Catherine (J. Black)

The world had shifted. The moment a human girl stepped into their lives, everything fractured. Catherine had been happy, she believed Edward was too. He was the first face she saw when she awoke to this immortal life, the one who promised her everything would be alright. She loved him.
"Kitty," Emmett, her giant, lovable brother-in-law, squeezed her hand and kissed her head. "We're not going far." He gestured to Rosalie, who stood with arms crossed, a storm brewing in her eyes. Rosalie, furious that a 'passing phase' had shattered her baby sister's heart.
Catherine simply nodded, her gaze fixed on the window. She hadn't moved since sunrise, watching Edward leave, then remaining like a statue. Rosalie sighed, moving to her, kissing her head and pulling her close.
"We love you," Rosalie whispered, her voice fierce with conviction. "We will always love you." Catherine looked up, and Rosalie nodded, pressing another kiss to her forehead as Emmett gave her head a gentle squeeze.
"Do you want me to kill him?" Rosalie asked, her tone low and dangerous.
"No," Catherine whispered back. Rosalie leaned closer.
"Do you want me to kill her?"
Catherine shook her head again. "No."
Emmett exchanged a look with Rosalie. "We'll get out of your way," he offered. Rosalie nodded, kissing Catherine's head once more before they left. Catherine returned to her vigil, staring out the window.
