leave for days and nights on end. After they slept together, their relationship evolved quickly. They became deeply affectionate with each other, almost as if they were a couple, and I was the outsider. My wolf had been heartbroken ever since. Worn down by grief, she grew weaker every day. Lezah had long since directed her love to Jaroch. After all, he and her husband were identical twins. It was easy to blur the lines. Now that I was gone, Lezah could finally claim Jaroch openly and proudly. As a woman, she didn't want the man she loved mourning another woman. Three days passed. My soul continued to follow them, helplessly tethered to their every move. Whatever they did, I was forced to watch. The more I saw, the more disgusted I felt. My soul was drifting in a haze. Soon, my autopsy report came out. One of the wolves brought the report to Jaroch, who took it and clutched it tightly. He couldn't bring himself to open it. I stared at him, strangely eager to see his reaction once he realized the body was mine. But he just sat there, unmoving, and I grew anxious. Lezah, noticing his hesitation, snatched the report from his hands and tore it to pieces right in front of him. "What are you doing?" Jaroch asked in a startled tone.

Chapter 4 Chapter 4

Lezah smiled. As if afraid Jaroch might get angry, she kissed his cheek and said gently, "You still have me. I'll always be by your side. Besides, Bityah is probably just doing this to mess with you. "And if she really is gone, that's a good thing. "No one will ever know your true identity. You can remain Gamma forever, and we can be together forever." She wrapped her arms around Jaroch. Her hands gently roamed his body. Her lips brushed softly against his face. His gaze softened, and he let out a deep breath. Her hand moved downward and grabbed something firmly. He instantly tensed, and his breathing grew heavier. As her hand slowly moved, the look in his eyes was quickly overtaken by desire. He pressed her down onto the bed without hesitation. "You naughty girl." He grabbed her by the waist with one hand and squeezed her chest with the other. "I only want to make you feel good," she said with a sweet smile. Her voice was sensual and teasing. It sent chills down his spine. She arched her body to match his movements, then stuck out her tongue to lick his chest. He shuddered slightly. The temptation overwhelmed him. He tore off her clothes and sealed her cherry lips with a deep kiss. Their kiss turned hot and messy. Entwined together, their bodies rose and fell. They were completely consumed by passion. It was all too much. I turned away, unable to watch any longer, though tears still rolled down uncontrollably. I was furious but helpless. Just a few words from Lezah and a little seduction, and he completely forgot everything else. I saw it clearly now. He was running away. He refused to admit I was dead. He was lying to himself. If he hadn't locked me in that room, I never would've died. Just as things were getting heated between them, a knock came from the door outside. It was followed by Sylvia's anxious voice. "Daddy, open the door!" Upon hearing Sylvia's voice, I felt shaken up. It had been days. I missed her so much, but I couldn't see her. I'd wanted to protect Sylvia from afar, but my soul was trapped. I could only bear the pain of missing her. "I can feel that Mommy's dead.""Waaah! Mommy's dead! I want Mommy to come back!" Sylvia's wails echoed through the house. The pain hit me like a tidal wave. My tears fell uncontrollably. Jaroch quickly pushed Lezah aside, got dressed, and opened the door. "Don't say nonsense, sweetie. You're sensing it wrong. Mommy's not dead." Jaroch placed his hands on Sylvia's shoulders and spoke sternly. "But they said Mommy was burned to death and told me to claim her body for burial. "Is she really dead? "If not, why hasn't she come home? "And I saw the body. She still had the ring I gave her. That was Mommy." Sylvia cried harder and louder. Tears rolled down her flushed cheeks. Seeing her like that tore me apart. I rushed toward her, desperate to hug her and offer comfort, but I passed right through her. I wanted to speak, but no matter how hard I tried, no one could hear me. "They're lying," Jaroch said, hugging Sylvia and gently wiping her tears. For once, he was surprisingly patient. "Don't cry, sweetheart. Mommy's not dead, I promise." At that moment, I wanted to believe it too, just so I could stay by Sylvia's side. That was just wishful thinking. "Then where is she?" Sylvia was still crying. Jaroch was getting visibly impatient now. He didn't know how to answer her. "She's on a trip, Sylvia. I'll get her to video call you soon. "That body belonged to one of the servants' wives. Someone will claim it for burial soon." Lezah jumped in to help Jaroch out of the bind. My eyes widened in disbelief. She hadn't even verified anything and was already making things up? That was absurd. "Really?" Sylvia, being so young, was easy to fool. After hearing I wasn't dead, she stopped crying. "Of course it's true." Lezah knelt down and stroked Sylvia's head to comfort her. Satisfied, Sylvia left with a servant. Jaroch, on the other hand, was clearly irritated. "Was that body really a servant's wife?" Lezah's voice was like a siren's song. "Of course. Bityah isn't dead. She faked it to make you feel guilty and regretful. Don't fall for it. "Tomorrow, that woman's family will come to claim her body for burial."

