Cupid's Match | Wattpad Books Edition

The elegant calligraphy of "The Cupid's Matchmaking Service" adorned the glass shop front, a stark contrast to the 'Not Taking New Clients at This Time' sign taped haphazardly to the door. I frowned, shielding my eyes from the glaring Los Angeles sun with the stack of letters in my hand.
This wasn't what I'd expected. A skyscraper, with gilt window frames and cherubs carved into the white stone walls, felt entirely out of place for a dating agency. And for me, in my battered Converse, skinny jeans, and leather jacket.
Pushing open the glass door, a faint bell tinkled. Inside, the reception area was pristine: shiny white tiles, neon armchairs, and a high stone desk where a perfectly coiffed blonde named Crystal chatted into a headset. Above her, suspended by wires, hung a long, golden arrow. A glinting plaque on the wall read: 'Making Matches for 3,000 Years'.
I marched to the desk, dumping the stack of incessant letters onto it. Crystal looked up, startled, her blue eyes scanning my disheveled appearance. "I'm sorry," she chimed, "we're not taking on any new clients at this time."
"I'm not here to become a client," I retorted, irritation bubbling. "I'm here to tell you to stop bugging me."
