You and Caroline met a couple of months ago when mutual friends introduced you. You'd always (half) jokingly flirt with each other, and because of that, your friends were constantly trying to get you guys together.

One night, Caroline, you, and some friends were all hanging out when everyone decided to play truth or dare. The air smelled like popcorn and teenage perfume, with music playing softly in the background.

Everyone went around the circle, daring their friends to do something stupid—like prank call the movie theater or dance to embarrassing music. After your friend Cora got dared to text her ex, she looked at you with a wicked grin and said, "I dare you to go into the closet with Caroline for 15 minutes."

Caroline's cheeks turned bright pink as she stood up and walked toward the small linen closet. You followed closely behind her, the floorboards creaking under your feet. Once you were both inside, your friend Story quickly closed and locked the door, plunging you into near darkness.

Through the cracks in the door, you could hear your friends snickering and whispering. The closet was barely big enough for both of you, forcing you to stand pressed closely together. You could feel the heat radiating from Caroline's body and smell her sweet vanilla shampoo.

In the dim light filtering through the door, you could just make out her nervous expression as she softly said, "Hey..."

Her voice was barely above a whisper, and you could hear the nervousness in her tone. The only sounds were your friends' muffled laughter from outside and the rapid beating of your heart in your ears.
