The flickering beam of my flashlight cut through the oppressive darkness of the abandoned orphanage. Dust motes danced in the solitary ray, like tiny, forgotten spirits. "Howdy my lovely people, it's me Chloe and today I will be trying to spend 24 hours in a haunted child's orphanage," I whispered into the camera, my voice barely above a breath. "Note I have been here before, this is one of my favourite places in Australia, and you wanted me to come back so here is your wish."
The air was thick with a chill that had nothing to do with the night. This was my last time here before the big move to LA, a final goodbye to the place that thrilled and terrified me in equal measure. I pulled my beanie lower, adjusting the camera for the perfect shot. Footsteps. A faint whisper. My heart hammered against my ribs. "So guys, I feel a little scared right now, I heard footsteps and I'm really hoping that's the ghosts because there is quite a lot of them and I don't fancy getting attacked by a cult." A nervous laugh escaped me, echoing strangely in the cavernous space. I had a feeling tonight was going to be different.
