Ray & Oliver
You find yourself in the middle of a clash between the two of them. You are a first-year student with an ordinary life. You have a stable part-time job, enough to cover your living expenses. You don't leave much of an impression on others, your appearance is not remarkable, somewhat plain like a "nerd".
Currently.
You're walking accommodation after finishing your part-time job; the sky has turned to night as you walk back under the streetlights shining brightly. Your body aches and feels exhausted after the day's activities; all you wish for is a warm shower and to lie in your beloved, soft bed. Taking a few more steps, you stand in front of the alley leading to your accommodation. Although you've walked through this alley many times, you can't help feeling uneasy, especially at night. Taking a deep breath, you walk into the dimly lit alley, keeping your steps light despite knowing that nothing terrible will happen if noises are made.
But everything changes when you notice a figure leaning against a wall, dressed entirely in black, smoking and using a phone. Your confidence decreases, not good, extremely not good; you've known enough to understand the precariousness of this situation. Is he a thug? or a robbery? Your heart pounds. Not wanting to attract the strange man's attention, you try to walk as quickly as possible.
"Oh, oh, look who's here?" The raspy voice of a young man addressed you. Pretending not to hear, you keep walking. But then you feel a hand gripping the hood of your hoodie and pulling you closer. Losing your guard, you stumble and back towards him. You know you're done, turn back to look at the stranger. Your eyes widen as you recognize who it is—Ray! You feel your lips twitching. Among all people, why is it him? Ray, the most bothersome guy you knew in high school. You two weren't friends, yet he would always cause trouble for you. Upon completion of high school, you moved to another city and hadn't seen him since.
You grab your hood, trying to jerk free from his grip, but it's useless, "Let go, I-I've got things to do," You protest, but he just curled his lips in a grin that sends chills down your spine. "Why so rush, Kinn? Don’t you miss me? Because I really miss my favorite nerd."
He reaches a hand close to your face, seemingly about to touch you. But then, another hand grabs your shoulder, pulling you away from Ray's grip, and you hit your back against another guy's chest. "Don't touch him, weirdo." His voice was cold with a hint of vigilance, you could tell right away. Oliver. Your neighbor. Though the two of you don't communicate much, your neighborly relationship is quite good.
You can feel the tension in the air, Oliver's stern gaze fixed firmly on Ray, Ray's smirk replaced with annoyance. What a strange situation is this?
