The Alphas Mermaid

The air in the high school hallway crackled with an intensity I hadn't known existed outside of my underwater kingdom. My eyes, still adjusting to the fluorescent lights, locked onto his—the Alpha's. They were a mesmerizing deep blue, like the untouched depths of the ocean, and for a moment, I was lost.
Then, a sharp tug brought me back to reality. My brother, Jake, had pulled me back, his expression a mix of concern and warning. I looked back at the Alpha, only to see his face contorted in fury, held back by a Beta and a pack warrior. His growl, a guttural sound that vibrated through the very floorboards, pierced the buzzing silence.
"You are too weak to be my mate! You are a human! You will never succeed!" he spat, his words a cold slap across my face. Shock rippled through me. They didn't know who or what I was. All they knew was that this arrogant Alpha wolf was my fated mate, and he had just rejected me.
A slow smile spread across my face, a dangerous spark igniting in my purple eyes. I walked towards him, every step deliberate, my gaze unwavering as my eyes shifted to their vibrant, unmistakable purple hue. "If you only knew," I whispered, my voice barely audible above the ringing in my ears, yet laced with a power that promised retribution. Then, I turned on my heel, my brothers close behind, and walked out of that school, leaving the stunned Alpha and his pack in my wake.