Chapter 5 Chapter 5

Jaroch didn't seem to fully buy into it. Feeling unsettled, he exhaled deeply before making up his mind. "No. I still need to see the body for myself." Lezah didn't want him to go. She stepped in front of him to block his path. "Jaroch, she told me before that she wanted to leave you. She's always been good at playing games. She's hiding and trying to get you to panic." Jaroch furrowed his brows. He opened his mouth to speak but swallowed the words. "Don't let her shake you," Lezah continued speaking. "Stay calm. Don't let her lead you by the nose." She did everything she could to stop him from going to see my corpse. "Let me take care of this, okay?" She held his hand tightly and leaned against his chest, clearly trying to distract him. "Just the other day, my father told me there's a pack of rogue wolves causing trouble in the southern region. He wants you to bring a team and wipe them out. If you succeed, you might even get promoted." Jaroch's interest was immediately piqued. He leaned in and was eager to hear more. I let out a cold chuckle. In the end, what he cared about the most was his career. He was just an ordinary warrior, sure, but he was capable. Unfortunately, he chose the wrong path, insisting on doing everything under his brother's name. Even if he won that battle, the credit would go to his brother. What was the point? Their entire family was blinded by power. At that moment, I gave up any hope that Jaroch would confirm the body as mine. I was sure Lezah'd arrange for someone to impersonate my family, just to claim the body so he wouldn't have to face the truth. I could only hope that once I was buried, my soul could finally be free of him. I didn't want to see him ever again. That night, Lezah played old video recordings of me for Sylvia, hoping to make her behave. She sat Sylvia in front of the TV, watching my bright, smiling face on repeat. The next day, several people came by the morgue to identify the body, but none claimed it. By nightfall, one of the werewolves brought in a short, scrawny man to claim the body. Sylvia wasn't convinced, so Jaroch brought her along to the morgue to see for herself. The scrawny man lifted the white sheet and looked at the body. Then, he burst into dramatic sobs. "Honey! How could you leave me?" He grabbed my charred hand and pressed it against his cheek. I stood nearby, revolted but powerless to stop him. As he clutched my wrist, the bracelet snapped off with a soft clatter against the floor, drawing everyone's attention. That bracelet had been a token of love from Jaroch. It was made from a special material and hadn't been damaged in the fire. I wondered if he still remembered it. I looked at Jaroch. He frowned slightly, clearly trying to remember. "This bracelet. I've seen it before. I think I bought it and gave it to-" But the memory wouldn't come. He tried harder to recall. "Mommy has one like it," Sylvia suddenly said. "Daddy, Mommy told me this was the bracelet you gave her when you proposed," she added. Jaroch's expression changed instantly. He instinctively took a few steps toward the body. He bent down to pick up the bracelet, but Lezah stepped forward and grabbed his arm. She raised her voice. "That's not Bityah's bracelet. The one you gave her was lost a long time ago. "Oh! And didn't you buy an identical one for me too? "These bracelets are everywhere. There's nothing special about them." Jaroch seemed relieved to hear that. The tension drained from his face, and he stopped thinking about it. "But it looks exactly like Mommy's, and she feels like Mommy. Even her build is the same-" Sylvia frowned. Before she could finish, Lezah quickly covered her mouth. She scooped Sylvia up and gave her a stern look. "Sweetie, you've got it wrong. That's not your mom. "If you mistake someone else for your mom, she'll be heartbroken when she finds out."
