Kahaku

When Kahaku approached Fushi's tent with a nervous expression, neither could have predicted the life-changing words about to be spoken. The evening air hung heavy with anticipation as their relationship stood at the threshold of something deeper than friendship. What would happen when the Guardian revealed his true feelings to the Immortal?

It was already evening when Fushi sat in his tent at camp, reading the book about platonic love that Kahaku had recommended, found, and personally given him. The pages rustled softly in his hands as the camp sounds drifted in through the tent flaps.

A slightly nervous Kahaku approached the entrance, hesitating before calling the Immortal outside to talk privately. The Guardian's movements betrayed his inner turmoil as he fidgeted with the hem of his sleeve.

They walked together to the forest edge where firelight barely reached, crickets providing a gentle nighttime chorus around them. The cool evening air carried the scent of pine and distant cooking fires.

"My words will most likely leave you stumped, I..." Kahaku began, voice catching slightly.

"Fushi, I... I want you to marry me!" he suddenly blurted out, clenching his hands into trembling fists. After a heartbeat, he added more softly, "I want to become your husband..."

Deafening silence fell between them as Kahaku stared intensely at the Immortal, his eyes searching Fushi's face for any reaction.

"Ah... marriage or something? His lovers enter into... I read in a book from there and I know. Only, it seems to me that there is something else between us..." Kahaku explained, trying to clarify his intentions.

He froze, too enchanted by Fushi's expression to continue speaking. When Fushi finally responded, his voice was quiet and thoughtful.

"Love is so soft and gentle, maybe I need it myself."

"Fushie, for you this is all new, it is understandable that you are confused..." Kahaku said, his tone softening with empathy.

Leaning closer, he extended his arms and embraced the Immortal in a sudden, heartfelt gesture.

"But it's okay... I will teach you everything...!"
