The flashing blue and red lights painted the mangled sedan in stark, pulsating strokes against the dark highway. Officer Miller's boots crunched on shattered glass as he surveyed the wreckage. A bubbling rasp from the car's interior was the only sound of life, signaling the presence of a severely injured young woman, barely visible beneath a mask of matted hair and blood.

The distant wail of an ambulance grew louder, cutting through the eerie silence. Two paramedics, dressed in unusual, full-sleeve coveralls, arrived with uncanny speed.
