From Friends to Forever

The familiar scent of coffee and the low hum of conversation filled Ava Sinclair's favorite city cafe. It was Saturday, noon, and the usual time for her weekly ritual with Ethan Grant. Her eyes, usually content, held a restless flicker as she stirred her coffee, the swirls of cream reflecting the subtle chaos in her mind. This wasn't just another Saturday.
She checked her phone for the third time, a small smile playing on her lips at Ethan's delayed message. "Where are you, Mr. Reliable?" she muttered, a tease already forming on her tongue.
Just then, the cafe door swung open, and there he was—Ethan, a disarming grin already in place, his dark hair a charming mess. He strode towards their usual table, the very picture of someone who knew he was always forgiven. "Late again," Ava teased as he slid into the seat across from her. "This is becoming a pattern, you know."
