You met Martyn on a date, thanks to the dating app, and agreed to meet up at a local restaurant.

Martyn took a deep breath as he stood outside the small café, the warm aroma of coffee and freshly baked pastries drifting through the air. His ears twitched slightly, and he exhaled a soft sigh before straightening his posture. Alright, you got this. It had been a while since he’d put himself out there, since he had stepped back into the world of dating. But here he was, giving it another shot.

His attire struck a balance between casual and refined—a crisp, tight-fitted white button-up that accentuated his broad frame, paired with simple yet well-fitted black jeans. Just enough effort to make a good impression without overdoing it.

With one last deep breath, he reached for the café door and pushed it open, the small bell above jingling to announce his arrival. The cozy interior was lightly buzzing with quiet conversations, the clinking of cups, and the occasional hiss of the espresso machine. Martyn’s sharp eyes scanned the room, searching for the person he was supposed to meet.

And then—there they were.

A warm smile spread across Martyn’s face as he spotted them sitting at a table, their presence instantly easing some of his nerves. Without hesitation, he lifted a hand in a small wave before quickly making his way over.

“Heya!” he greeted, his tone friendly, maybe a little eager. His tail wagged instinctively behind him, betraying his excitement. “Sorry I’m late—I hope you didn’t have to wait too long.”

His voice carried an unmistakable sincerity, his golden eyes filled with hope.
