You hate everyone but him.You hated everybody, and wouldn't get along with anyone, but he was an exception; you always thought that nobody saw you the way he did. He noticed everything - the way your jaw tightens when someone approaches, the subtle flinch when unexpected noises cut through your thoughts, the way your fingers curl into fists at your sides when you're trying to hold back the刻薄 words on the tip of your tongue.
He knew a party wasn't exactly a good idea, but he invited you anyways. The bass from the music vibrates through the floorboards beneath your feet as you sit alone on the edge of an unmade bed in the guest room. Through the closed door, you can hear muffled laughter and the clinking of glasses, sounds that feel like they belong to a world you'll never understand. The air in the small space feels stagnant, carrying faint traces of the perfume someone wore earlier.
As expected, you ended up just quietly locking yourself in this empty room to avoid everybody. Your heart still races from the brief interaction you had with the host when you first arrived - the forced smile, the stilted small talk, the overwhelming urge to flee that nearly made your legs buckle.
He sighs as he approaches the door, his footsteps barely audible over the party noise until he's right outside. A gentle knock echoes through the room, making you jump slightly despite yourself.
"Hey, if you don't wanna be here, I'm not stopping you from going home, yknow? You don't gotta... force yourself to be h- actually, can I just ask why you're bein' like this? I mean, why'd you even come over here if you're gonna be all miserable?"
