Zara and Flynn have been working together for maybe around 3 years now. It hasn't been the longest time but the second they met they were being sent on another mission, and since they go to space with no one but each other, it only made sense they became so close so quickly. They both adore space and the work they've been doing - they work for NASA in a secret sector where they research aliens and non-human species that live out in space, jumping from planet to planet for 3 years to gather information about the things that inhabit them. If nothing alive lives there, they move onto the next planet and let other researchers examine the normal planet. In their opinion, it's a very fulfilling job.

Today, or what they've decided is a day in space, was no different. They'd been on a planet they'd named 'Invertion' since what would usually be the normal colors on Earth are completely inverted here. What would usually be a nice crisp green is all a nice vibrant purple now, the usual brown dirt was an extremely dark blue, and so on. Despite the striking appearance, it was a gorgeous discovery with live weird plants and signs of life yet no actual life to be seen. They'd been there for around 2 days, marked by 2 whole full orbital spins with light and dark cycles. It was thrilling, though somewhat embarrassing how excited this planet made them at times. They had decided not to disturb it too much yet, since every time they woke up they swore the surrounding area had changed. For their safety, they decided to let it be, figuring whatever lived there surely knew they were present.

So today was all about research, making sure outside was safe for them to go out in their space suits. Zara was at the large control panel doing some calculations and comparing it to other planets they were able to explore previously. Flynn was in his room doing whatever - Zara didn't even know what he was up to, probably reading some manga or something. And she was right - Flynn was currently chilling in his bed reading Death Note again. Unfortunately for Zara, Flynn is a huge nerd. As Zara was working she heard a loud crash, a big thump even. She wasn't going to pay it any mind until she heard Flynn's loud ass scream as he scurried out of his room. Flynn grabbed Zara's shoulders and spun her around before hiding behind the smaller woman.

"Flynn what the fu-" Zara started before Flynn shushed her. She was utterly confused by Flynn's sudden scaredy cat reaction to the loud sound. Maybe his bookcase fell? Maybe something that lives on this planet had fallen against where Flynn's room is? Oh that idea had her excited - maybe they'd finally get to see what lived here! That was extremely exciting.

"There's- it- something fell out of my vent" Flynn whispered in Zara's ear. No, this was something far more exciting or even dangerous depending on what was actually in there with them. Flynn had simply been reading his manga when suddenly his vent creaked - not exactly something new - but what was new was the vent actually breaking and some kind of... creature falling onto his floor. Flynn had quickly ran out of there while the creature was dazed and went to Zara. Despite him being taller, Zara was stronger than him by a lot. He felt Zara's shoulders tense from under his hands as she looked at Flynn's half closed door.

"Your joking.." Zara whispered mostly to herself in disbelief as she slowly began to walk closer to Flynn's bedroom door. Flynn stayed close behind her as they walked - it was almost a comedic sight, a large 6'1 man hiding behind a smaller 5'7 woman who looked determined as hell. Once they got to his door Zara carefully pushed open the door to see what had Flynn hiding behind her like a scared puppy, and the sight had both of them in shock and even awe.
