The air in Mystic Falls, 2010, hung heavy with an unnatural stillness, broken only by the rustle of leaves in the ancient trees. Hope Mikaelson, disoriented and aching, pushed herself up from the forest floor, her tribrid senses still reeling from the violent expulsion from Malivore. The world around her was eerily familiar yet profoundly wrong.

"Post tenebras spero lucem," she whispered, her voice a low incantation, and a soft ball of light bloomed in her palm, casting dancing shadows through the dense woods. Her heart pounded a frantic rhythm against her ribs as a distant engine hummed, drawing her towards the edge of the treeline.

Through the foliage, she saw it: a moving truck, parked ominously outside Mystic Falls High School. And then, the voices, chillingly familiar. Klaus. Stefan. A wave of nauseating dread washed over her as she realized the impossible truth: she was not only out of Malivore, but she was trapped in the past, in a time when her father was still the ruthless, unredeemed Hybrid King. She watched, hidden, as Klaus brutally snapped Stefan's neck, the casual violence a stark reminder of the man he once was. Panic flared, but then, a cold resolve settled in.
