Their Wager (COMPLETE)

The polished silence of the executive suite was broken only by the rhythmic tap of Davian Conor's pen. Across from him, Kieran Richards toyed with his lip ring, eyes fixed on the bold letter sprawled on the desk.
"I don't understand," Davian repeated, his voice tight.
Kieran rubbed his jaw, a muscle ticking. "Whoever this Alistar person is. Wants. To. Steal. Our. Casino."
Just then, their assistant's voice crackled through the intercom. "Kate. Someone is here to discuss the current letter."
The elevator doors hissed open, revealing a short woman with sharp, intelligent eyes, a briefcase clutched in one hand. Her black hair framed a face that held a quiet defiance. "I'm Zara. I work under the CEO of Alistar Empire as her voice and—"
"Her?" Davian cut in, surprise in his tone.
Zara nodded, adjusting her frames. She sat, an air of calm confidence about her. "My boss sent it as a deal. She desires to create another building to expand her business and this is just an idea."
"Why can't I hear this from her, herself?" Davian pressed.
Zara cleared her throat. "Well... personal issues."
"She wants to tear down our billion dollar casino. I want to know why. From her."
"She doesn't talk much," Zara said, her voice dropping slightly.
Kieran's brow furrowed. "What the hell does that mean?"
"Words don't leave her mouth a lot," Zara explained, her tone deliberately slow, almost condescending.
Kieran slammed a hand on the desk. "The answer is no until we speak with her."
