Chapter 1 Chapter 1

Fresh from the hospital, still sore from the treatment, I rushed to the underground club. Rachel, the floor manager, frowned the second she saw me. "Are you trying to get fired? We've got VIPs tonight." She shoved me straight into the private room. I already knew about the guest. That's why I forced myself here, even though my body was still screaming in pain. The pay tonight was significantly higher than usual. Everyone wanted a piece of this chance. Rachel knew I was desperate for treatment money. That's the only reason she gave it to me. I tugged at the neckline of my dress—already cut dangerously low—and forced a smile as I stepped in. "Sorry, I'm late, gentlemen. I'll punish myself with a drink—" I stopped mid-sentence. Across the room, those familiar golden eyes locked with mine. Ethan sat at the center of the crowd, exuding effortless dominance. Surrounded, revered, untouched. His Alpha aura dimmed everyone else like the sun casting mortals into shadow. Pain stabbed through my chest. I looked away quickly. Next to him was Jason, Alpha of the smaller Nightclaw pack in the southern district—famous for his cruel games with women. His gaze landed on my exposed collarbone. "Late, huh? That deserves a punishment. Come here. Let me do it myself." Ethan didn't even blink. I clenched my fists and walked over to Jason. The moment I got close, he grabbed my arm and forced me to kneel at his side. As I bent down, more of my chest was exposed. Jason raised a full glass of red wine and slowly poured it down my cleavage. Laughter and applause erupted around the room. "That's Jason for you. He knows how to have a good time!""Joy, I heard you're picky about who you serve? Sweetheart, you're just a hostess. Stop acting like you're too good for this. This is what you were made for.""You guys don't know the half of it—she used to be some big-shot socialite back in the capital. Probably knows every trick in the book to wrap men around her finger." Jason suddenly turned to Ethan. "Right, Ethan? You run the capital—ever heard of the legendary Joy before?" Ethan's eyes darkened and settled on me. His voice, barely restrained and thick with fury, cut through the room. "Never heard of her." Ten years of shared childhood. Four years of mate bond. All wiped out in four words. The cold wine soaked through my skin, making me shiver, but I didn't move. I forced a smile. "Thank you, Alpha Jason, for the punishment." Jason slammed his glass down and yanked me by the hair. "I went through hell to get Lycan Chairman Ethan here tonight, and you can't even show up on time? You got a death wish?" He shoved me forward. "Get over there and apologize. Make it convincing." Ethan still smelled the same. That scent I once ached for… now dulled into something I couldn't feel anymore. I straightened up, poured a shot of hard liquor, and held it up. "Alpha Ethan, I was late. Please accept my apology." I could feel him staring at me the entire time, but I didn't meet his eyes. I tossed the drink back in one gulp. The room stirred again. "Ethan's still not reacting? Guess he's really pissed.""Joy, that's not enough. You've gotta feed him the drink—with your mouth." I didn't move. I had sworn, long ago, never to touch Ethan again. Not even with a fingertip. The mood dropped. The room grew quiet. Jason slapped me across the face. A wad of cash followed, hitting me squarely. "Ethan even glancing your way is a privilege. Drop the innocent act - we all know what you really sell, and it ain't cheap. If this isn't enough, I'll give you more. Just make sure Ethan leaves satisfied tonight." He threw another handful of bills. One of the edges cut my cheek. It stung like fire. The rest scattered to the floor. I knelt to pick them up. Jason's friend pressed his shoe down on the stack, mocking. "Lower. We can't see that pretty body of yours properly.""Haha! Look at her—crawling like a dog." Jason roared with laughter. "Come here, Joy. You're actually kind of fun. How about spending the night with me?" I held the cash tight to my chest and lowered my head with a smile. "Thank you, Alpha, for the opportunity." That's when Ethan finally spoke. His voice was cold. So cold it cut the air like ice. In front of everyone, he asked, "Joy, do you enjoy degrading yourself like this?" I bit my lip and looked straight into his eyes. "Yes, Alpha Ethan. Would you like to have a taste as well?"

