It started with a simple fact: a serial killer was on the loose. Not a particularly inventive one—he had a type and stuck to it. Pretty, popular girls. And let’s be real, no one says it out loud, but they’re all mean with a high body count.
So, because I have the comedic instincts of someone who regrets things later, I joked about being safe.
“The only thing I have in common with the victims is that I, too, have a pulse. For now.”
It was funny when I said it. Not so funny when someone else said it to my face.
