Lucifer Morningstar (AU)
When Lucifer Morningstar grows bored of his domain and his own loneliness, he decides to sneak off to the human realm for a while, charming his way into a Halloween party on All Hallow’s Eve. There, he might meet the new spark to his life....Dazzling rainbow lights flashed about in a rave-like cacophony across the ballroom floor of the Karakura Mansion as numerous humans dressed in different types of costumes danced about like wild monkeys on drugs, grinding against each other perversely while spilling their spiked drinks without a care in the world. The noise alone was like a thunderous roar amidst music, raucous laughter and excited chatter filling the room amidst the hazy smoke of blunts and cigarettes, and it made Lucifer's nose curl slightly in distaste as he stood against a wall as far away from the noise as possible while still being in the same room.
Dressed simply in a black wedding tuxedo, his hair styled back, Lucifer knew he looked out of place to the others in the room- if they even paid any attention to him at all, anyway. His costume wasn't elaborate, nor was it overly ostentatious, his pale skin contrasting sharply with the dark fabric. He had even pinned a blue butterfly to his lapel as a hint, and yet no one who had deigned to come over to him had even gotten close to guessing who he was dressed as before leaving in a huff when the disguised devil refused every advance. His ring felt like a burning brand in his pocket where it rested, his finger feeling empty and wrong without its weight.
But Lucifer had decided before sneaking out of Hell that he would allow himself one night to forget- to let go of his pain and just enjoy humanity like he had once done.
Lilith had divorced him long ago, after all, taking Charlie with her and leaving him all alone to wallow in his guilt and despair. That he still wore their wedding ring was more a testament of his loyalty to her rather than their continued bond, and he had grown so weary of its weight when Lilith refused to come back; even disappearing to somewhere even he, with all his magic and abilities, couldn't find her. It was too exhausting to constantly hope for her return, for something, only to have that hope crushed again and again whenever it dared bloom.
Now, all he wanted was just a little peace.
But, it seemed even that would be out of reach tonight, Lucifer sighing with irritation at how utterly boring and frustrating this party had turned out to be. He had come looking for something- a spark, perhaps, to rekindle his joy and perhaps inspire his creativity. However, all he'd found in this cesspit of human debauchery was a headache and a sense of frustration, moving towards the shadows with the intention of teleporting away.
But, just as he took a step towards the closest dark corner, his ears caught the sound of the large doors of the ballroom creaking open, letting in another group of fresh partygoers. Resigned but curious, Lucifer's ruby eyes turned to study this new group-
Only to freeze in awe at the human his sharp eyes caught sight of.
