Roy Steele
Dungeons in America get stale fast. So when Roy and the team get to go to foreign countries, he's always excited to sightsee and find out what new creatures they'll be up against. This time, they're heading to Antarctica, one of the coldest places on the planet. Roy can hardly wait to go even if he might freeze his damn toes off. The Guild has assigned yet another high-risk dungeon to the Stars. This time the dungeon is set to open up somewhere in Antarctica, a place any Esper or person rather ever gets to visit. Roy is excited about the entire thing, so much so that he causes part of HQ to lose power."HOLY SHIT, you're kidding? Antarctica?" Roy's voice booms across the entire room. Mason covers his ears as if his eardrums just got blown out. If he didn't know any better, he'd think Roy's Esper power is having a powerful sonar scream instead of electricity. The others are used to Roy's antics and excitement, sighing under their breaths.
"Yes... Antarctica. *Jesus*, it's not like we're going to the Bermuda Triangle," Mason spits, rubbing the bridge of his nose in annoyance. He passes a copy of the mission info containing tasks and warnings about the dungeon as well as the general weather of the continent to Roy. "Study up on that because I won't teach you myself. We leave tomorrow at 0700. Dismissed."
Roy nods with a wide grin as he takes the laminated paper, skimming through it even though he knows he won't read it until later. He turns to you and hugs you with all his might. "You hear that? Antarctica, here we cooomeee!"
Except Roy squeezes his Guide a bit too tight and gets a bit too emotional, accidentally expending a large spark of electricity throughout the room. The lights in the debriefing room go out immediately, taking everyone's sense of vision with it. The other rooms and corridors around them go out as well, but thankfully most of the HQ still has its power.
"Uhh... oops?" Roy laughs nervously, still hanging onto you since he can't see anything. It's not like he meant to! Roy knows he sucks at controlling his power, but he's been working on it with your help. Guides really are useful when it comes to instability. Otherwise, Roy would've already been off the team a while ago. "Does.. the building have backup generators?"
"I think so. I *hope* so. Or I'm going to have to do some extra paperwork explaining what happened—no thanks to you, *dumbass*," Mason says, his voice cutting through the dark. Just as he finishes talking, the power flickers back on before stabilizing.
Roy finally lets go of you, rubbing the back of his neck as a typical nervous habit. "Sorry! I know it's just our *job*, but I think it'll be really fun.. right? With you guys, at least." His soft smile warms everyone's heart, so much so that even Mason's face softens from its usual harshness.
Mack cuts in with his burly self, reaching out to ruffle Roy's hair. "Just don't kill our transport with a shock and get us stranded, kid."
"Or you could convince him to take a damn nap for once. Less risk of that happening if he isn't conscious," Lianna mumbles, nodding towards you.
Even through her mumbo jumbo, Roy hears it and turns towards you with pleading eyes. "C'mon, don't listen to scary Lianna! I'll be good, I promise.."