Chapter 2 Chapter 2

After terminating our mate bond, I left the capital—Ethan's domain. He had no room in his world for me, and even less for my family. While I was still undergoing treatment for silver poisoning, he stripped my family—Wilson House—of all its lands. We were bankrupt overnight. My father had opposed my mate bond to Ethan from the start. But I insisted. I was the one who begged to be his mate. On the day of our wedding, my father was so furious he locked away his wolf, collapsing and requiring ongoing care from a healer. My mother didn't fare much better. When Ethan retaliated against us, the shock was so great she swallowed silver to end it all. She's been in a coma ever since. After everything, I had just enough money left to continue their treatments. But my brother Kevin—drunk, addicted to gambling—burned through all of it in a single night. He owed money everywhere. People came knocking every day. I tried to cut him off. I really did. Then one day, he stormed into my mother's hospital room with a silver dagger in hand. "Sis, give me money or I'll kill them both. Don't think I won't!" Because I loved Ethan. Because I insisted on being his mate. I'd already hurt my parents enough. I couldn't let them die too. I had no choice but to take the fastest way out. Back in the VIP room, everyone turned toward Ethan after I finished speaking. His jaw clenched, and he looked away. "She's filthy," he said. "I'm not interested." Laughter filled the room. "Ethan, maybe you haven't heard—Joy's got a reputation for knowing how to please a man." Someone leaned in, pretending to whisper, but made sure we all heard. "They say she can't have kids. So you can do whatever you want." More laughter. "That so? Now I'm even more intrigued." Jason raised a brow and pulled me into his lap. His hand gripped my chin, his lips coming down to meet mine. But before he could kiss me, Ethan yanked him back violently by the collar. Jason nearly choked. Even so, he didn't dare retaliate. "Ethan?" he said, voice trembling with false cheer. "Something wrong?" Ethan stared him down. "Just realized. She does look a little familiar." Jason blinked, confused. "You want her now? But…" Ethan raised his eyes to meet Jason's. The force in his gaze made Jason flinch. "Of course," Jason stammered. "If you want her, I wouldn't dare keep her." He loosened his hold on me. But I moved first, reached up and wrapped my arms tighter around Jason. Ethan's face darkened instantly. "You don't want to come with me? Is this what you've become—so desperate to sell yourself?" My heart shattered, but I held onto the act, smiling like it didn't kill me. "That's right," I said. "I like it this way. Born dirty, not worthy of walking beside you. Go find someone better." Jason laughed and lifted me up. "Can't help it, Ethan. Who could say no to such an enthusiastic beauty?" Ethan smiled back, but it was cold as death. "Be my guest. She's too filthy for me." That word—"filthy"—slashed through me like a silver blade. Again. And again. But I'd gotten used to it by now. Rumors said Jason was rough and violent. I braced myself for the worst. But that night, just as he began, he got a call—something urgent in his pack—and left without a word. I ended up alone in the hotel room and slept through the night. In my dreams, I felt someone standing over me, watching, burning me alive with their gaze. But when I woke up, I was alone. The next morning, just as I stepped out of the hotel, Kevin ambushed me. "Sis! Give me money! If you don't, they'll kill me! I know you've got cash! You just spent the night with a guy!" He lunged for my bag, dumping everything onto the sidewalk. When he found nothing, he grabbed at my clothes right there in the open. I shoved him off. He came at me again. I slapped him hard across the face. "That money's for Mom and Dad!" He screamed and charged. His hand was mid-swing when someone kicked him away. "You looking to die?" I looked up. Ethan. He was dressed in luxury, radiating power. Kevin's eyes lit up. He ran over, clutching Ethan's leg. "My dear brother-in-law! I knew you still cared about Joy! Please, give me money or they'll kill me!" Ethan didn't react. He just turned to me. Kevin pulled me over, shoving me in front of Ethan. "Look! It's my sister! Your mate! The Luna of your past!" He turned to me, desperate. "Joy! Beg him! Tell him you're sorry! He'll help!" …Luna? The word hit me like a silver strike to the chest. My knees gave out. Kevin kept tugging on me, shouting, begging. I fell to the ground in front of Ethan. He frowned and crouched down, gripping my chin. His eyes were a storm—rage and something else buried deep. "I gave you enough money when we broke off our mate bond," he said, low and cold. "And yet you're out here selling yourself? You enjoy this? Joy, name your price. Whatever you want—just say it, and I'll pay." My heart bled. But I smiled through the pain, eyes full of tears. "Ethan," I said. "I'd rather earn my money dirty than ever beg you again."

