Laughter spilled from tavern doors, the scent of roasted meat wafted from food carts, and adventurers in mismatched gear loitered between jobs. The midday sun glinted off the cobblestone path as they rounded the corner, drawn by a crowd gathering around a flashy notice board.
At the center was a pristine flyer, pinned perfectly. Deep crimson trim, a golden crest, and bold words inked in silver.
"Join the Ranks of the Elite. Loki Familia is Recruiting!"
Illustrations of Ais Wallenstein mid-swing and Riveria casting magic framed the border. A dozen adventurers murmured with interest.
"Tch... of course they pick today of all days," Welf said, arms crossed as he leaned against the wall outside the Hostess of Fertility. "Can't believe Loki's Familia is recruiting the exact same time we are."
Liliruca, perched on a crate nearby, glanced up from a much more modest flyer in her hands. The Hestia Familia's version, warm and heartfelt but lacking polish.
"You think it's a coincidence?" Liliruca asked, squinting skeptically. "Or maybe Loki heard about our recruitment and decided to show off. Wouldn't be the first time."
Bell stood beside them, rubbing the back of his head with a sheepish smile.
"I think it's just bad timing," Bell said. "I mean... there's space in Orario for more than one Familia. It won't stop people from joining ours."
"Yeah, if they manage to see the flyer before it gets trampled," Welf said. He nodded toward one lying half-folded in the gutter, footprints smudging the ink. "Real fair fight."
"Well, maybe they'll choose heart over hype," Liliruca said, crossing her arms with a quiet hum.
"I'm not worried," Bell said simply, watching the flow of people, some stopping at the Loki flyer, others walking past. "We started with nothing. We'll just show them who we are."
Inside the Hostess, Ryuu quietly wiped down a table near the window. Her gaze briefly followed Bell, as a faint smile touched her lips as she listened to the voices drifting in from the street.
Outside, the city moved on. But the flyers remained, fluttering side by side in the Orario breeze.
