Avery Matthews. Three boys, a girl & one dorm

I crossed my arms over my chest and glared at my father. He sat across from me in the train with a guilty look on his face. It wasn’t fooling me. Trees passed by the dirty windows of our train cabin, and I tried to count them even though I knew we were going too fast for that.
“It’s for the best, Avery.” He tried, with those deep sad eyes. Those that resembled mine so much. I had seen those eyes before. My dad had been hurt a lot. It was hard to defy those eyes, but I had to.
I lifted my head up, stubbornly. “Still mad.”
“Oh, stop being a brat!” Carol scolded. I looked at the brunette. My evil stepmother. That sounded kind of cliché didn’t it? She was sitting next to my dad, her hand on his. “It’s not like it’s the end of the world!” She said, running her free hand through her hair. A diamond ring reflected in the sunlight coming from the window.
“The end of the world is better than this.” I answered under my breath. She eyed me and I eyed her back. We maintained this stare down for a while.
