Rivals of the heart

The blare of the house alarm cut through the morning quiet, jarring Bella awake. "Good morning! Everyone," she called out, already bustling. Her younger siblings, Brandon and Bianca, emerged from their rooms, groggy and protesting the early hour. Bella, ever the responsible older sister, had breakfast ready, a small victory in her chaotic mornings.
After getting the kids on the school bus, she found herself waiting for a cab, when a familiar luxury car pulled up. Her heart sank. Oh, no, not him again. The window glided down, revealing the infuriatingly attractive face of William Davesworth, her boss. "Get in," he commanded, his smirk infuriating.
Bella suppressed a sigh, opting for compliance over a repeat of their last standoff. As she settled into the passenger seat, the familiar tension settled between them, a silent battle of wills already underway. She detested him, yet she couldn't deny the unsettling tremor his presence caused. This was going to be a long day.
