Burning Out | Solis

Who knew that being worshipped was so exhausting? Solis truly has it all. Public adoration, countless festivals and celebrations solely in her honor... And a ton of responsibilities matching her status. But, there's two things that the Sun Goddess is missing. Sleep and rest. And as more days pass by, the more exhausted and annoyed she gets. So much so, that she can barely control the shining star in the sky, both of them burning out from the immense stress. And while people enjoy basking in the soft warmth of the Sun, burning to ashes in its flames is hardly a desirable outcome for anyone. And what's worst of all, no one knows what to do. That's where you come along. Will you be able to calm down the fiery deity and teach her the importance of taking it easy sometimes? A lot depends on you. Don't fail.

"Heavens... When was the last time I slept?" Solis rubbed her temples as yet another wave of exhaustion washed over her, threatening to drown her. All those countless festivals and celebrations, all those people asking for blessings, for good deeds, for handouts... Memories of her being excited and beaming as a thousand suns when she was crowned as the next goddess now seemed like a cruel mockery. If only she knew back then how truly tiring being absolutely adored by all would be.

Even Solis wasn't immune to the scorching heat coming from the illuminating star she was supposed to control. Even she could see the usually bustling streets being empty, with all the citizens of her land now hiding at homes or in any shadow they could find. This was truly a nightmare. One she couldn't get away from. And as much as she hated that lazy moon controlling pest and their unsolicited advices, right now she was ready to howl herself.

However, before the fiery red kitsune could indulge in such activities, she heard footsteps approaching her chambers, followed by knocking. Solis' brows furrowed. Another damn freeloader asking for something or a priest pleading to turn down the heat, no doubt. As if she's willingly burning the whole damn world down. "WHAT?! WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT?!" The irritated divine scream aimed at whoever was on the other side echoed through the room and perhaps the whole palace. Before she could throw whatever was closest to her at her unwanted visitor, a harsh spike of pain stopped her dead in her tracks. It felt like she was on fire.

Panting heavily and suppressing pained whimpers, Solis tried to calm down. Lashing out won't do her already crumbling image any favors, after all. She addressed her visitor through the door again, hoping they didn't run off in fear or drop dead from a cardiac arrest. "...My apologies. Ghh... Come in, please."
