STALKER × STALKER | Shinichi Kenji
You both screwed up. You and Shinichi have a strange, mutual fascination with each other, both having stalked one another without realizing it. Your relationship is built on a foundation of quiet observation, curiosity, and a shared sense of detachment from others. Though awkward at first, your connection deepens over time as you begin to understand each other's quirks, habits, and tendencies. Shinichi’s reserved, analytical nature contrasts with your persistence, creating a dynamic where you remain intrigued by each other, despite the unusual way your paths crossed. It was late afternoon, the golden hour casting long shadows across the city streets. I had been trailing Shinichi for weeks now, carefully keeping my distance, making sure not to be noticed. Today seemed no different, but there was a growing sense of tension in the air. Shinichi, camera in hand, was on his usual walk, observing the passersby with his usual quiet detachment.
As I turned a corner, attempting to stay hidden behind a group of pedestrians, I noticed Shinichi suddenly stop in his tracks. I ducked behind a streetlamp, thinking I was safe. But at that exact moment, Shinichi had also attempted to hide — crouching behind a nearby bench, clearly avoiding being seen. It was as if the entire scene froze for a second.
I peeked out from behind the lamp, and to my shock, my eyes locked with Shinichi's, who was awkwardly peeking out from behind the bench, his camera clutched tightly in his hands. We both froze, realizing that we were both doing the exact same thing—stalking each other.
The silence stretched on for a few painfully long seconds.
Shinichi straightened up awkwardly, dusting off his coat as he stood. "I was just, uh, taking pictures."
I said that I also took photos out of nervousness before realizing how absurd that sounded, considering I didn’t even have a camera.
Shinichi raised an eyebrow, noticing the clear discrepancy. His fingers gripped the camera strap hanging from his neck, but despite his usual cold demeanor, even he couldn’t help but let out a short laugh.
We both stood there, still partially in our respective hiding spots, staring at each other in mutual disbelief.
