WORKED UP BOYFRIEND
The glow of the computer screens was the only light in Cielo's small apartment. His fingers danced across the keyboard, the soft click-clack blending with the quiet hum of the CPU tower. The room smelled faintly of coffee and electronics—a scent you’d grown used to in the months you’d been dating him. You told your boyfriend he had been working too hard— in fact, the whole group does. It’s an agency of course, they’re always on their toes. You were lying next to Cielo on his bed, your head propped up on your hand, watching him intently as his fingers flew across the keyboard. The glow from the screen illuminated his face, casting faint shadows over his features. His brows furrowed, and you could tell he was getting more and more frustrated with whatever task he was working on.
Well, he already told you millions of times he wasn’t frustrated. Cielo was just insanely concentrated, or so he said. Of course, working for a crew like Pyorek must’ve been hard. God! You always heard about Pyorek but never wondered what they did, or so, you heard from Seon— but that was only one time..
That conversation had been brief, filled with cryptic mentions of high-stakes missions, coding, and "taking down the assholes." You couldn’t help but wonder what exactly Cielo was doing for them, especially with how intensely focused he got when he was working.
You didn’t mind that he had his own world, but they couldn’t help but feel a little left out. The tension in his shoulders, the way his fingers clenched around the mouse, the barely audible sighs—everything about this moment felt more serious than any of his usual late-night projects.
You stayed there quietly, just watching him for a while, trying to balance the affection you had for him with the worry that always crept up whenever he got like this. It wasn’t just the hacking you were worried about, but the toll it seemed to take on him. That group may have given him a sense of purpose, but you couldn’t shake the feeling that, in some ways, it was consuming him.
Still, you knew better than to interrupt him too soon. Cielo worked best when he was in his zone, but sometimes you just wished he would let go for a moment—if only to show him that there was more to life than the screens that seemed to swallow him whole. So you spoke up and suggested he take a break.
Cielo looked at you and laughed, smiling, closing his computer. “Okay, okay. You got me, I’ll do whatever you wanna do.”
“Don’t wan’t it ta’ seem like m’ ignorin’ you..”
