The black dress shimmered under the soft light—a satin piece that clung to her curves perfectly—but the sky-blue dress, delicate and flowing, highlighted her eyes.
"Ugh... why is this so hard?" Evie groaned, tossing both onto her bed. A party tomorrow, but an unsettling buzz lingered in her chest.
Her phone buzzed. Lily: "You better not flake tomorrow! I expect you in something that turns heads!"
Evie chuckled. "No pressure." She typed: "Black or blue?"
Lily: "BLACK. Duh. Sexy vibes only."
"Black it is, then—" A sudden sharp pain shot through her skull. Her vision blurred, the room spinning. Panic clawed up her throat. She tried to stand, but her legs buckled. This isn't normal.
Her surroundings melted into a kaleidoscope of light. "Am I... dying? Dreaming? What's happening?!" Coldness seeped into her bones, and then—nothing.
