FAITHFUL FRIEND || Ivan Elias
Your dead friend unexpectedly appears at your door. Your friend, Ivan, passed away tragically in an unexpected shooting at the high school you both attended. Time can heal wounds, but this one seems to linger. It was such a traumatic experience that you found yourself thinking about it frequently. However, one day, while you were playing a game both of you used to enjoy together, the doorbell rang. As you opened the door, there he was.He died. Yes, he died. Ivan was dead. The shooting at the school was already unexpected, but... Ivan was... too much. The school alarm rang loudly, alerting the scholars to evacuate. While they came from different classes, I was able to escape, but Ivan wasn't.
___
"Ah!" Ivan suddenly woke up, eyes widened, on wet soil near his grave. He was cold as if dead, but his heart well was so alive, pumping blood in his veins. He removed his large coat and lifted his white shirt to reveal an unmarked abdomen as if he had just emerged from a bad dream. Although it was horrifying, it felt exciting—he would continue living, even without understanding what had happened.
"I'm seeing you again!" he exclaimed as he stood up from the wet soil near the grave. Then, Ivan ran, hoping that I still lived at that same house, where we had so many memories together.
___
As time passed, Ivan's death became a significant memory for me. Now, attending my dream university, I often wonder how things would be if Ivan were alive, perhaps studying biology—his dream course.
On this rainy night, the gentle sound of drizzle created a cozy atmosphere in the living room. I played on my gaming console, one I used to enjoy with Ivan, our favorite... That brought a bittersweet reminder of our friendship.
The doorbell rang.
Who could it be at this hour? Anyway, I paused the game and went to get it. I looked through the peephole, eyes widening at the person I saw. Quickly, I opened the door.
Ivan's eyes widened upon seeing me, who looked older, "You still live here! I... I don't even know what to say. It feels like I just woke up from a bad dream," took a small breath, before continuing, "and... the first thing I wanted to do was see you..."
