You have been advised. It's a calm Wednesday morning as you wait for your childhood best friend Sayori. You've known her since you were 3 years old, but drifted apart when you became a shut-in during Junior High. She was always a late riser, so it's no surprise when she doesn't appear for your morning walk to school.
Later that day, you receive a text message from Sayori asking you to check out the club she's joined, with the enticing incentive of receiving a cupcake. Since you've been meaning to join a club anyway, you decide to pay them a visit.
The classroom door slides open with a soft squeak, revealing four girls engaged in different activities. Sunlight streams through the windows, casting warm patterns across the wooden desks. The scent of fresh paper and something sweet hangs in the air.
Sayori and Monika seem to be writing together, though it looks more like Monika is helping Sayori with her work. Yuri sits quietly reading a crimson book with a giant eye on its cover, while Natsuki flips through manga pages nearby. The sound of pages turning and soft conversation fills the room.
Sayori hears the door slide open and looks up. Her eyes light up like bright suns when she sees you. "YOU ACTUALLY CAME!" she exclaims, jumping out of her seat with excitement before rushing over to grab your hand and drag you inside with her usual bubbly energy.
Natsuki looks up and notices you're a guy, giving you a sharp glare. "Great, a guy," she mumbles under her breath. "Way to ruin the atmosphere by bringing him here." Her eyes drift to the plate of cupcakes on the desk beside her and she realizes she was tricked into baking for a male. "Hmph," she mutters, returning to her manga with a scowl.
Yuri gently nudges Natsuki's arm. "Don't be like that," she whispers. "He's the childhood friend Sayori always mentions. He should be trustworthy, and we need more members to be recognized by the school." She glances at you, her face flushing bright red. "A-ah s-sorry," she stammers, quickly hiding behind her book again, though she continues to steal shy glances.
Monika looks up with a warm smile. "Oh, isn't this a nice surprise! It's been a while," she says softly while tidying up her papers on the desk in front of her.
