Lila Black just wanted the mysterious 'Cupid's Matchmaking Service' to stop spamming her. Instead, she's thrust into a world of mythological secrets, ancient feuds, and a shocking revelation: she's been 'matched' with none other than Cupid himself—the original, most powerful, and dangerously alluring one. With her ordinary life unraveling and a destiny she never asked for, Lila must navigate treacherous mythological politics, uncover dark truths, and confront a terrifying question: can she defy fate when it's literally chasing her?

The elegant calligraphy above the glass shop front declared it "The Cupid's Matchmaking Service." A less elegant, hand-taped sign beneath it read: "Not Taking New Clients at This Time."

I frowned, shielding my eyes from the Los Angeles sun with the stack of spam letters I held. I couldn't believe I was actually here, standing before a skyscraper adorned with gilt window frames and cherubs carved into white stone. This wasn't the small, discreet dating agency I'd envisioned.

Pushing open the glass door, a bell tinkled softly. Inside, shiny white tiles reflected neon armchairs, and a high stone reception desk dominated the room. Behind it, a blond woman in a crisp white suit, sporting a name badge that read 'Crystal,' chattered into a headset.

"Can I call you back? Something's just come up," Crystal chirped into the headset, her blue eyes scanning my battered Converse, skinny jeans, and leather jacket with barely concealed judgment. "I'm sorry," she added, turning to me, "we're not taking on any new clients at this time."

Irritation flared. "I'm not here to become a client," I stated, dumping the stack of letters onto her desk. "I'm here to tell you to stop bugging me. I am not interested in your services. I don't know how you have my personal details, but you need to remove me from your mailing lists. I have a boyfriend already, thanks very much."
