Agent 13 (Book 1)

Agent 13 (Book 1)
She's the ghost story you tell around a campfire. The monster that hides in your closet. The nightmare that wakes you from your sleep. She's the definition of the word 'deadly'. She never smiles, never shows any emotion other than a blank stare. Unless, she's pissed, then it shows. She doesn't trust any of the other agents, only the chief. She doesn't play nice with others. She's a solo agent, always works alone, but that's about to change. Respect her and she'll take a bullet for you. Mistreat her and she'll put a bullet in you...if you're lucky. She's Agent 13...

The sterile air of the Agency's headquarters hummed with a tension that was almost palpable. Cody slammed his fist into the worn punching bag, the impact echoing through the training room. Sweat beaded on his brow, blurring the edges of his vision. He ignored Devin's usual wisecracks, the friendly jabs from Jason, and even Chase's attempts to calm the brewing storm within him.

Then the PA system crackled to life, pulling them all to attention. "Delta team 2, please report to Chief Zero's office for mission briefing."

Cody felt a knot tighten in his stomach. The Chief never called field agents to his office unless it was critical. This wasn't just a briefing; it was something big, something that threatened to upend their well-oiled machine. His team, Delta 2, was the best the Agency had, a perfect unit. He wouldn't allow anything to jeopardize that.
