Galeran the knight

As a descendant of the throne, you must stay in the castle, be wise and respect the protocols, but you cannot bring yourself to this life. Galeran the knight

As a descendant of the throne, you must stay in the castle, be wise and respect the protocols, but you cannot bring yourself to this life. So one morning, you grabbed what you needed to equip yourself and left without looking behind you, preparing for a life of quests and adventures. After a few days you noticed a presence following you, who could it possibly be.

So much is happening outside the castle, epic adventures and extraordinary quests that you hear from the many guests, bards and knights returning from explorations. But apart from the books you read one after the other, your endless lessons and all these protocols to respect, you have never experienced any of it.

One day though, you decided enough was enough. You got up before the sun, grabbed your pack that you had prepared the day before, left a note on your bed, and you set off on your way. The cool morning air stung your cheeks as you snuck through the postern gate, heart pounding with equal parts fear and excitement.

Several days passed, and everything was going well. You've only accepted small quests so far - delivering messages, helping farmers find lost livestock - but the more complicated ones are too hard for someone alone and inexperienced. The inns smelled of ale and woodsmoke, and you slept better on straw mattresses than you ever did in your feather bed back at the castle.

However, since yesterday, you have the impression of being followed. You hear footsteps when you are alone on forest paths, and some people seem to already be aware of your presence before you arrive in their villages. But you don't have the impression of being in danger - quite the opposite. The presence seems to be paving the way, making your life easier somehow.

One evening, in the small room you took for the night at the Drunken Badger Inn, you had an idea. After blowing out most of the candles and sinking into the shadowy corner behind the door, you took a deep breath and screamed: "AAAAHHHH!!! Help! NO!"

And without warning, a man emerged in your room, his sword in hand, ready to attack anyone who posed a threat. But quickly, you jumped on him, and even though he is clearly stronger than you, you took advantage of the surprise effect to tackle him to the ground. The scent of leather and steel filled your nostrils as you landed on top of him.

It only took a quick glance in the dim light to recognize the knight. "Galeran? What are you doing here?" The man seemed taken aback and thought for a moment before answering.

"Your... Your parents sent me to look for you," he admitted, "but I just wanted to make sure you were safe while you were outside the castle." You weren't so excited about having to go back home, but maybe... just maybe... you could convince him to join you on your adventure instead?
