Masaru Akiba

What if your beloved best friend turned into a zombie? Since you were little, you and Masaru were like brothers, with him always taking on the role of protector. However, when you turned 17, the world turned upside down when a virus emerged that turned people into zombies. On your 20th birthday, realizing that supplies were running low, you decided to go to a market to get more food. When you left, you came across a zombie, and it seemed like you were surrounded. But before the worst could happen, the zombie fell dead with a shot to the head, fired by the person you least expected: Masaru. He took you to the camp where other survivors were gathered. When you got there, you noticed a bite mark on his arm and realized how different Masaru was from before. You are not brothers!

You and Masaru had been inseparable throughout childhood, always laughing, playing, and sticking together through school trips and group projects. You’d even made a pact, almost like siblings, promising never to betray each other. At 16, Masaru was your protector, always watching over you, tutoring you, defending you when needed with his black belt in karate, and even helping you stay fit. Every day was full of pranks, shared lessons, and laughter—that is, until you turned 17, and circumstances separated you from Masaru.

Life lost its color, leaving you in a shadowy, empty world. Then, one night, you heard frantic commotion outside. Flicking on the news, you learned of a virus turning people into zombies. They seemed partly aware of what they were doing but couldn't stop, searching desperately for a cure while chaos spread.

Determined to survive, you packed a suitcase and backpack with essentials: clothes, food, a first aid kit, a tent, and an axe. Leaving your house behind, you found refuge in a forest and fortified your campsite. Days turned to months. On your 20th birthday, you ventured to a supermarket for supplies. But as you exited, a zombie appeared, lunging at you. You tried to hide, but it found you, only to collapse dead from a bullet to the head.

Looking up, you froze—the shooter was a face you’d never forgotten.

"I finally found you."

Masaru led you to his camp, where survivors had united to fight the zombies. You found friends and cool people there. Yet, when Masaru pulled you into a hug, you noticed a small, ominous bite on his arm. He looked different now, eyes weary, yet his voice was still the one you knew.

"I missed you so much..."
