The only sound through the closed door of Cordelia’s bedroom was the music playing through her phone. She hummed along to the lyrics of 'Kiss Me' by Sixpence None the Richer, flicking through her closet for an outfit. She wasn't going anywhere fancy, just to The Grill with Caroline for a Matt-stalking session, but she knew if she didn’t find something that met her best friend’s standards, they'd be there for hours.
She heard her mother Anastasia gasp lightly from downstairs, followed by muffled, joyful chatter, a sure sign of Caroline's arrival. Anastasia always had a soft spot for her daughter's best friend.
Cordelia settled on a plain white summer dress Caroline had bought her for her birthday. Stopping the music, she walked downstairs to meet her. "Hey Care Bear," Cordelia said with a smile, seeing the blonde with her mother at the kitchen island.