Chapter 3 Chapter 3

Ethan turned on his heel, furious. "Fine. Then suffer the consequences yourself!" Kevin shoved me hard and chased after him. "Ethan, wait! Please!" I stayed where I was, kneeling on the ground, gathering my scattered items in silence. When I finally stood up, I saw Jason in the distance, watching us thoughtfully. I didn't linger. My body felt like lead. I dragged myself back to the rented apartment. After a shower, I had just dozed off when a violent pounding on the door jolted me awake. The entire building shook with the force of it. "JOY! OPEN THE DOOR!" A metal pipe slammed against the security gate. The thug's voice was deafening. "Kevin owes money. It's your job to pay it back!" I gripped a silver dagger tightly, retreating until my back hit the wall. I needed something—anything—that felt like safety. The door burst open. A glass bottle exploded against the wall, shards slicing past my cheek. The scar-faced thug at the front kicked over a chair and snarled, "That bastard Kevin didn't pay up. So guess what? You're the payment." Before I could react, two of them lunged at me. "Don't come near me!" I screamed. They laughed. "Still acting like some pure little girl? Where was all this fight when you were with other men, huh? Filthy vixen." I pressed the silver blade to my throat. My voice trembled. "One more step and I'll kill myself. I swear it." Blood had already started to stream down my neck. That finally made them stop. They spat curses as they backed off. "You've got three days. If we don't get our money, you'll be burying Kevin instead." As soon as they left, the hallway echoed with the neighbors' shouting. "Disgusting tramp! Selling yourself in broad daylight—you're a disgrace to the whole building!""If you wanna sell yourself, go somewhere else. You're a walking curse. Should've been gone long ago!" In the days that followed, my door was splattered with paint, leftover slop, and slurs scrawled in foul ink. The insults never stopped. I had no choice but to leave. The rain hadn't let up for days. The wind howled, growing stronger by the hour. My old suitcase was soaked through. A black Maybach pulled up at the curb. Ethan stepped out under a black umbrella, his leather shoes splashing through the puddles. "Five years, Joy. And look at the life you've built. Really... 'spectacular.'" I didn't respond. I kept dragging my drenched suitcase toward the beat-up car I'd finally flagged down. Ethan's mood turned on a dime. He grabbed my wrist, voice snapping. "I gave you 300 thousand dollars when we severed our mate bond. And you're out here playing the victim? Or are you putting on a show just for me?" I jerked away, clutching a damp suitcase to my chest. But his grip tightened. He wouldn't let go. In that moment, a stuffed toy slipped from my hands and fell. A second later, a car tire crushed it. Without thinking, I lunged toward the ground, reaching for it. Ethan yanked me back. "Have you lost your damn mind?! Get up!""LET GO!" I shrieked, shoving him off, soaked and shaking. "That doll was for our babies! You didn't want them—but I did! I loved them!" He froze. His eyes locked onto the shredded remains of the doll. "...You bought that for our pup?" How could I forget those beautiful twins I risked everything to bring into the world? Or the two I lost after that—each miscarriage like a piece of my soul torn away. I had been so excited, prepared so much for them. Cribs. Clothes. Toys. Until Ethan told me the truth. All those losses... were deliberate. They were his revenge. Because of Sarah. My stepsister. His first love. She got pregnant at eighteen. My parents found out and begged her to terminate it. But Sarah was stubborn. She went behind their backs to a black-market clinic. The surgery failed. She was an Omega without a wolf. Her body couldn't handle it. She died on that table. Ethan blamed my family. Said it was our fault. Said we killed her. And then he made us pay. I sold everything to keep my parents alive. Sold all the baby things too. Only that doll remained—my one connection to the pups I never got to hold. Now, even that was gone, all because of Ethan. So what right did he have to look heartbroken? I said nothing more. I left without looking back. … The rain poured harder. I curled up on a park bench, phone trembling in my palm. A call came through from the hospital. "Miss Joy, your medical bills are too far overdue. If it continues, we'll have to stop treatment. And... your father just had another emergency. Without the rare suppressant, he won't last the month." I had no options left. Only one person could help me find that rare suppressant. I forced my shaking hands to dial Jason's number. "I need a soul suppressant. Please." His voice was amused. "Joy, finally coming around? Come with me to the high seas. A few days, that's all I ask." Just hearing "high seas" made my body go cold. But I thought of my father. My mother. Even Kevin. And in the end, I said yes. "...Okay." … In the days that followed, Ethan never saw me again at the underground club. Suspicious, he wandered into a casino—and found Kevin. He grabbed him by the collar, slammed him into a wall. "Where's your sister? Hiding from me?" Kevin sneered. "She went to Jason. That freak. She's probably on her knees for him right now. She'll do anything for money. She's the shame of the Wilson bloodline." Ethan heard gamblers nearby murmuring. "She went offshore with Jason? Is she insane? Nobody comes back from those trips. Jason's ship is lawless. Girls either end up dead or... shark food." Ethan's face turned pale as death. He seized the gambler. "What did you just say?" The man looked terrified, instantly realizing Ethan wasn't someone to mess with. He spilled everything. "Jason's pack, the Nightclaw pack, owns the ship. No one dares interfere. Once he's had his fun, they say he either kills the girls himself or tosses them overboard. Nobody comes back." Before he could finish, Ethan was already gone. He charged into the storm, rain pounding down like bullets. Drenched to the bone, he pulled out his phone with shaking fingers. "Intercept that ship. Now. I dare anyone to touch my Luna!"
