Out Of The Darkness

The LA sun beat down, but inside Beatrice's small house, the morning was still. She stirred, her phone buzzing insistently on her nightstand. Elton. Before she could even process the text, a frantic knock echoed through her quiet home.
"Elton? You didn't even give me time to answer," she yawned, pulling open the door, her hair a wild, dirty blonde mess, her pajamas wrinkled. Elton, already exasperated, held a camera tight in his hand.
"I sent that thirty minutes ago! Wait... did you just wake up?" he asked, arms crossed.
"No, I just look like this on the daily," she deadpanned, gesturing to her chaotic appearance. His next words, however, pulled her fully awake. He needed her for a prank, tonight. A big one. The kind that put you in the spotlight.
"I don't even know them," Beatrice protested, leaning against the doorframe, a familiar wave of anxiety creeping in. "Plus you live an hour away, I don't know, I don't think I'm ready for the spotlight that is YouTube."
But Elton was persistent, charming, and offered the one thing Beatrice couldn't resist: dinner, anywhere she wanted. The deal was struck, and soon, Beatrice found herself agreeing to be the 'girl from the Ring,' ready to jump scare a house full of YouTubers she'd never met.
