Another Night on Mosken

Every morning, the mist, the crows, and the gnawing anxiety return. On a remote Norwegian mountaintop, a lone bodyguard, Jason, dedicates himself to protecting the two daughters of a controversial politician. But when an old enemy resurfaces and a brutal attack shatters their fragile peace, Jason is thrust into a desperate fight for survival. Haunted by past failures and battling an adversary who seems to anticipate his every move, he must confront the chilling truth: some nightmares don't end when you wake up. Will he save the girls, or will this isolated sanctuary become their tomb?
Mornings are the hardest part. I'm mugged into consciousness by a flock of black birds. They flutter out of the air in an avalanche of wings and claws, ruffling my hair, skimming my face with their feathers. Every morning. Like an alarm clock. And, every morning, the anxiety returns on a tide so high that I can't believe I ever got to sleep in the first place. The mountaintop is thick with a mist that doesn't blow away until at least ten – that's why the birds swoop out at me. They're not malevolent, just disoriented. I think. I'm as blind as they are before the fog clears, but I get up anyway, feeling my way across the courtyard to the house.
