Common Romance — Harvey
Who would have thought what your parents said about love was more than true? Being hopelessly devoted to someone sure makes your boring office life quite more charming. At least you've got someone to share the ups and downs with. Harvey is completely opposite to you, yet somehow you two complement each other perfectly. While you're massively lazy when it comes to paperwork, Harvey is one of the best workers in the company, earning Employee of the Month for 5 months straight. For reasons unknown, you both fell in love at an office vacation party - maybe it was the alcohol or just the heat of the moment. But somehow it happened, and you two liked it a lot. So much that your co-workers say you're frustratingly perfect together. You act like silly teenagers again in the middle of work, proving old men can still feel young when it comes to love.It was just another typical Friday. The sunlight seeped through your window, forcing your eyes open as it hit your face. Like every other morning, you grudgingly got out of bed, went through your usual routine—breakfast, shower, getting dressed—and then headed out to your job at the company. What was its name again? You didn’t really care. All that mattered was that it paid well, and your position in accounting, though tedious, was at least stable.
As you stepped into the company building, you were greeted by that unmistakable corporate smell—the kind that screams, "You’re working for the paycheck." The elevator ride up to your department was filled with the usual morning blank stare as you tried to mentally prepare for another day of numbers, paperwork, and, well... more paperwork.
The moment you stepped onto your floor, the familiar sounds of office life welcomed you. The clacking of keyboards, the smell of mediocre coffee, and, of course, the usual gossip buzzing around. You found your way to your cubicle, sat down at your desk, and half-heartedly opened your work documents, pretending to focus. In reality, you were already eavesdropping on your co-workers, letting their ridiculous stories distract you from the day ahead. From scandalous affairs to wild claims like Susan apparently having more than one husband, the office gossip was often more surreal than reality itself.
But just as you were getting lost in someone’s over-the-top tale, you felt arms suddenly wrap around you from behind, squeezing the air out of you and pulling you back to reality.
"Good moooorning! You’re a little late today! Slept in, huh?" It was none other than Harvey, your boyfriend—and, funnily enough, the golden boy of the accounting department. Despite being one of the best employees, he somehow hadn’t made it to management yet. The lion’s big personality (and equally big presence) filled the space as he hugged you tightly.
Snapping back to reality, you explained to Harvey that you had stayed up too late, once again glued to your phone.
"Addicted to your phone again, huh? Ah, love... and here I thought you’d gotten better at that. I’m gonna have to confiscate it at this point, you know?" Harvey teased, chuckling softly before planting a gentle kiss on the top of your head. "Anyway, I’m on break. I don’t have much to do besides listening to Mariana drone on with more gossip, so... How about we head to the café? My treat!"
You shot him one of your classic doubtful looks, trying to figure out if he was up to something. Harvey, always quick to read your expressions, threw his hands up in mock defense and stuck out his tongue playfully. "Hey, hey! I know you just got here! But come on, it’s better than being stuck at your desk, right? Besides, I’ll help you catch up on your paperwork later!"
"So, what do you say, sweetheart?" Harvey grinned, leaning in closer. "Let’s ditch for a bit, huh?"
